Chapter 10

Hiki: (Sits in the corner of Chazz’s room as she reads a book Kura had given her as Chazz and Tori sleep on the bed and gets up waking Chazz up first).  Master it’s time to get up.

Chazz: (Wakes up slowly and sits up sleepily rubbing his eyes).  Fine, come on Tori.

Tori: Let me rest a little bit more….

Chazz: (Sighs).  Alright.

Hiki: Gosh you two are such sleepyheads.

 

Meanwhile in Kairi’s room.

Kairi: If I am training does this mean I do not have to wear a fancy dress?

Kura: I would think not Lady Kairi.  I believe your sister wears a shirt and pants to train.  You could do the same if you wish.

Kairi: Ooh I think I got something in town that would be perfect.  (Goes into her shopping bags).

Kura: very good and Yami it is time to wake up.

Yami: (opens his eyes grumpily as he lies in a chair seeming to just relax rather then sleep).  … Huh?

Kura: It is time to wake up.

Yami: Go away….  (Closes his eyes again and seems to be pretending to sleep).

Kura: (Sighs and shakes her head).  Shall we head out lady Kairi?

Kairi: No, I guess we can wait for everyone else to wake up, it is early still.

Hiki: (Knocks on Kairi’s door wearing a white simple gown with a black border).

Kairi: Come in, who is it!  (As she finishes getting changed in the closet wearing a cute pink summer dress that look comfortable with black leggings and are black with pink to match.  There is a little pink design on the end of the skirt and on the top a little as well.  Her hair tied back with a pink ribbon into two ponytails).

Hiki: (Enters the room).  Hello, good morning!

Kairi: (Happily comes out to great Hiki).  Good morning Hiki, I like your dress.

Kura: (Bows to Hiki).  Good morning, Miss Hiki, do you like the book so far?

Hiki: Same to you Miss Kairi, your looking cute.  Are you trying to impress Tori hmm and Kura what did I say yesterday?  You are my friend so no bowing and yes, I am.

Kura: Oh, right my apolig-… My bad.

Kairi: (Blushes a little bit).  I am not, I just like cute clothing… But do you think Tori will like them… Oh and I’m glad two are getting along.

Hiki: (Pats Kura’s head).  There we go and maybe he will maybe he won’t.  I don’t know, I am not a guy.

Kairi: I hope so oh and later today I am bringing all those bags of clothing I got for everyone to their rooms but how big is Chazz’s closet.  It may not fit all 3 of your things.

Hiki: Oh, I can make it fit, trust me!  (Waves her hands around with a big smile).

Kairi: (Looks confused to why Hiki waves her hands around but shrugs it off).  Ooh or you could make the closet bigger.

Hiki: I could try.

Kairi: I will help them.

Kura: As will I.

Hiki: Well, let me go make sure everyone else is up.

Kura: I have been trying to wake Yami, but he will not wake.

Kairi: Alright oh and I heard what happened to sis.  Is she alright?

Hiki: Yes, she should be fine but master has insisted that she sit out of today’s training so that she may rest.

Kairi: Oh, alright sounds good, when do we start?

Hiki: We will start when everyone gets up.

Kura: Very well, I will wake Yami then.  Yami wake up.

Yami: … Go away.

Kura: … I guess you will not be fighting Tori.

Yami: (Opens his eyes looking annoyed).  Oh, come on don’t joke about that.  Still got to pay him and Hiki back for pissing me off.

Hiki: Well, I look forward to it then.

Kura: I apologies for his rudeness knowing he will not apologies himself.

Yami: Got that right, not going to happen.  Besides I didn’t do anything.

Hiki: Well, you kind of did when you were scared of master were you not, hmm?

Yami: (Throws a pillow at Hiki).  Shut up!

Kura: Hmm interesting that you did not throw a knife.  Is it because she is a girl?

Yami: Shut up!

Hiki: (Stares closely at Yami).  Hmm?

Yami: (Looks away feeling embarrassed).  I could if I wanted to.  I just don’t want to.

Hiki: Whatever you say Yami.  I must go to get master so I will see you outside.

Yami: Yeah, yeah whatever.

Kura: We will be there in a few moments.

Kairi: See you in a little bit.  (Smiles and waves as she goes into her closet again).

Hiki: (Waves back and then leaves to get Chazz and Tori up).

Kura: Lady Kairi allow me to help.

Kairi: It is alright, I am almost done anyways.

Kura: Very good then.

Kairi: Alright I am done!

Kura: Then shall we head out?

Yami: Whatever, let’s go.  (Heads out with Kairi and Kura).

 

Hiki: (Meanwhile Hiki heads back to Chazz’s room and jumps onto him).  Master it is time to get up!

Chazz: (Having just finished getting dressed in one of his suits).  Yes, yes Hiki I am up now.

Hiki: Yay!

 

Kairi: (Makes it outside and decides to practice barriers with Kura as Yami sits under a tree and relaxes).

Hiki and Tori: (Run outside to where Kairi, Kura and Yami are).

Kairi: Hi Tori!  (Runs to give Tori a hug but ends up more like ramming into him).

Tori: (Falls down from the impact looking shocked).

Kairi: (Looks dizzy from ramming into Tori lying on top of him as she tries to get her head together).

Hiki: (Blurts out laughing).  Are you two alright?

Kairi: I am fine….  (Sits up still looking a little bit dizzy still).  Sorry Tori, are you alright?

Tori: I am alright, you just surprised me.

Kairi: I think I ran to fast; I am sorry.

Tori: (Pets Kairi’s head).  It’s fine.

Kairi: (Hugs Tori).  Yay!

Kura: This is very cute, but I would prefer that no one falls asleep now.

Hiki and Tori: Falls asleep?

Kura: I have noticed when lady Kairi hugs and snuggles up to Tori or even a stuffed animal, she falls asleep very quickly.

Tori: (Stands making Kairi stand as well).  Well, if that is true maybe she should not right now.

Kairi: Fine.  (Pouts a little bit but stays close to Tori).

Kura: Very well when do we start training?

Hiki: We will start in a little bit and also master will not be coming since he is taking care of Lady Jenny.

Kairi: Alright, after training I want to check on sis.

 

Chazz: (Meanwhile as everyone else talks outside he walks to Jennifer’s room and knocks).

Shizen: You may come in.  (Is sitting on the bed beside Jennifer who is asleep her arm had grown back in the night but in a sling).

Chazz: (Walks in).  How is she doing?

Shizen: She is doing fine.  Her energy is still returning but she was able to heal her arm.  Though it is back it is like a broken arm now, so she still needs to heal some.

Chazz: Alright is there anything I can do to help her?

Shizen: Not that I can think of at the moment.  She needs to rest though once she wakes, I suggest that she should eat and drink something.

Chazz: Alright I will go prepare breakfast for her.

Shizen: Oh, and if I may ask how is Tori doing?

Chazz: Tori is doing alright.  He is living with the things you had told him.

Shizen: It is hard news to take in, but he is strong just like his teacher.  He will not let grief and suddenness hold him for long.

Chazz: Yes, he should be fine since Hiki stayed by him most of the night.

Shizen: Very good of her and you did say you knew some healing correct?

Chazz: I just know the basics since Hiki had drilled them into me.

Shizen: Good for her, maybe that could help her arm heal faster

Chazz: Maybe.

Shizen: But for now, do not worry about that.  I will do what I can.

Chazz: Alright then, I will take my leave for the moment.

Shizen: Very well.

Chazz: (Leaves for a few moments to gather breakfast trays like pancakes and cinnamon rolls).

Shizen: (Feels Jennifer’s forehead and fixes the sling.  She changes her bandages if she sees some that need to be changed as well while Chazz is away).

Chazz: (After a few moments he comes back to Jennifer’s room with a tray of food).

Shizen: Hello again, she is moving around a little bit so she may wake soon.

Chazz: That is good to hear, and her food is all in order.

Shizen: (Moves to another place to sit in the room).  I will let you sit by her.  I can tell you care for her a lot.

Chazz: (Looks downward).  Shizen may I ask you a question?

Shizen: Why yes of course, ask me anything.

Chazz: … Have you ever been on a dark path where you do not know where you are and have no clue where you are heading?

Shizen: Yes of course, what have you been troubled with?

Chazz: When I was a kid I was in the lost road.  No signs of me reaching a destination but I just kept walking.

Shizen: And are you feeling that way now?

Chazz: No, no not at all but it is something to think how it’s easy to be lost in that dark sea or road.

Shizen: Yes, it is, you had lived on the streets, correct?  Probably thinking of how you would survive the next day but then you came here and found a way out of that dark path.

Chazz: Well to be honest it is not true.  It was much better than before, but it was only a temporary feeling I still felt.

Shizen: I see so a part of you has that feeling where at any moment you could go down a wrong or dark path.

Chazz: But up until a while ago I have not had those feelings.

Shizen: Then if you feel that way now let me assure you that you will not take a dark path.  (Looks at Jennifer).  She will not let you and neither will your spirits.

Chazz: I am aware of that but right now I see stars along this path to light my way.

Shizen: And what are these stars?

Chazz: They are hope.

Shizen: And what hope is that?

Chazz: The hope of protecting the ones that matter the most to me and that I will not lose myself again in the dark ocean where I am alone.

Shizen: I believe you have answered your own question and the people you hope to protect will protect you in return.  The child proved that yesterday.

Chazz: Well, I was telling you why I care for Miss Jennifer.

Shizen: And she cares for you as well.

Jennifer: (Opens her eyes but still looks tired).  I care for you as well.  I can’t lose you; you mean so much to me.  Some may say you are just a butler but that is not true.  To me you are much more than that.

Chazz: and what would that be madam?

Jennifer: (Looks down and away to hide her blush).  … You are not just a butler… You are as close in my heart as my sister is.  I can’t afford to lose any of you.

Chazz: Well, I thank you very much for the affection, but I am not planning to go anywhere just yet.

Jennifer: (Frowns looking upset).  Just yet?  You mean you were planning on leaving someday?

Chazz: No, I was not.

Jennifer: Good… I like having you here and I wish for you to stay and if someone tries to take you away, I will fight them and drag you back here.  (Laughs a little at her comment).

Chazz: (Begins to laugh as well).  Oh, will you now?  Who is the one taking me away is it Hiki or your sister?

Jennifer: (Blushes realizing how her comment could be taken).  I-I didn’t mean it like that, and I do not think Kairi will take you away… More likely she will take Tori away from you.

Chazz: Now what about Hiki?

Jennifer: (Blushes more but then looks down).  I meant from an enemy not a friend and Hiki is a great friend.  I want everyone to stay.  I do not want to ever say goodbye.

Chazz: (Pets Jennifer’s head).  Do not worry; if you command it, I will not go anywhere.

Jennifer: But I do not want to keep you here if you do not wish to stay.  That would not be right.

Chazz: Well, what if I do want to stay then.  I have to make sure you are taken care of.

Jennifer: Then I would be very happy.

Chazz: Then do not worry because I am your butler, no one else’s.

Jennifer: Thank you… For everything.  I may not be the easiest person to deal with but thank you for putting up with me.

Chazz: Oh, trust me you are not but you are my beloved madam so all my attention must be towards you.

Jennifer: T-thank you.  (Blushes as she sits up stiffly to gives Chazz a hug but winces as she tries to make it comfortable).

Chazz: (Bends down to Jennifer’s height).  Alright now there is no need to use all your energy in order to give me a hug.

Jennifer: It is worth it, I just forgot about my arm… Wait my arms back!  (Her eyes widen then looking relieved).  Thank goodness I do not have to give up shooting my bow.

Chazz: I do think that you would still try even if it did not come back.

Jennifer: You are probably right though that would be hard to explain to everyone who works here and visits.  Especially to my parents and the head butler.

Chazz: True I do not feel like explaining everything that happened while he is gone… I would fear for my job.  (Looks like he remembers something suddenly).  I almost forgot there is going to be a dance today.

Jennifer: I do not recall one being scheduled though I do forget those types of things.

Chazz: Well, it is not actually for you.

Jennifer: (Looks surprised).  It is not?  Are you sure?  Suitors usually come to a ball, are there none this time?

Chazz: (Looks around knowing that Jennifer will freak out).  Well, it is actually for lady Kairi since your family has been having a harder time with you and apparently, they found a good amount interested in Madam Kairi.

Jennifer: (Looks shocked).  N-no she is nearly 15 still!  She still has 1 years until suitors can take a interest in her!  She is too young; I will not allow it!

Chazz: I am afraid we have not much of a choice madam.

Jennifer: (Looks very upset and angry).  No, I will not allow it! 16 is the age for suitors to court her and 18 and over is for marriage.  There is still a year!

Chazz: Well, you are going to have to talk about it with your parents.  But I am sure it is just to see if they would like to pursue her when that time comes.

Jennifer: This is not fair!  Just because I do not do as they say in this subject does not mean my sister needs to be pushed before she is ready.

Chazz: Well milady, Miss Kairi already said alright to it plus for the moment the dance is just to find a suitor they can agree upon.  Kairi can choose as well and then they will be engaged at a certain age and then later married.  They have been doing this to you, but you keep rejecting everyone, so they had to move onto lady Kairi.

Jennifer: Because I do not want too yet.  If I had known this would happen….  (Starts to tear up and cry putting her hands on her face as she looks down).  I do not know.

Chazz: I understand your concern milady, but it will be fine.

Jennifer: I just do not want her to end up with some jerk… I cannot really protect her in this condition.  Could I ask you to look after her, do not worry about me.  I can handle myself fine with those things.

Chazz: I was going to of course like I did with you.  I will make sure the person is worthy of Miss Kairi and do not be silly.  I am going to worry about you no matter what.

Jennifer: Thank you I just… Feel it is my fault for turning everyone away… I just am waiting for the right one to notice that I am right here.

Chazz: I know that you will find him milady.

Jennifer: Why is it so hard to tell your feelings to someone… Then Kairi would not have to do this.

Chazz: because feelings are hard to converse easily.

Jennifer: I guess so still I wish Kairi did not have to be pushed because of my stubbornness… then again, she is about as stubborn as I am.

Chazz: well, you two are sisters so that would explain that.

Jennifer: (laughs a little bit) how do you put up with us?

Chazz: that is a very good question.

Jennifer: (laughs more) hey you’re not supposed to agree.

Chazz: I think at this point I am allowed to agree.

Jennifer: I guess I will give you that… thank you for cheering me up… I mean many nobles have dances a few years younger for suitors to think if they want to court them… So, it is pretty common… I just think it’s going to make her grow up faster then she is but to me she will always be my little sister and I will look after her no matter what.

Chazz: And I think Kairi wants that.  She does not want to be treated like a little kid forever.

Jennifer: I suppose you are right, but I do not want her to settle for someone.  She is supposed to be with because their noble.  I want her to choose who she loves.  I do not care if their noble, commoner or even a spirit.  I want her to be happy.

Chazz: Well, we are talking about your sister here.  She will more than likely be stubborn.

Jennifer: You are right, we are just a stubborn family.  (Laughs but then yawns and lays back down looking tired).

Chazz: Well then go get some rest and relax then.

Jennifer: But I see the food over there.  I do not want it to go to waste if you made it for me.

Chazz: Do you want me to feed you then?

Jennifer: (Blushes).  No, I can manage on my own.  I am just tired again.

Chazz: As you say milady.

Jennifer: Today was when Kairi would train correct?  You can go join them if you wish.  You do not need to take care of me, I can manage.

Chazz: Well, it is my job to take care of you.

Jennifer: I know, it is just that the fight would seem interesting to watch so I do not know if you were looking forward to it.

Chazz: The only thing that needs my attention is you.

Jennifer: (Blushes deeply again).  Oh, umm if you insist… Thank you.  Very well but I think I will rest again.  I feel as weak as the day you fell ill.  I do not like it, I feel helpless.

Chazz: As you wish milady.

Jennifer: (Yawns).  Thank you for looking after me with Shizen.

Chazz: Anytime milady, I will be here when you wake up.

Jennifer: Thank… You….  (Falls sleeps).

Chazz: Well Shizen are you going to watch the training?

Shizen: If you are fine with looking after her on your own.

Chazz: I should be fine.

Shizen: Very well.  (Nods and begins to leave).  Let me just say you two are adorable.  (Leaves).

Chazz: (Begins to blush and get flustered).  Gosh Shizen do not tease.

Jennifer: (Smiles as she sleeps with a slight blush).

 

Meanwhile back outside where the training starts.

Kairi: What kind of training am I doing today?

Hiki: It is mostly training for Kura and Yami, but I will work with you on some basic magic for now.

Kairi: Ooh magic.

Yami: Come on let’s fight already.  (Sits up from where he sat under a tree and opens his eyes).

Kura: But we should wait for Shizen.  She said she wanted to watch.

Yami: Come on hurry up then.

Tori: Yami calm yourself.

Yami: Don’t tell me what to do.

Hiki: We are waiting; if you push to fight now then there will be no fighting.

Yami: … Fine but you’re taking the fun out of it.

Kura: (Sighs and shakes her head).  this will not end well for us if you rush in with no thought.

Yami: Hey I don’t need your help!

Hiki: I think you would if it is 2 verses 1.

Yami: I don’t care I will fight all 3 of you.

Kura: That would not end well for you.

Hiki: It really wouldn’t.

Yami: Whatever.

Kairi: What should we do while waiting, oh right magic is it like the barrier stuff?

Kura: It is similar.

Hiki: Pretty much but you will also learn attack magic.

Kairi: Ooh then no one would have to protect me, and I could protect myself.

Hiki: Pretty much so it’s available to you in any situation.

Kairi: It sounds fun.

Kura: It is.  (Out of nowhere a golf ball sized drop of water falls on Yami).

Yami: (His hair becomes soaked and give a angry glare).  Hey!

Hiki: (Laughs and so does Tori and Kairi).  Nice one Kura.

Kura: It was only a demonstration.

Yami: Not cool.

Kairi: Whoa cool.

Yami: I said not!

Hiki: Well, you needed to cool down anyways.  (Laughs at her own pun and so does Kairi as Tori looks at her looking).

Kura: I see because of the water.  I did not think of that.

Yami: That was kind of lame.

Hiki: Well, it was funny to me.

Kairi: I thought it was funny too.

Tori: As did I.

Kairi: But you did not laugh.

Tori: Well, umm… I think Shizen is nearby.

Shizen: (Smirks as she sits nearby).  Now what makes you say that.

Tori: Well, it is just a guess Miss Stealth.

Shizen: I was only sitting here.  If I were trying to hide you would still be talking.

Kairi: Whoa you look beautiful as a human.

Shizen: I decided I am tired of hiding so much.  I am among friends who I trust.

Hiki: (Runs towards Shizen with the intent of poking her).

Shizen: And what are you doing?  (Steps to the side).

Hiki: (Reaches Shizen anyways and pokes her very large chest a little bit seeming to have a curious expression).

Shizen: (Smiles finding this amusing).  What are you trying to do Miss Hiki, it is still me?

Hiki: I am trying to judge them.

Shizen: And what is your judgment?  I will not become embarrassed like the child.

Hiki: I must be cautious.

Shizen: Of what?

Hiki: (Back off).  Oh nothing, anyways how is Jenny doing.

Kura: (Had covered Kairi’s eyes as Kairi looks confused and Yami not giving a shit about it to say in his own words with Tori avoiding the area).

Shizen: She is fine but tired.

Hiki: Good to hear.

Shizen: But please tell me what you are cautious about.

Hiki: No need to worry please.

Shizen: Very well but I would like to know why you did this.  (Grabs Hiki in the same way still amused by the action).

Hiki: Because I wanted to see your size.

Shizen: Thank you for telling me.  (Let’s go of Hiki).  I cannot get flustered easily so you will have to try harder than this next time.

Hiki: (Laughs).  I wouldn’t want to because you are too big for me to handle.

Shizen: Thank you but yours are a good size, much easier for someone to handle.  (Looks to everyone who is watching).  My apologies to everyone for that.

Kura: Do you do this often Miss Hiki?

Hiki: Not really….

Kura: But you did this to Miss Jennifer yesterday.

Hiki: … Maybe.

Kairi: But why just sis or Shizen.

Kura: I believe I am the same size as Hiki so there is no need to.

Hiki: (Looks closely at Kura and even pokes her chest).  Hmm?

Kura: … I think so.  (Stays very still and holds back a deep blush best she can).

Hiki: It seems you are right.  We are about the same.

Kura: I thought so.

Kairi: (Looks down at her own flat chest and frowns).

Hiki: What’s wrong Kairi?

Kairi: I do not think I have a chest.  Nothing sticks out… does that mean there is something wrong?

Hiki: No nothing at all.  It just means it has not begun to grow as much.

Kairi: Alright I guess… Are boys supposed to have them?

Kura: … Not exactly… You have not learned these things, have you?

Kairi: Not really.

Hiki: Only girls grow them really and people come in all sizes.

Kairi: Oh, alright then.

Yami: Can we fight?  Enough of the girl talk already.

Hiki: Hey, hey girl talk is good too.

Yami: It’s boring as hell.  So, you have a chest, what’s the big deal.  Now move on from it.

Kura: Very rude.

Tori: (Places a hand over Yami’s mouth).  Quiet, will you?

Yami: (Muffledly yells at Tori to let go).

Kura: Much better.

Kairi: I do not see why fighting is so much fun.

Kura: Neither do I lady Kairi.

Hiki: Boys will be boys.

Kairi: I guess so.

Shizen: Though I do look forward to how Kura and Yami’s training goes.  Perhaps when you are done, I could tell you stories of the past as a break from training.

Kura: I have always liked reading about history.

Hiki: It sounds nice.

Tori: I think I may pass.

Shizen: Very well.

Yami: The past sucks, why should I hear about it.

Kura: You have such an attitude today I see.

Yami: Hey!

Tori: Oh, oh.

Yami: Shut up!

Shizen: (In the blink of an eye she is behind Yami and pushes him forward a bit making him fall over and once he is pushed; he looks like a 10 year old child again.  His true appearance).  This is your punishment for having no manners and not waiting.

Yami: (Sits up not realizing what really happened).  Hey what was that for!

Hiki and Tori: (Stare and watch Yami’s every move).

Yami: (Stands up and dusts himself off).  What are you all looking at!

Hiki: … Nothing.

Yami: (Stands up straight).  Well quit staring….  (Looks up at Tori thinking “why does he seem so much taller than before”).

Tori: (Tires not to look down since he knows it would cause a scene).  Hiki why don’t you go to train Mis Kairi for now.

Hiki: Ohh umm yes of course.  (Walks Kairi away).

Yami: What the?  (Keeps looking and makes sure he is standing up straight).

Kairi: But I thought you were going to do a team fight?

Hiki: Well, I can teach you some of the basics for right now.

Kairi: (Whispers to Hiki).  Alright but is it because Yami is about to freak out about being small again.

Hiki: Just a bit.

Kairi: Oh, alright but can we watch from far away.  I do not see the big deal, being short can be cool.

Yami: Wait….  (Stares at his hands realizing what has happened taking a moment to process it all).

Hiki: (Face palms).  Kairi why?

Kairi: I thought I was quiet enough though.

Yami: (Looks all around then looks angrily at Shizen).  What the fuck was that for!

Shizen: Such a big mouth for a child.

Yami: Turn me back!

Shizen: Why not accept how you look?

Yami: Just turn me back!

Tori: You have to be nicer than that.

Yami: I don’t care if you want me to be nice just turn me back!  (Throws a throwing dagger at Tori).

Tori: (Catches the dagger).  You have to be careful with this.

Yami: Whatever just this is stupid.  All this because I wanted to fight already but no everyone had to just take their time and it’s stupid.

Tori: Fine we can fight while Hiki handles Kairi.

Yami: I better get turned back then.

Shizen: And I thought you wanted to fight no matter what.  You have the same power.  You are only younger.

Tori: Shizen if you would please so that he can be quiet.

Shizen: I was finding it amusing my apologies.  (Appears in front of Yami pushing him backwards this time).

Yami: (Sits up quickly checking to see if he looks older than sighs feeling relieved).

Tori: Happy now?

Yami: … Still a dirty trick.  (Stands up looking around just to make sure looking at Tori again seeing Tori is now a few inches taller like normally Yami looking about 14).  … Why are you so tall it’s dumb.

Tori: Because I am.

Yami: So, are we fighting or what?

Shizen: I would suggest saving your energy until the team fight.

Tori: Hmm.

Yami: What?

Tori: Maybe we should wait.

Yami: Oh, come on, girls take forever.

Tori: Well, we got to be respectful of girls now.

Yami: Whatever, they still take forever.

Tori: Do not rush them.

Yami: (Sighs and jumps on to a nearby tree branch as he looks at the sky).

Tori: Yes, yes now Hiki please proceed with lady Kairi.

Hiki: Alright.

Kairi: Yay magic!

Hiki: Alright, now Kairi let us begin.

Kairi: What do I do?

Hiki: Well, try to imagine a ball of your own energy.

Kairi: Like when I make a barrier?

Hiki: Yes, it is all about energy conversion.  You allow your energy to become shapes and you can choose the element of those shapes.  It is harder if it is not your own element and will always be weaker than your own element.  I t is a hard ability to use but some even have a dormant second element they can harnesses strength.  Especially humans.

Kairi: Whoa cool umm so I just imagine it….  (Looks at the ground and focuses).

Hiki: Yes, just try for something simple right now.

Kairi: But I want to make a unicorn.

Hiki: No, no we cannot make living creatures.

Kairi: What about a statue of one?

Hiki: That would be made of ground.

Kairi: I could try making one with water….  (Goes back to focusing on the ground).

Hiki: Alright as you say.

Kairi: (As she focuses a mound of pebbles forms but does not rise to create a unicorn only a small gathering).

Hiki: Well, that is a start….

Kairi: (Pouts a little and the dust and pebbles disappears once her focus leaves it).  Aww I wanted a unicorn.

Hiki: Well, you have to start somewhere Miss Kairi.  You can’t expect to get it right on the first try.

Kairi: I know maybe the next time.

Kura: … Not that either lady Kairi.

Hiki: Magic is not that easy.  You will not be able to get the hang of it so easily.

Kairi: Alright I have to practice.  It is just like the barrier stuff.

Hiki: (Holds up one of her hands and a sphere of light appears).

Kairi: Ooh bright.

Hiki: It is pretty much the same idea but instead of just a barrier you have to focus your energy into one point and imagine what you want to do with it.  Magic comes in any form.  For example, Tori’s darkness blades, he invasions a sword that can travel through any shadow.

Kairi: Wow you can do that Tori?

Tori: (Had fallen asleep as he is waiting and Yami has his eyes closed as well on the tree branch above Tori).

Hiki: Oh, not again grr.

Kairi: I guess they had gotten bored from waiting.

Hiki: Yes, but anyways magic need concentration in order to maintain the energy being converted from your body.  If you lose focus of it, it will not happen anymore, and the spell will disappear.

Kairi: So, I need to focus, got it.

Kura: Yes, shall I wake them up?

Hiki: No, you can leave them for now.

Kura: Very well and also lady Kairi, meditation could help your focus as well.

Kairi: Oh, like sis does?

Hiki: Yes, that will help.

Kairi: Alright thank you for helping me learn.

Hiki: I will help more later.

Kairi: Sounds good, I will practice until then.

Hiki: Good, good.

Kairi: Alright what are you going to do now?

Hiki: Well Tori and I have to fight with Kura and Yami now.

Kairi: Alright I do not want anyone to get hurt though.

Kura: We can heal whoever is injured if needed.

Hiki: We will be fine.

Kairi: Alright just be careful.

Hiki: (Nods and then runs off to jump on Tori’s lap).  Hey, hey wake up!

Tori: (Wakes up immediately with a start).  Yes, yes, I am up now.

Kura: Yami it is time to wake up as well.

Yami: (Continues to pretend to sleep).

Hiki: (Hops on to the tree and pokes Yami).

Yami: (Looks annoyed as he swats Hiki’s hand away and continues to rest).

Hiki: (Pokes Yami again).

Yami: (opens his eyes looking and sounding annoyed).  What?

Hiki: It is time to head back.

Yami: To what?

Hiki: (Winks at Kura).  Back to the mansion.

Kura: (Gives a confused look but nods).

Yami: For what?

Hiki: We are finished for today.

Yami: (Sits up looking grumpy and a little angry).  Wait we didn’t fight.

Hiki: Well then don’t sleep.

Yami: We better be fighting still, I waited, didn’t I?

Hiki: (Pushes Yami off the tree).

Yami: Wah!  (Falls off the tree and gets up quickly looking pissed off).  What was that for!

Hiki: Well, we are fighting now so I had to surprise you.

Yami: Finally, that was a cheap shot though!  (Pulls out both of his knives).

Hiki: I never said I was going to be fair.

Yami: Jerk!  (Readies his knives and throwing daggers).

Kura: Yami please allow me to help you.

Yami: I don’t need help!

Hiki: Kura I understand your feelings, but he needs to learn he cannot win alone sometimes.

Kura: Yami call me when you want me to help.  (Sits down by Kairi with a sigh).

Yami: Yeah, not going to happen.

Kura: (Sighs and shakes her head again).

Tori: (Sits by Kairi and Shizen sits by Kura’s side as they watch).

Kairi: Tori, you are not going to fight?

Tori: Hiki is the best match up against Yami since she is light, plus she asked me too.

Kura: If he takes out energy, I will put up a barrier.

Tori: Hiki will too.

Shizen: Hiki if you wish to focus on the fight more, I will handle the barrier.

Kura: … This will end badly for him.

Yami: Hey stop calling me weak!

Hiki: No one is, stop being melodramatic.

Yami: I’m not-!  (Pauses as he thinks what melodramatic could mean).  … That.

Hiki: Whatever.

Yami: Are we fighting now or what?  (Readies his knives).

Hiki: (Pulls out her katanas, both swords are a snowy white as they shine.  In a blink of an eye she starts charging with both swords ready to strike).

Yami: (Strikes a Hiki with both knives).

Hiki: (Strikes back at Yami blocking both of his knives).

Yami: (Tries to push Hiki’s strike back making it a battle of strength as he tries to overpower Hiki).

Hiki: (Manages to keep her footing and strikes at Yami again).

Yami: (Readies to strike with one knife and strikes at Hiki with the other).

Hiki: (Continues to strike at Yami rapidly to leave little to no openings).

Yami: (Blocks Hiki being unable to strike at her that much as he tries to keep up the same speed as Hiki moves making him struggle).

Hiki: (Her strikes at Yami become faster and faster each time).

Yami: (Starts to get pushed back but tries to push Hiki back but is barely able to keep up with her  as it is).

Hiki: are you going to do any better than this?

Yami: Shut up! (Gets upset as he puts more power into his next strike.  The way he seems to fight seems to be very flexible and close range because of the knives with power to follow up those strikes).

Hiki: (Dodges Yami’s attacks easily with her speed).

Yami: (Strikes again with one dagger and sheathing the other, throwing a throwing dagger at Hiki instead).

Hiki: (Dodges the dagger and strikes at Yami again keeping to occupied to throw another).

Yami: (Blocks Hiki, backing off so he can throw another dagger and then unsheathes his other knife and rushes at Hiki).

Hiki: (Pulls up a barrier to block Yami as she strikes through the barrier).

Yami: (Barely dodges as he backs up and then tries to stab and break the barrier but flies backwards).

Hiki: (Attacks Yami combining light magic with her swords to help extend the reach of her swords).

Yami: (Dodges and backs up a little bit looking like he is struggling to stay out of reach of the swords).

Hiki: (Walks closer to Yami and slashes at him).

Yami: (Blocks as he backs up more becoming frustrated).

Hiki: Is this all you’ve got, show me more Yami.  Show me you are strong as you say.  It’s like you are hiding.

Yami: Shut up!  (Gets angry as he strikes back.  Darkness from around him including from Tori, Kairi and Kura slowly being absorbed).

Kura: (Puts a barrier up and a extra one around Kairi).  Looks like he is angry now.

Shizen: I should handle the barrier since I am not a dark element spirit.

Kura: Fine but I will leave the one around Kairi.

Shizen: Very well.  (As the darkness barrier fades a green barrier forms).

Hiki: (Sets up a extra barrier around everyone for protection).

Shizen: That works as well but we may be hard to hear from inside of here… Right, she cannot hear that.

Yami: (Strikes at Hiki again darkness being taken from wherever it can).

Hiki: (Continues to strike back at Yami).

Yami: (Is able to almost match Hiki’s strength of attacks but not her speed).

Hiki: (Begins to strike at all angles at great speeds to overwhelm him).

Yami: (Is unable to keep up and gets more frustrated, absorbing more darkness making his attacks more powerful).

Hiki: (Manages to land a few hits on Yami but intentionally with the blunt part of her blade).

Yami: (Some of the darkness he absorbs goes to where the strikes had hit him as he continues to strike looking angrier).  Stop making me look weak!

Hiki: You wanted to fight, so fight.

Yami: Don’t tell me what to do!  (Strikes with more power making Hiki take a step back.  Shadows surround him as he gets angrier than before).

Tori: (Looks at Yami questioning the darkness).

Shizen: (Looks like she had seen this before, like it is familiar but cannot place from where she had seen it quite yet knowing it should be obvious). 

Hiki: Fine then Scared Flames!  (Her swords light up with white flames and the swords change into their new form).

Yami: Bring it!  (Throws a throwing dagger as he charges at Hiki).

Hiki: (Dodges the dagger and charges at Yami as well).

Yami: (Blocks Hiki being pushed back but then pushes back as well).

Hiki: (Gets pushed to the ground but continues to block).

Yami: (Continues to push Hiki’s swords down when she blocks as he still looks angry, but his eyes look different now… His eyes still red but glowing and the white part of the eyes now black).

Hiki: (Kicks Yami off her).  I never liked forceful guys.  (Charges back and strikes Yami’s arms).

Shizen: (As Hiki and Yami continue to fight her eyes widen, frozen in a look of shock surprise and a little fear as she sees Yami’s eyes).

Hiki: (Gets struck in the shoulder and stops for a second because of shock seeing Yami is blinded now by what appears to be his power and emotions, both being unstable).

Tori: (looks at Hiki with concern sensing something is off).

Shizen: Stop him… His eyes there….  (Is in shock as she tries to make sense of it).  Their just like… his son… Tori he has the eyes of your teacher’s son Izumi… The one driven by power… how is this possible… I thought he….

Kairi: (Looks at Shizen with concern).  Will Hiki be alright?

Tori: She will be….  (Disappears and reappears in front of Yami blocking him).

Yami: (Strikes at Tori his eyes still looking different as he slashes.  It is almost like he is in a blinding rage).

Hiki: What are you doing Tori?

Tori: Hiki… Move back to Kairi… Now.

Hiki: But Tori.  (As she pulls on Tori’s arm, she sees a tear come down).  Tori…  (Disappears).

Yami: (Continues to strike but now his target being Tori in a blind rage).  Stop looking at me like that!

Tori: (Punches Yami into a tree and causes the tree to break).

Yami: Gah!  (Gets up and charges again, darkness still being taken from the things around him including Tori).

Tori: (Blocks Yami’s again).

Yami: (Does not stop striking but a bit more wildly though leaving himself open in some points).

Tori: (Kicks Yami with the same result as when he had punched him).

Yami: (Gets up stiffly, a bit slower than before and a little out of breath as he readies his daggers after throwing one of the throwing daggers at Tori).

Tori: (Charges at Yami and pins him to the ground).

Yami: (Struggles as he tries to get up and push Tori away being in a type of fight or flight).

Tori: (Holds Yami down with a seal in his other hand).

Yami: (Continues to struggle).  Let go!

Tori: First you calm down!

Yami: Just let go!  (Struggles more but looks tired from the fighting).

Tori: No calm down you idiot!

Yami: (Struggles less being out of breath from the fighting and crashing through 2 trees).

Tori: (Picks up Yami with his sword ready).

Hiki: Tori no!

Yami: (Glares at Tori then seeing his daggers on the ground looks back at Tori and glares again).

Tori: Your master took everything away from me!  My only real idea of a family!

Yami: … What the hell are you talking about I didn’t do any… (His eyes widen).  How do you know who my master was?

Tori: He was my master’s son, because he wanted power, he almost destroyed everything!  Then he took everything from me!  (Places the sword close to Yami).

Yami: What are you talking about dad didn’t-.  (His eyes widen to what he had just said knowing he just let out information he never meant to let out looking shocked knowing he messed up as he covers his mouth).

Tori: (Drops one of his swords next to Yami dropping him as well).  You want to fight… Then pick up your weapon… Know that if you do… One of us will die.

Yami: (Crawls panicky away backing into a tree covering his mouth still.  His other hand touching his dagger looking back at it seeing his eyes in his reflection and stares in shock).  No… Not again.

Hiki: I need to calm him down!  (Tries to get out of the barrier frantically Kura seeming to do the same even more fanatically).

Tori: (Stands by Yami as he waits).

Yami: (Gets up and walks over to Tori looking away and away from his reflection on his knife in his hand).

Tori: So, you know what it is then.

Yami: (Looks at the knife for a second then readies himself to fight but looks like his heart is not in it).  … Sure whatever… Let’s fight.

Tori: (Doesn’t respond to Yami as he readies his twin blades Yami able to see a fire burning with black and white flames in his eyes).

Yami: (Looks away).  I have seen that look towards me many times so go ahead, take your revenge… I’m done….  (Looks back at Tori, his eyes still red and black but the red part glows more as his other knife appears in his other hand but he has a look of sorrow and sadness as he readies himself).

Tori: (Charges forward and readies his strike but his swords stop just a couple inches away from Yami).

Yami: (Blocks the swords but it’s clear that he is holding back and slashes at Tori missing and backs up readying himself to block or attack again with the same expression in his eyes).  That all you got?

Tori: (Kicks Yami same as last time).  Are you really ready for this fight…? Is your heart in it?

Yami: (Gets up stiffly as he readies himself again charging at Tori again but still holding back a bit leaving himself open on purpose).  Shut up and just get it over with!

Tori: (Grabs Yami’s arms and throws him to the ground).  If you can’t accept your past, then you are not worth fighting. (Looks at Yami with slight tears).  Do you want to make Kairi lose one of the people she cares about?

Yami: (He jumps back up charging again).  I don’t care!  I know my time’s up so just get it over with!  I’m tired of fight!  (As he is charging Tori can see that he is crying but does not aim at any main part of Tori that it would be fatal as he lowers his other knife not blocking leaving himself open).

Tori: (Takes the hit from Yami not letting him toss the knife away).  Well, you may not care but someone else does… More than you will ever know.

Yami: I’m done living with being hunted like this… Just because of who my dad is… Just get it over with….  (Takes Tori’s hand that hold his sword placing it near his own neck).

Tori: (His sword disappears as his body hits the ground).

Yami: What’s wrong with you, can’t do it?  (Notices he is still taking energy from things around him including Tori because of his emotional state currently).  … What too weak to do it now?

Tori: (Energy begins to pour out of his wounds).

Hiki: (Screams with tears in her eyes).  Tori don’t you die!

Yami: That’s… Not how I wanted this to end… I won’t let it end this way!  (Grabs Tori’s arm slinging it around his shoulder and carries him towards the barrier).

Tori: (His energy slowly dies out as Yami absorbs Tori’s energy.  He begins to see some memories from when he was with his old teacher).

Yami: Come on you’re not dying yet!  (Looks at Hiki)!  Open the barrier now!

Kairi: (Watches with tears in her eyes heavily). 

Shizen: (looks away and Kura wanting to run out and heal but Shizen is stopping her).

Hiki: (Wants to run and help Tori but she cannot bring herself to do so her to do so being in shock and knowing Kura and Kairi would be hurt even more so possibly).

Yami: (Carries Tori until they are near the barrier).  What are you doing open the barrier already!  Do you want him to die!

Kairi: (Cries as tears run down her face).  Please don’t die!

Tori: (Puts his hand on Yami’s shoulder).  Who said I was… going to die, now… Listen to the memories.

Yami: What are you talking about!  just get in the barrier before I absorb all your life energy!  Don’t die because of this!  It’s happened enough already!  I don’t want to keep hurting people like this!  (Dark energy swirls around his fist as he forces an opening into the barrier making Tori go into the barrier then closing it as tears go down his eyes falling to his knees as he breaks down).

Hiki: (Falls on to Tori as her hair flows down onto him as she cries).

Kura: (Rushes over to heal Tori and restore his energy).  Do not worry.  I can heal and restore energy of dark spirits much easier).

Yami: (Is outside of the barrier on his knees with his head down).

Kairi: (Cries as she sits next to Hiki and Tori).  Will he be alright?

Kura: He should be, any longer out there and he wouldn’t be.

Hiki: I don’t want to… Lose my family….

Kura: He will be fine.  He is unconscious though Yami bringing him in here is what saved his life.

Tori: (Wakes up and looks around weakly).

Kura: Are you alright Tori?

Kairi: Please be alright.

Tori: I will be fine….

Yami: (Still has his back turned as he looks down from outside of the barrier then energy being taken by him slowly coming to a stop, the barrier going down at the same time).

Kairi: Yami… Are you alright?

Yami: (Does not answer).

Tori: (Stands up with help from Kura’s energy as Hiki refuses to get off of him).

Yami; (Stands and walks away from the barrier).  … I’ll leave so you don’t have to bother telling me to… Or do you still want your revenge.

Tori: (Walks over to Yami with Hiki clinging to his arm as she looks down).  It’s alright Hiki now, now come on.  (Pets Hiki’s head).

Hiki: (Tears run down her face as she clings to Tori more).

Tori: Well then… Yami.

Yami: (Sighs in defeat and almost as if to emotionally drained to fight anymore).  Why not take your revenge… I’ll even pick up my dagger again….  (Kneels down to pick up his dagger).

Tori: (Slaps Yami’s hand away from the knife).  You know what your eyes were, so you reject them with that past.  I have no reason to slice you down.

Yami: I wouldn’t blame you!  Not like I can tell you where he is!  He disappeared a while ago and left us so I’m the closest to your revenge you can get so just get it over with!

Kura: (Looks down silently and away to hide tears from everyone else seeming to have great ties to the topic she wants to keep secret).

Tori: They’re both dead, what revenge do I have to take.

Yami: (His eyes widen in shock).  No… Y-you’re lying!  He said he would come back for us, he said he would come home!

Tori: He would come back after destroying everything… What would be left?

Yami: He said he was making things better!

Tori: If he wanted to make things better, he did it the wrong way!  He became obsessed with power, and it destroyed him in the end!

Yami: No, you’re wrong he….  (Starts to cry as he goes through his memories).  … He left us all alone… We waited and he never came home… Even on the streets we waited… Why couldn’t you come home!  (He punches the ground, a small crater forming when he does so).

Tori: (Slaps Yami).  Don’t tell me you felt alone when it was the same for me being promised he would come back and then he never does.

Yami: At least you didn’t have to be a burden on the ones taking care of you!  Everyone who took care of me eventually went away so why bother getting attached!

Tori: At least you had someone!  I was alone, all I had was myself so don’t tell me to not get attached when I didn’t have anyone at all!

Yami: At least you didn’t have to watch them die just because you were the kid of who they hated… They died because I was too stupid to just stay put and hide… Because we were looked at like monsters… I didn’t want to be one….  (Looks down as tears start to fall).

Tori: (Looks up at the sky).  Looks like we have more in common then.

Yami: No, we’re not, you were raised by a guy everyone looked up to while I was raised by a guy everyone hated… I don’t blame you for hating me.

Tori: But we understand the feeling of being left behind.

Yami: (Shrugs).  I got used to it, at first it was my dad… Then my big brother… Then my big sister… I figured since I am the youngest, I would be last to go but it hasn’t happened yet so maybe I just meant to stay alone so no one else got hurt.

Tori: Yami there’s one thing you don’t understand.

Yami: What?

Tori: I may have been left behind by my teacher, but I have a new family Hiki, master or umm Chazz, Madam Jenny, Kairi, Kura, and everyone else.

Yami: And what makes you think they will stay.  In the end they will just leave like everyone else.

Tori: That’s the funny thing…  I have thought about that many times, but it doesn’t matter I still have their memories within my heart, and I will fight to protect those memories.

Hiki: (Pulls Kura up with her so that they stand Kairi and Shizen standing as well).

Yami: … It would be better if the sad things would just be erased….  (Looks down sadly as he remembers his past).

Hiki: Shizen stay here, Kairi you come with us.  (Walk over to Yami with Kairi and Kura).

Tori: True sad things are well umm sad, but do you regret the happy times?

Yami: … I guess but if I go back… I have to go back to hiding… That’s why I hid my eyes… So, no one would know who I was….

Tori: Why were you hiding?

Yami: Everyone who hated my dad went after us when he disappeared… Because he killed the people’s families or ruined their life some other way… I’m not really sure, just my guess… My power didn’t really help so was just hunted like a monster… Didn’t mean to hurt them… I just….

Tori: Well, he did since he sought power, right?

Yami: Yeah, he may have done that… I mean he still was my dad… My sister had told me he was better before mom died but I didn’t know her so I wouldn’t know.

Kura (Looks down and away again hearing Yami, hiding her face).

Tori: That’s what loss can do to someone.  They lose their way and are unsure of what to do.

Yami: So, I had to lose my only family left, it’s not fair!  (Hits the ground again as he starts to cry again).

Tori: (Holds his hand to Yami).

Yami: What do you want…?  A few minutes ago, you wanted to kill me just for being the son of the guy who killed your teacher.

Tori: Let me tell you something… I haven’t forgiven your teacher or umm dad, but I can make sure you don’t follow the same type of path.

Yami: Don’t bother… I’m just like him… I did everything I could to control this power, but it always hurts people… My sister told me my mom died having me, so it was my fault to how everything went… But I guess he went crazy and tried to bring her back… This power makes me the same.

Tori: But you are different.

Yami: How, I get angry like him… I have his ability to steal dark energy… I even have his eyes so that anyone who has seen him knows I am his son….  (Eyes turn back to red with black again as he says this and looks down).

Tori: But now you have people that will keep pulling you back when you are too far.

Yami: … And it doesn’t change your mind if I told you I have killed people before?

Tori: It did not change my teacher’s mind.

Yami: … Why did you kill, were you hunted as well?

Tori: They were just disrespecting me in a way, and I was young and still learning my energy… I have regrets.

Yami: Sounds about the same… Some guys I think bounty hunters were talking bad about me and my sister… I should have never done that… She would still be here if I didn’t… (Looks down sadly).

Hiki: (Puts her hand on Yami’s shoulder).

Yami: I killed the people who killed my brother then the same thing happened to my sister… I had to watch them die… Then I tracked the guys who did it and… I’m just like my dad I’m not even in my teens as humans call it and I already have blood on my hands I guess….  (Turns away sitting with his back facing everyone as he looks in the reflection in his knife his age changing to what it really is looking about 10 years old).

Hiki: (Pulls Kairi and Kura closer to Yami).

Kura: … Yami….  (Looks at Yami not sure on how to respond as if she is struggling to not say something that she struggles to hold to herself).

Kairi: … Is there anything I can do to help make you happy?

Hiki: (Whispers to Kairi and Kura).  Why not a hug and say that you are there for him.

Kairi: Of course, I am.  Yami is my spirit after all, and even when you said that you were an evil spirit when we first met, I could tell you were still good.  (Hugs Yami and Kura does as well).

Yami: (Wipes tears from his eyes looking away).

Tori: Come on, accept them already.  I think they do not plan on going anywhere.

Yami: … Fine….  (Turns around to face everyone, Kairi and Kura not letting go of him).

Shizen: (Stands beside Tori).  In a way he is just like you.  He just needs to learn like your teacher had taught you and not someone like his son’s path.

Tori: No he doesn’t need to learn anything.  He just needs to know if he goes to far we will be there to pull him back.

Shizen: That as well.

Yami: (Looks at Hiki then looks away from her). … Sorry for hurting or scaring you or whatever.

Hiki: (Bops Yami on the head).  Don’t worry you idiot.

Yami: Hey I’ll fight you again… Yeah no I don’t feel like it anyways… Seems like a bad idea.

Kura: You said no to fighting?

Yami: … Shut up.

Hiki: Well, that is progress I guess.

Yami: … Don’t push it.

Kairi: (Grabs Yami’s head looking at his eyes).

Yami: (Gives a confused look).  … What?

Hiki and Tori: (Look confused to what Kairi is doing).

Kairi: Can you go back to those other eyes, the ones with black in them.

Yami: Why?

Kairi: (Shrugs).  I don’t know.

Yami: (Changes his eyes).  I don’t like it though.

Kairi: (Gives an amazed look).  Whoa cool.

Yami: How is that it’s the eyes of my dad how is something shameful cool?

Kairi: They just look cool.

Hiki: (Laughs).  Well, they do look kind of cute on you Yami.

Yami: I’m not cute!

Shizen: (Laughs).  Well, I did think they looked cute when his siblings and his father were babies.

Yami: They’re not cute!

Hiki: They are just a bit.

Yami: (Crosses his arms grumpily).

Kura: Hiki do you need me to heal your shoulder?

Hiki: If you would please.

Kura: (Goes over to Hiki, her hands glowing of darkness as she places her hand on Hiki’s shoulder).

Kairi: Hiki are you alright?

Yami: (Looks at Hiki with what looks like almost concern but tries to hide it).

Hiki: Yes, I should be fine.  I just need to rest for a little bit after the healing is done.

Yami: Yeah… Sorry….  (Looks away).

Shizen: It is unlike you to apologize so much.

Yami: … Whatever.

Tori: Well alright I am going to go sit down then.

Kairi: … Tori… Were you two really going to fight… To the death….  (Frowns looking upset as she says this).

Kairi: (Hugs Tori) … I’m sorry you two had a hard life but I want you to be happy and not go through sad things or feel angry… I want to help everyone to smile and be happy again.

Tori: Thank you lady Kairi.  I will remember that….  (Begins to tear up a little bit).

Kairi: (Looks at Tori with concern).  What is wrong?

Tori: I’m not sure… I guess I’m losing control of my feelings again….  (Falls to his knees looking down as tears fall).

Yami: (Walks over to stand in front of Tori since he’s in his true child form he is slightly taller than Tori is since he is kneeling).

Yami: (Lays on the grass looking like he is deep in thought as Shizen sits by him and Kairi practices making small barriers in her hands).

Tori: (Falls asleep as he usually does as they try to go back to their normal routine).

Hiki: (Walks over to Kairi and works on how to use magic with her).

Kairi: (Doesn’t seem to focus looking at Yami and Tori from time to time or just thinking to herself).

Hiki: Are you alright Kairi?

Kairi: Huh oh yes, I am just thinking about what just happened… I could have lost one of them….  (Looks upset as she looks from Tori to Yami).

Hiki: Because you love Tori and care for Yami.

Kairi: I know… I’m glad that didn’t happen.

Kairi: (Tries to brighten the mood with a change of topic).  Well, this afternoon will be better.  There’s going to be a dance.

Hiki: Is there now, for what?

Kairi: I guess when I am 16 suitors are able to court me, but I guess there’s a ball earlier for suitors to see if they want to court me then or something like that.  (Mostly looks at Tori when she speaks).

Hiki: Hmm do you want me to get Tori involved?

Kairi: Hmm, oh how would that work?  Won’t people notice that he is not a noble?

Hiki: He could be your butler for the ball.

Kairi: (Thinks and then smiles at the thought).  I kind of like how sis has Chazz as a butler but she is bad at saying her feelings

Hiki: Well, you are too a bit Miss Kairi and yes, he would watch over you in master’s place.

Kairi: It is just like sis and Chazz but I’m a little too young now to say my feelings so I’m alright with where we are now.  Maybe when I have my birthday.  The only difference is Chazz has two girls who love him.

Kairi: I know but for now I like where things are.  Besides today at that ball it’s not like I have to choose who I like.  It is introducing me since I am not as little anymore so there is no rush.

Yami: (Has his eyes shut as Shizen sits near him with her eyes closed as well but opens them once Kairi speaks up).

Shizen: Very well but Yami seems to be asleep.

Hiki: Tori is asleep as well.

Kura: I will wake Yami.  (Goes over to Yami and pokes his face like Hiki had done to him earlier).

Yami: (Opens his eyes looking annoyed).  What?

Kura: It is time to leave.

Yami: (Sighs grumpily as he stands).  Fine whatever.

Kairi: Ooh I’m waking Tori up then.  (Runs to where Tori sleeps and tackles him in a hug).

Tori: (Falls down hard as he tries to wonder what is going on and then sees Kairi laying on him).  Oh good morning lady Kairi.

Kairi: (Looks up at Tori with a cute face and a slight blush).  Good morning, it is time to go back inside.

Tori: Oh, do I have to get up you are so comfortable though.

Kairi: (Blushes a little bit).  You are comfortable to lie on to, but we do have to go inside, I am sorry.

Tori: (Sighs).  Well alright.

Kairi: I am sorry but you can sleep when we get inside but I have to get ready for a ball so I can’t.  I am sorry.  (Gets up with Tori).

Tori: (Gets up and stretches his arms out smiling down at Kairi).  Alright.

Kairi: (Blushes as she looks away, trying to hide it).  … could you be my butler for the ball and watch over me… Chazz already is watching sis and she is not feeling well so it would give him less to worry about….

Tori: Well, I was already planning to since master asked me too but of course lady Kairi if you are fine with me.

Kairi: (Smiles brightly up at Tori).  Of course, I would not have asked if I was not alright with it.

Kairi: Thank you!  (Bows and smiles then grabs Tori’s hand pulling him with her to go to the mansion).  Now come on we have to go inside.

Kairi: I am excited for the dance usually.  There are so many pretty clothes and dresses that people wear, and I think I got some for the group when shopping but I will just hand everyone all of their boxes so they can pick.

Hiki: I think only you and Tori are going.

Yami: (Looks at Hiki showing a little bit of concern).

Hiki: I am just going to go rest in master’s room.  No need to worry.

Kura: If you need me to do any more healing let me know Miss Hiki.

Kairi: And we should tell sis and Chazz how training went too.  They will probably ask.

Yami: … He better not yell at me again….  (Remember when he had drunk the medicine and shakes a little bit).

Tori: (Laughs and so does Hiki).  Well, she knows what she likes.

Chazz: She is sleeping right now; Miss Kairi, please take your voice down a bit.

Shizen: (Sits by the end of the bed, the same spot she had left from as Kura and Yami stand behind Kairi Yami’s eyes still black and red forgetting to turn them back when he came in).

Chazz: So how was.  (Looks at Yami’s eyes).  … Training.

Yami: Umm… Good.  (Smiles with a nervous laugh).

Kura: (Sighs and whispers to Yami).  You are a terrible liar.

Hiki: (Steps in front of Chazz forgetting about her shoulder).  It went fine.

Chazz: (Pauses as he looks at Hiki’s shoulder).

Kura: (Covers Hiki’s shoulder).  Yes nothing Sir Chazz.

Yami: (Starts to back away slowly).  I-I… Please don’t kill me.

Tori: Gosh stupid.

Chazz: (Looks down as he pulls out his sword out of the sheath).

Hiki: Master, master its fine.  Just some misfortune in our training.

Kura: Yami you forgot about your eyes.

Yami: (Looks in the mirror).  Shit….  (Nervously laughs more).  Umm… I didn’t do it.

Chazz: (Stands up and disappears and reappears behind Yami).  Ohh if you didn’t then why are your eyes different, hmm Yami?

Tori: Master I can expla-.

Chazz: (Pauses to look at Hiki again).

Yami: Well, you see umm… I may or may not have got in a fit of rage and tried to kill Hiki… and Tori and I may or may not have almost fought to the death and I might be the son of the guy who killed Tori’s teacher… In theory not saying I am… Please don’t kill me.

Kura: (Face palms and Hiki and Tori do the same.

Chazz: … You are really bad at defending yourself.

Yami: … Your mad aren’t you; umm oh and yeah, I get my eyes from my dad… I just hid them this whole time… Yeah, I guess that’s it… No big deal?

Yami: (Backs away slowly from Chazz).

Chazz: (Looks at Hiki and Tori).  Are you two sure everything is alright now?

Chazz: … No, I won’t because of two reasons.  One it would make Miss Kairi upset and two being that I have a feeling it would make Madam Jennifer upset as well.

Kairi: Everyone is safe so there’s no need to worry.

Yami: Yeah that.  (Makes his eyes go back to white and red again).

Yami: (Becomes teary eyed and closes his eyes, mumbling thanks).

Hiki: (Signals Yami to change his eyes).

Yami: (Pauses as he processes his comment then looking in the mirror).

Jennifer: … um it was peaceful… Why do I have the feeling I missed quite a morning?

Tori: Well, you kinda did.  We will explain later.

Jennifer: Sounds good, I suppose it is time to get ready for the ball then?  (Stiffly gets out of bed).

Kura: Miss Jennifer and I am glad to see that your arm is back.

Jennifer: Yes, thank you though I cannot really move it yet.

Kairi: (Looks confused by the comment).

Chazz: Are you sure that you want to go madam?  You can stay in.  You do not need to go.

Jennifer: No, it is alright.  I should be at the dance.  It may not be for me but I should at least see if there is any news from other nobles or any changes with trading supplies.

Chazz: As you wish milady.

Jennifer: Besides I have you to watch over me so if I look like I am about to sleep where I stand you can tell me to turn in for the day.  Though I will not listen and stay most likely.

Jennifer: Very well….  (Still shows concern but decides to ask later).

Kairi: So, what do we need to do to get the dance ready?

Jennifer: Let’s see… I think the servants are handling getting the guest rooms ready oh we need to get our gowns and things ready.  Kairi I would go get ready now, and if you need to clean up from training take a bath oh and do you need help with your hair.

Kairi: … I think you are worrying too much.

Chazz: I think so as well.  Hiki handle Miss Jennifer, I will go help the servants and Kura could you take care of Miss Kairi?

Kura: (Nods with a small bow).  Miss Hiki, do you want me to heal you some more before I leave?

Hiki: If you would please.  (Exposes her wound).

Jennifer: (Looks at Hiki with worry as Yami looks away feeling badly and Kura’s hands glow as she places her hand on the wound).  Are you sure that you are alright?

Hiki: I will be fine; it just stings a little.

Yami: (Continues to avoid looking at Hiki mumbling).  … Sorry.

Jennifer: (Give a protective expression).  She better not… But then again, she does not know the difference between boys and girls so maybe….  (Shakes the thought away and protective glares more).

Hiki: True, true she doesn’t know much besides the chest stuff.

Jennifer: She was told that men look different, but she doesn’t know how, and I am hoping not to have that talk quite yet.

Shizen: (Appears sitting on the counter quite relaxed).  If you wish that I explain it one day, I am fine with it.

Jennifer: Oh Shizen… Well, I do not know how she will react to that talk.  She still believes that babies come from a stork or something like that.

Hiki: Hmm how would that work out?

Jennifer: I honestly do not want to know.

Shizen: Well, let me know.  (Disappears once again).

Hiki: I think you kind of should let Shizen talk to her so that you don’t have to explain it to her.

Jennifer: I know, I just am still trying to accept that she is growing up.  (Looks down).  I mean she still has 1 years until men can court her and she is already having her first ball to introduce her… Yes, they still are not allowed to court her yet, but I just worry about her so much.

Hiki: Well, you are her big sister so there’s not much you can help with that.  True she is growing up, but you should allow her to grow up and face new experiences.  You are always there for her, and she knows that, but you have to let her have space of her own.

Jennifer: I know, I am trying to it is just….  (Becomes a little teary eyed).  You are right and besides she is as stubborn as I am.  I mean I have waited for the one I love to notice me, and she will to and will not settle for less and I am fine with whoever that is, noble, commoner… And even spirit.  (Pauses as she thinks of Tori with that last comment).

Hiki: True she is stubborn but that is what makes her a good person.  She won’t settle for less and you will be there to guide her when she needs it the most.

Jennifer: Yes, and if a guy is too persistent, she can slap them and will have to deal with me.  That is what I did, I mean some nobles think because of their status they already can have anything they want and that just bothers me because it is not even the first night meeting them and they are arranging a wedding.  (Looks annoyed but shakes it off).  … Sorry I tend to rant when something bothers me.

Hiki: Oh, I know, master told me already, but he and I are fine with taking care of them.

Jennifer: Still bothers me, especially if the person is to… Handsy but then Chazz always steps in.  (Looks down and smiles).  … I know Tori will look after Kairi in the same way.

Hiki: If he doesn’t master and I will punish him thoroughly.  (She says with a smile).

Jennifer: (Gives a confused look).  Why wouldn’t he… And what do you mean by punishment?

Hiki: (Waves her hand up and down).  Don’t worry about it Jenny.

Jennifer: Umm I feel like I should ask.

Hiki: And I feel that you shouldn’t.

Jennifer: And I feel confused so I will keep asking.

Hiki: Nope.

Jennifer: Fine but only because part of me feels I shouldn’t know anyways….  (As she gets ready brushing curling her hair and doing her makeup).

Hiki: Pretty much.

Jennifer: Fine whatever you say.  Well, we still have some time, I mean the ball starts around dinner.  We have time to just relax I guess and check on things.

Hiki: (Is already lying down).  Well, I may take a nap now.

Jennifer: That is a good idea.  I have been feeling tired and weak since yesterday too.  (Sits in a chair nearby).

Hiki: Careful, don’t want to mess up your hair now.

Jennifer: I did not do too much to it and honestly, I am too tired to care.  You can sleep in my bed; I do not mind.

Hiki: (Already is trying to drift off to sleep being more tired than she had told).

Jennifer: Wow you fall asleep quickly.  (Goes over to Hiki and tucks her in then thinks for a second).  Well, the bed can fit many people.  I will just sleep on the other side.  (Lies down on the other side of the bed and falls asleep just as quickly).

 

Meanwhile as Chazz and Tori help the servants with the decorations by the chandelier and the tables Kairi gets ready for the ball.  Kura is helping her as Yami sits on the other side of the wall between Kairi’s room and the bathroom looking bored. One of the servants comes up to talk to Tori.

Maid 1: So, mister Tori are you from around here?

Tori: Umm well in a way you could say that.

Maid 1: Are you sure you can watch over Miss Kairi?

Tori: I think I will be able to since mast- umm Chazz is watching over Madam Jennifer.

Maid 1: But shouldn’t someone else watch over her?

Tori: No, no it is fine really.

Maid 1: As you say.  (Goes over to another maid and whispers while looking at Tori).  He seems fine though a little nervous.

Maid 2: I wonder if he is a butler in training.  I have not seen him before.

Maid 1: I suppose though he looks about the same age as Chazz maybe a little younger, it is hard to tell with such white hair and he is a little taller.  He’s quite handsome.

Maid 2: It’s so unique, ooh I wonder if he is taken.

Maid 1: Hmm Chazz does not open up much, but I think Miss Jennifer has interest in him.  I’m not sure, is Tori is available though?

Maid 2: Lady Jennifer has interest in her own butler?

Maid 1: I think it is a rumor anyways I cannot be sure but both those guys are kind of cute.

Maid 2: I think so as well.

Chazz: Well Tori, would you go over by Miss Kairi to check on her?

Tori: Of course.

Chazz: Tori make sure to follow your training properly.

Tori: Yes sir Chazz.

Maid 1: Oh so he is a trainee.

Maid 2: I hope he does well he’s cute.

Maid 1: I know right.  (Walks with the other maid to get their chores done for the ball).

 

Tori: (Leaves the ball room and heads to Kairi’s room).

Kairi: (Is in the bathroom humming her favorite song and in the bath with Kura on the side of it washing Kairi’s hair.  The bathroom door opens slightly with Yami on the other side of the wall staring up at the ceiling looking bored).

Tori: (Appears by Yami through a nearby shadow).

Yami: Yo.

Tori: (Nods back to Yami).  Yo.

Yami: What’s up?  (As he plays with his knife a little doing little tricks with it having had nothing better to do).

Tori: Nothing much, Miss Kairi how are you doing?

Kairi: Oh, Tori’s here?  How is it going?  (Smiles happily).

Yami: I would not look in there if I were you.  I got kicked out but don’t see the big deal though.  (Shrugs).

Tori: Well, I can think of a reason.

Yami: (Shrugs and goes back to playing with his knife, doing different tricks with the loop at the end of the hilt).

Kairi: Can I get out to hug Tori now?

Kura: Please wait one moment, you still have soap in your hair.

Kairi: Fine.

Tori: It’s alright just make sure you are all cleaned up.

Kairi: I know.

Kura: I am almost done lady Kairi please be patient, you may hug him when you are ready and dressed for the ball.

Yami: They’ve been in there a hour.  I think their clean enough.

Tori: Well girls do take a while.

Yami: I guess.

Kairi: (As Kura dries Kairi off with towels).  It is hard to get out if the water is warm because it feels so cold when you get out after.

Kura: Drying you off will help.

Kairi: I know.

Tori: Well, that’s what happens when you get into a warm bath.

Kairi: I know right, it is so nice you could even take a nap too.  Kura did you bring my clothes?

Kura: No, they are still in the closet, my apologies.

Kairi: That is alright, I can cover you up with towels until I get them.

Tori: (Heads into the closet to grab Kairi’s clothing being respectful the whole time he is in the room about his actions).

Kura: Thank you Sir Tori.  (As she reaches her hand out of the door carefully after wrapping Kairi in a towel).

Tori: (Grabs the clothing that was laid out and holds them outside of the bathroom doorway as he looks in a different direction).

Kura: Did you get the right dress?  It is the pink one with a black border, I had it laid out.

Tori: Yes, I think this is the right one.

Kura: (Goes over to Tori and bows as she takes the clothing).  My apologies I had forgotten the door was a little open.

Tori: (Blushes as he looks over and sees Kura quite bare looking back away as quickly as the glance).  Umm don’t worry about it just go and get dressed.

Kura: (Looks at herself but doesn’t seem bothered by it, Yami not really fazed by it either).  Oh, I see, I am sorry to embarrass you.  (There is slight amusement as she takes the clothes and closes the door).

Tori: (Stand there silently thinking “umm what just happened”)?

Yami: (Laughs at Tori).  You should see the look on your face.

Tori: (Pulls out his sword and points it at Yami).  Mind repeating that.

Yami: (Points his knife right back at Tori with a grin).  Bring it!

Tori: (Laughs).  That never gets old.

Yami: I’ll fight you again bring it.

Kura: (Shouts from the other side of the bathroom).  If you are going to fight, I would prefer that you take it outside and not lady Kairi’s room.

Tori: Don’t worry, don’t worry I’m not trying to fight.  Just seeing if Yami would back down now and I was right he wouldn’t.  (Puts his sword away).

Yami: I’m no coward, I’ll fight you any day.  (Instead of putting the knife away he throws it at Tori).

Tori: (Catches the knife).  I know you are not.  If I truly wanting to fight you now you would have been stabbed, sealed of your energy or this.  (Gets darkness blades to surround the entire back of Yami).

Yami: (Looks behind him and shrugs).  Whatever, I can just do this.  (Starts to absorb the dark energy of the blades with both having a grin to match their prideful egos).

Tori: (As the darkness blades dissolve into Yami different blades appear but made of steel not darkness).

Yami: Aww no fun.  (Looks at Tori grumpily as he stops absorbing darkness).

Tori: I never said it was fun.

Yami: Whatever.  (Crosses his arms and looks away as he pouts).

Kura: (Opens the door and is in a towel as she rushes out and into the closet to grab something very quickly then back to the bathroom almost as quickly as Hiki could but is not as fast as she is quite with a streak of darkness behind her).

Tori: Well then.  (Sits across from Yami on the floor).

Yami: (Shrugs).  Weird, she’s done that a few times.

Tori: Yeah, Hiki does the same thing.  Either she is getting something or racing to master.

Yami: Ok then.

Kura: (Zooms past doing the same thing again).

Yami: So, how’s it going before I die of boredom, have been for like an hour.

Tori: It’s been alright, all the maids and servants are talking about me.

Yami: Why, what’s so interesting about you?  (Grins at his own comment to get on Tori’s nerves).

Tori: I’m not sure, maybe that I’m better looking than you.

Yami: Hey!  (Throws another knife at Tori).  Not cool, I’m younger so I’ll look good for longer.

Tori: (Dodges the knife).  Are you sure about that?

Yami: (Thinks about what he had said then pouts grumpily).  Don’t make me think about that stuff.  People just talk about people that way anyways, It’s weird

Tori: Yes, yes whatever you say Yami.

Kura: (Comes out wearing a maid’s outfit and a few red bows as her uniform for the ball).  I am sorry to keep you waiting.

Tori: May I ask why the maids outfit?

Kura: If I am going to blend in, I might as well become a new maid, if that is alright.

Tori: I shouldn’t have a problem with it.  The only thing is that you have to do everything in your power to not use your power.

Kura: I am aware.  I will only use my power when I am near people who know of them.

Yami: Seems kind of lame.  Why shouldn’t they know we have power?

Tori: No, no if you come across anyone let me know.  I will deal with them.

Kura: If you wish.  Kairi you may come out now.

Kairi: (comes out of the bathroom wearing a elegant strapless dress in with many shades of pink flowing and frilly fabric like flower petals with a black border and some white.  All the colors are in a striped pattern of the frilly parts on the dress.  Her hair is down elegantly in waves as she smiles brightly).  Hi!

Tori: (Looks at Kairi looking blown away by how good she looks).  My… I’m speechless… You look great lady Kairi.

Kairi: (Blushes a little bit).  Oh, you like the dress?

Tori: It looks great and very beautiful on you.

Kairi: (Blushes more).  Oh, umm thank you, do you need something to wear to the ball too….  I think I got you a few suits.

Tori: I was going to use one of them anyways or one of master’s suits since I am your butler.

Kairi: (Looks excited hearing Tori).  You are?  So, you are going to serve me not just for the dance but tomorrow and every day after that?

Tori: Just for today since master is handling Miss Jennifer.

Kairi: Well today I will look to you for help and I still will buy you clothes afterwards.

Tori: (Laughs).  I look forward to it.

Kairi: Ooh I wonder what suit you should wear today.  (Runs excitedly into her closet).

Kura: Be careful not to rip your dress.  Lift it up a little as you walk or run so you do not trip.

Kairi: I will.

Tori: Well, I am already wearing a butler uniform.

Kairi: But that a plain one?  You need one for the ball.

Tori: It would be weird if I wore something different.

Kairi: It is not that different.  It just looks better; I think it would fit you and your style better.  (Comes out holding a black suit with a tailcoat and a dark grey shirt with a grey border).

Tori: I guess I don’t have a choice.

Kairi: (Smiles as she hands Tori the suit with a giggle).  No, you do not.  My butler needs to be stylish.

Tori: (Sighs).  Fine I will be back when it is time for the ball to begin.

Kairi: Where are you going?

Tori: Back to master’s room to change.

Kairi: Oh alright, see you later then!  (Hugs Tori).

Kura: Lady Kairi allow me to help you get ready.  You still need your accessories.

Kairi: Alright coming, bye Tori!  (Walks into the bathroom lifting the skirt of her dress skirt a little so that she can walk easier).

Kura: Farewell sir Tori.

Yami: Bye.  (As he starts to play with his knife again).

Tori: (Bows and disappears into the shadows).

 

Meanwhile as Chazz continues to get the ballroom ready a maid comes up to him telling his that it is time to get Madam Jennifer.  She is asleep in her room with Hiki in her bed as well and during their sleep they had inched closer to one another and were now cuddling with each other as they slept.

Chazz: (Walks into Jennifer’s room seeing Jennifer and Hiki are asleep as they cuddle).  Well, well no wonder Hiki has been silent… I am not sure if I should wake them.

Jennifer: (Continues to sleep being a fast sleeper as she snuggles up to Hiki).

Hiki: (Struggles in her sleep looking as if she is about to wake up).

Jennifer: (Sleeps peacefully as she holds Hiki like a stuffed animal but moves a little as Hiki moves and tries to get comfortable again).

Hiki: (As she wakes up, she stretches out her arms and legs and yawn).  Well good morning master.

Jennifer: (Waves Hiki’s arm away since it hit her as she sleeps looking as if about to wake up as well).

Chazz: Good morning Hiki.

Jennifer: (Wakes up slowly as she rubs her eyes, not really awake enough to think clearly).  … Huh.

Chazz: Madam Jennifer it is time to get up.

Jennifer: For what?  (Says grumpily as she rolls over but rolls into Hiki).  … Hiki, what are you doing here?

Hiki: Well, you wanted to have the fun of girl relations so we cuddled.

Chazz: (Looks away quickly to hide a blush with a small cough in surprise).

Jennifer: (Scrambles away from Hiki looking shocked and embarrassed).  Wait what!

Hiki: No need to worry, we just cuddled.

Jennifer: Thank goodness Hiki please do not tease people like that… But why were we cuddling?

Hiki: I’m not sure.  Maybe you wanted to do more Jenny.

Jennifer: Not at all!  (Blushes even more).  I-I just tend to cuddle things as I sleep.  Kairi does the same with her stuffed animals.

Hiki: Whatever you say Jenny.

Chazz: (Coughs to interrupt the conversation).  It is time for the ball.

Jennifer: (Blushes as she panics a little bit).  Chazz you are here… So, umm….

Chazz: I have no concern of who you cuddle with but remember you wanted to go to the ball.

Jennifer: Oh right, wait it’s time for the ball already.  (Panics and rushes into the bathroom and brush her hair, scrambling to get ready).

Chazz: Yes, that’s what you get for sleeping in.

Jennifer: I did not mean to I was just tired.  (She says as she rushes to get her hair curled and get her dress unwrinkled the best she can).

Chazz: I know you were not.  You are still recovering after all.

Jennifer: Well, it makes me feel tired and I do not like it.  It is like being under the weather.

Chazz: Well, it basically is.

Hiki: (Shakes her head in agreeance).

Jennifer: Alright I think I am done.  My dress did not get to messed up too much.  How do I look?  (Comes out of the bathroom wearing her gown that is shades of green with long darker green gloves and the dress tying with a brown shoulder strap to help her recovering arm in a cast.  The skirt has a wavy pattern to it with her hair worn in a loose bun behind her in loose curls).

Chazz: You look great milady.

Hiki: Wow you look… Look amazing.

Jennifer: Aww thank you, I mean the cast takes away from it a little bit but there’s not much I can do about that.

Chazz: (Begins to blush a little bit and look away).  Well in any case the guests should be here in a bit.  I will be back in a moment to escort you.

Hiki: Alright master, do you want me to come with?

Chazz: No, no that is alright Hiki.  Just look after Madam Jennifer for now.

Jennifer: Chazz is something wrong?

Chazz: Nothing, nothing I will be on my way now.  (Leaves the room having looked away oddly the entire time).

Jennifer: Alright then but he is supposed to escort me. I thought I was late and was he… Nevermind.

Hiki: He was blushing at you and the guests are supposed to be here in a bit.  He just went to go calm down I believe.

Jennifer: (Starts to blush madly).  Blushing at me?

Hiki: (Laughs).  Well master is a sucker for dresses sometimes.

Jennifer: (Continues to blush).  I still have not seen him blush many times….

Hiki: His blushing is not as visible as it should be but nonetheless, he can.

Jennifer: Still he blushed at me….  (As she jumps up and down a little in excitement).

Hiki: Well maybe he will blush at me as well.

Jennifer: He probably would if you put on that wedding dress Kairi gave you….

Hiki: Maybe, maybe.

Jennifer: Well, are you still tired.  You could still rest here if you want to when I leave, which I guess is when Chazz calms down.

Hiki: I could just come with you maybe, but your bed is so comfortable.

Jennifer: I know right?  It is like sleeping on a cloud.

Hiki: Pretty much.

Jennifer: Well, feel free to rest here if you want to stay in from the ball.

Hiki: I may rest and then come later.

Jennifer: Sounds good… Sorry for cuddling… I fell asleep on the other end of the bed I promise….

Hiki: (Touches her own chest).  Are you sure you didn’t want to just touch and hold me in that way?

Jennifer: (Blushes a lot).  Not at all!  I would never!

Hiki: That is why you are cute Jenny.  You are easy to tease, and it looks so cute.

Jennifer: (Pouts).  It is not nice though.

Hiki: Hey, hey.  (Pulls Jennifer close to her).  But that’s what makes you so loveable.

Jennifer: (Blushes and hugs Hiki with a small smile).  T-thank you.

 

Meanwhile Tori has come back to Kairi’s room and knocks on the door.

Kairi: (Sits on her bed with Kura, Yami sitting on the floor throwing his knife up and catching it still looking bored).  Come in.

Tori: (Comes in wearing the suit that Kairi had given him).

Kairi: (Goes over to Tori happily and hugs him).  Yay you put on that suit!

Tori: (Scratches his check as he looks away).  I think that I didn’t have much of a choice.

Kairi: No, you did not but I am still happy that you put on the suit.  It looks good on you.

Tori: (Sighs).  Well thank you for agreeing with me, anyways it’s about time for the ball.

Kairi: Yay oh and let me get one more thing.  (Goes to a small table picking up a pink carnation and putting it in the chest pocket of Tori’s suit jacket).  There now everyone will know that you are my butler.

Tori: Well then, I guess for the night you are my master, madam Kairi.

Kairi: (Blushes).  … I am not your master; Chazz is because he told you to serve me.  … I just like it because then you are around more.

Tori: Well, I am your butler so then that means you are my second master.  (Bows to Kairi).  Please to meet you Madam Kairi.  Allow me the pleasure to escort you to the ball being held tonight.

Kairi: (Blushes more as she curtseys to Tori).  T-thank you Tori… It is an honor to have you as my butler.

Tori: (Holds out his hand for Kairi).  Now shall we get going?

Kairi: (Takes Tori’s hand happily).  Yes, we shall.

Tori: (Starts to walk towards the ballroom with Kairi then turns seeing Kura had not moved from where she was).  Also, lady Kura, come on now.

Kura: Very well, I will help with what I can.  Yami what will you do?

Yami: (Shrugs).  I don’t know.  I’ll just go in Kairi’s head and chill, I guess.  (Fades into the shadows).

Kura: That is fine.  (Walks behind Tori and Kairi).

Tori: Well Kura you got dressed up too, so you have to help out.

Kura: And I have no problem with that also I am going to put an invisible barrier around Kairi.  Just in case anything happens.

Tori: Good idea.

Kura: Though I know she will be safe I just want to make sure.

Tori: You can never be too careful.

Kura: Indeed.

Kairi: A barrier that is invisible?

Kura: Yes, this barrier I am putting around you now protects from spells, potions and poisons and is also hard to detect.

Kairi: Oh, I get it.

Tori: Just in case something should happen you will be protected.

Kairi: Something could happen, like what?

Tori: I’m not sure, just anything could happen.

Kairi: Alright I guess, oh hi sis, hi Chazz.  (Sees Jennifer and Chazz further along the hallway and waves).

Jennifer: Oh, hello are you being escorted to the ball as well?

Kairi: Yes, and Kura is helping at the ball as well.

Chazz: Well, hello there Kura.  My, my you look nice as a maid and lady Kairi you look beautiful as well.

Tori: Now, now master, only worry about Miss Jennifer if you would.

Chazz: Well then good job Tori.

Kura: (Bows).  Why thank you Sir Chazz.  I will help as much as I can.

Kairi: Just because Chazz is watching sis, he can’t talk to me?

Jennifer: (Laughs).  Not at all, they were making a joke.

Kairi: (Smiles).  Oh, I see.

Tori: (Laughs and so does Chazz but then Tori’s look changes to one of a little worry).  How is Hiki doing?

Chazz: She is fine, just resting while her wound heals.  She should be fine at some point during the ball.

Kura: When I was healing her, she seemed fine.  She will be tired today and her shoulder will be a little stiff until tomorrow so I suggest that she should take an easy on that arm during morning training.

Chazz: I will tell her, but she is not going to listen to me.

Tori: That is very true.

Kura: I suppose so.

Jennifer: I know Hiki will be fine.

Hiki: (Shows up in a maid uniform behind Chazz and jumps onto his back suddenly, everyone looking surprised).

Chazz: Whoa!

Hiki: Who said that I was going to stay in bed while this goes on?

Kairi: Hi Hiki!

Jennifer: Oh, hi Hiki, are you sure you will be alright to serve at the ball.  You do not have to.

Kura: Yes, I could handle your duties as a maid if you wish.

Hiki: (Still is on Chazz’s back).  Well, I couldn’t leave master to handle a girl.  Especially when there are three pretty girls here.

Chazz: Wha… What are you saying?

Hiki: (Laughs as she holds Chazz closer with a light blush).  Just kidding, I just don’t want to be alone.  I want to be near master.

Chazz: (Smiles and pets Hiki’s head).

Hiki: Master….

Chazz: It is alright Hiki, you can stay.

Tori: (Bops Hiki’s head).  Silly Hiki, don’t worry just tell me next time you are lonely.

Jennifer and Kairi: Daw.

Kura: You three have a very close bond, it is cute to see.

Jennifer: Yes, you three really are.

Tori: (Hangs on Chazz’s shoulders).

Hiki: Well, if we didn’t then maybe master will be sad.

Tori: It is a possibility.

Chazz: What… What, it is not a possibility.

Jennifer: I agree it is not, I cannot imagine you three being apart now having met you.

Hiki: (Kisses Chazz on the cheek).  I hope not, I want to be near master.

Tori: I won’t be doing the same, but I still want the same thing.  He grew up with us after all.

Chazz: (Pauses as he looks down and smiles).

Jennifer: (Laughs a little bit thinking how cute).

Kairi: Chazz what’s wrong?

Chazz: Nothing Miss Kairi… I just wished Hiki wouldn’t tease me.

Hiki: Who said I was.

Jennifer: (Laughs).  It is what makes Hiki, Hiki.

Tori: Fair enough.

Hiki: (Laughs as well and still is on Chazz’s back).

Chazz: Well then thank you Hiki for the kiss.

Jennifer: Yes, and Tori before everyone enters the ball room you are watching over Kairi, correct?  (Changes to a serious look).

Tori: Yes, I am, that’s why this pink thing is on me.  To say I am hers for the night.

Jennifer: A flower… Never mind that for now.  Then I expect you to not leave her side no matter what.

Tori: I plan not to but if I do Kura will keep watch until I come back.

Kura: Yes, I also put an invisible barrier around Kairi so that spells, potions, and poisons will not affect her as well.

Jennifer: Very well and if anyone tries to take advantage of her in any way kill them.

Kura: … Are you sure we shouldn’t just throw them out?  That seems a little much.

Tori: Yes, we will just get them to leave.  If they come back with resistance, then we will use force, but we won’t kill.

Jennifer: I am sorry, but I may exaggerate because I worry for Kairi.

Kairi: (Hugs Jennifer).  It is alright sis.  it is a dance, it is supposed to be fun, and we get to make new friends.

Jennifer: (Returns the hug and smiles).  I know, I just worry about you is all.

Hiki: Daw sister love.

Chazz: If we may get going.

Hiki: Master don’t kill the mood.

Jennifer: He may have but he is right.  Shall we?

Hiki: (Jumps off Chazz).  Yes, we shall.

Kura: Since I am a new maid in training, I will learn from Hiki as a cover story.

Hiki: Yes, but is shouldn’t be more different than normal.

Kura: I know Miss Hiki.

Jennifer: (Stands by Chazz as Kairi stands by Tori).  Escort us if you would please.

Chazz and Tori: Yes milady.

Kairi: (Smiles as they walk, Kura following Hiki behind everyone).

Kura: How was your sleep, Miss Hiki?

Hiki: It was pretty good though Jenny had cuddles up to me, so it was nice.

Kura: Really, well sounds like both of you rested well.  I think during that time I was giving Kairi a bath.

Hiki: Well, a girl always needs to get clean before a dance.

Kura: Indeed, though I had to kick Yami out since he was playing with his knife on the bathroom counter.

Hiki: I don’t find that surprising.

Kura: He sat on the other side of the wall though.  I wish he had closed the bathroom door.  I did not realize he did not.

Hiki: Did Tori see inside of it?

Kura: It was fine, Kairi was wrapped in a towel.

Hiki: Aww that’s no fun.

Kura: Though I believe I made him embarrassed since I was not.  (Says very nonchalantly).

Hiki: (Looks at Kura with shock).  Why do you say that so easily?

Kura: I never really became embarrassed easily, so I see no problem with the situation.

Hiki: But you’re a girl.

Kura: Yes, I do not see that problem though.  I have been in changing rooms that are for both genders together and had baths together with both of my brothers when quite young.

Hiki: Why?

Kura: I even cleaned those rooms and changed my previous masters clothing since they were noble like Kairi is, though Kairi is a lot nicer.

Hiki: (Hugs Kura).  Alright that’s enough, let’s get going.

Kura: Very well.  (Returns the hug then walks into the ballroom behind everyone with Hiki).

Jennifer: (As she and Kairi are announced side by side into the large ballroom they curtsy with Tori by Kairi’s side and Chazz by Jennifer’s side).

Chazz: Well, here we are, Madam Kairi please walk around and introduce yourself.

Kairi: alright I will.

Jennifer: Remember to be polite even if you do not like someone and remember your lessons on manners.

Kairi: I know I can do it.  Wow so many people.  Do I talk to all of them?

Jennifer: As many as you can.

Chazz: Tori will be with you because he must be the one escorting you.

Tori: Shall we go lady Kairi?

Kairi: Thank you Tori, yes, we shall!  (Walks into the ballroom with Tori and Kura right behind her as Jennifer smiles at her but also looks a little worried).

Chazz: She will be fine madam.  Just try to have fun.

Jennifer: I know, it is a big moment though it makes me want to tear up a little bit, but I must not since we are at a dance… Shall we go?

Chazz: Well of course milady though I will need to go check on some things in a bit.

Jennifer: What do you need to check on?

Chazz: Some of the people attending and the other servants to make sure everything is ready with the music for the actual dance.

Jennifer: Do what you must, I can handle myself during that time.

Chazz: Do not worry, Hiki will be here.

Hiki: Hello Miss Jennifer, you look quite beautiful this evening.

Jennifer: (Smiles politely).  Why thank you, at the moment I am going to try and find any news that has traveled and tell the ones who ask about my arm that I tripped in the hall.

Hiki: (Whispers to Jennifer).  What do you think master is doing?  You can go enjoy yourself.

Jennifer: (Whispers back to Hiki).  I do not really have a chance to usually since these events are the only time, I can work together with other nobles setting up trades and those types of things.  Since I am the oldest child of my family and there are no sons, a lot is expected from me.

Hiki: Whatever you say milady.  Just don’t put yourself in harm’s way.

Jennifer: I know not to though sometimes it cannot be helped.

Hiki: Fair enough but I will be near you in the place of master.

Jennifer: I trust you to have my back.  (As a noble comes up to Jennifer, she greets them and chat politely).

Hiki: Yes milady.  (Moves off to be near Jennifer but not directly near her).

 

Kairi: (At the other side of the ball room she walks through the hall many nobles coming up to her.  Some wanting to get to know what kind of person she is others seeing if she would be a good fit for them to court and parents looking for a noble female for their son to become betrothed to.  Most think she looks so young for her age though think she is adorable as their first impression).

Tori: My, my you are getting a lot of attention.

Kairi: (Once in a clear opening where she can talk to Tori).  I guess so, it is a little overwhelming.

Tori: Anyone you find interesting yet?

Kairi: I do not know, there’s one I think I like….  (Thinks of Tori as she says this and stares at him as well).  I just want to enjoy myself… O-or I mean there’s so many people, how could I choose really.

Tori: Well, take your time.  This is only a type of test day for when you can actually get courted.

Kairi: I know, and dances are always fun.  So many people and get too dressed up in pretty clothing.

Tori: True enough.

Kairi: Ooh the sun is starting to set.  I want to watch with everyone that is on the balcony.

Kura: (Watches Kairi a little farther away as she brings food to guests).

Tori: Yes madam.

Kairi: (Goes out to the balcony watching the sun set and smiles at the moment to herself).

Tori: It is very beautiful.

Kairi: It really is!  I like looking at the sky when it is like this and when it is dark, I look up at the stars and lose track of time.

Tori: Oh… I was talking about you lady Kairi… But yes, looking at the stars can diffidently change the way we are guided.

Kairi: (Turns to Tori looking surprised as she blushes).  A-about me?

Tori: Well, yes, I don’t get many chances to see you in dresses like this and this one looks great on you… I maybe should stop speaking like that before your sister hurts me.

Kairi: (Looks around to see if Jennifer is around).  I do not see her, and I wear dresses though not as fancy as this one.

Tori: Well, you are always very pretty that I will admit and very beautiful in your own unique way.

Kairi: (Blushes more).  … Thank you and you are handsome, especially in that suit… It looks good on you.

Tori: Well, thank you but I will go grab you something to eat.  I will be right back.

Kairi: Thank you I am getting kind of hungry.

Tori: Yes milady.

Kura: (Is near the door of the balcony keeping an eye on Kairi and nodding to Tori as if saying she will watch Kairi while he is gone).

As soon as Tori leaves a young man looking about 14 with brown hair, blue eyes and small to average height starts talking to Kairi.  He has light brown hair going down to his cheeks combed neatly for the party and blue eyes.  He is in a formal suit with a white and light blue striped tie though not as decorated as some of the other nobles.

????: H-how is your evening lady Kairi?

Kairi: Oh hello, my evening is fine.  How is yours?  (Smiles politely and curtseys).

????: It is doing alright so far… Any new things in your life.

Kairi: I guess so, though I have been to dances in this one more people want to talk to me.

????: W-well they all want your hand or a promise of your hand if that is how it works… I am not sure.

Kairi: I think that sums it up though I cannot promise or become betrothed to someone until I am 16 so I am just being looked at… Are you a suitor then?

????: M-maybe I am… Or umm I am not sure… I was just pulled along… I just wanted to meet you.

Kairi: To meet me?  I did not hear your name, are you from a noble family?

????: I am… My family is definitely smaller, but I am not in a hurry to court you or anything… I just wanted to meet you… For I do admit you are pretty l-like a star.  (It is clear the boy is very shy about speaking and he was encouraged to go over and talk to Kairi).

Kairi: (Blushes a little bit).  Oh well thank you and are you sure you are not trying to court me?

????: W-well if I try you will just pick someone else who is better looking… But I want to try… Oh also my name is Maru.

Kairi: (Frowns).  That is no way to think.  I think everyone has their own special person to be with.  It may or may not be me, but your person is out there.  I mean even if may person was a commoner or something it is still love to hold onto.

Maru: … Well, that is good thinking indeed.

Kairi: And you are not that bad looking your cute in fact.  I am sure whoever you belong with will be lucky to have you.

Maru: T-thank you Madam Kairi… I wish to hang out with you.  Is that alright?

Kairi: I am fine with it but do as you wish.

Maru: I am… But I must check with my maid about something so I will see you later….

Kairi: Sounds good,it was nice meeting you.

Maru: I-it was nice meeting you as well….  (Bows and leaves).

Kairi: (Smiles and curtsy and then looks up at the sky again, the stars now visible as servants’ light lamps outside for guests to see well).

Tori: (Comes back with a tray of food).  Who was that lady Kairi?  Someone you want to court?

Kairi: He was nice, I am not sure yet though.  He has been the nicest noble so far.

Tori: Hmm maybe you like him.

Kairi: … I do not know him well enough to know if I do but I will talk to him again to get to know him better.  He was nice and a bit shy though.

Tori: Fair enough.

Kairi: But so far, the ball is a lot of fun.  Oh, you went to get food, right?  What did you bring?

Tori: Just some assorted sandwich horderves.

Kairi: Sounds good, thank you I am quite hungry.  I do not think I had lunch today.  (As she takes a sandwich and starts to eat).

Tori: Well good thing I brought you food than.

Kairi: Thank you, you are a lifesaver.

Tori: Anything you want milady.

Kairi: (Smiles at Tori).  Do you want some too?  You brought enough to share.

Tori: I will have some later but for the moment I am fine.

Kairi: If you say so.  (Looks up at the stars with a smile now that the sun has fully set).  It is dark out and the sky looks even prettier now.

Tori: Yes, it is but I believe we should start walking around again.

Kairi: I guess so, I cannot look at the sky all night.  I need to talk and get to know people.  (Sighs as she gets ready to head inside).

Tori: How about this, after the ball I will watch the stars with you.

Kairi: (Smiles brightly at the idea).  Really!  Or I mean if you want to.

Tori: Well of course, I think you want to so who am I as your butler but to think of your happiness.

Kairi: But I want you to be happy as well.  You may be my butler but that does not mean that you are less of a person then I am.

Tori: Well, I am in the mood for some star gazing, but I need someone with me don’t I?

Kairi: You look up at the stars too?  I have never seen you outside when I go out to watch the sky.

Tori: I usually look through the windows of master’s room since I have not had many chances in the past to go outside.

Kairi: Well, it is a lot better being outside and sometimes Kura and Yami do my training at night.  (Looks around to make sure no one is listening to them).

Tori: Do they now, well that is good.

Kairi: That is mainly the reason I have improved so much but I still am not that good at combat.

Tori: Well hopefully you will not need to be in combat yet.

Kairi: But what if I need to protect you, sis, or the others.  I am getting a lot better at the barriers and healing though.

Tori: Well, if you do be careful.

Kairi: I know but you and the others are so powerful.  I do not want to have to be protected by everyone and be a burden so I will do everything I can to help.

Tori: Well for the people who are powerful and those who are not it’s all about the will to keep going.

Kairi: I know and that’s why I want to train as much as I can.

Tori: Well, whenever you want me to train with you I will me more than happy too.

Kairi: Anytime you are welcome.  I can show you how I have improved to.

Tori: I look forward to it.

Kairi: Deal, now let’s head back.  I bet there are a lot of people who want to talk to me again.

Tori: I can believe that and maybe you will see that guy from before.

Kairi: (Pouts).  Hey, do not make fun of me.

Tori: (Laughs).  Yes, yes Madam Kairi.

Kairi: (Cannot help but giggle a little bit but as they enter the ballroom she changes to a polite smile as people walk up to talk to her again).

 

Meanwhile on the other side of the ballroom Jennifer chats with other nobles but begins to get tired but shakes it off as another person asks about her arm as Hiki stands near her. After a little bit Jennifer bows and excuses, herself and sits at a table to rest for a moment.

Hiki: (Drops off a drink to Jennifer).  Are you having fun madam?

Jennifer: Yes, I am, I just need to rest for a moment.  Thank you for the drink.  (Takes a sip of the juice Hiki had given her).

Hiki: No problem and remember to not overdo yourself.

Jennifer: I know that is why I am sitting for a moment though I do know tend to push myself.

Hiki: (Laughs).  I think we all know that.

Jennifer: (Laughs as well).  I know but I am sitting now so I do not fall asleep as I chat with others.  I think that would be rude.

Hiki: It would be funny though.

Jennifer: Hey that is enough, and I do not think it would be funny… Mainly because I would be asleep but still.

Hiki: Are you sure?

Jennifer: … Quiet, perhaps slightly funny.

Hiki: That is what I thought madam.

Jennifer: Very well, I suppose I should chat with nobles again.

Hiki: Yes milady, I will get you something to snack on.

Jennifer: Thank you, I am a little hungry so that would be appreciated.

Hiki: No problem.

Jennifer: I will stay around here so that you can find me easier.

Hiki: (Bows and leaves).

Jennifer: (Stands and begins to chat with nobles in the area again).

Hiki: (Comes back with some food she also had brought Chazz with her).  Madam I have brought back Sir Chazz as you requested.

Jennifer: (Gives a confused look).  Umm I did not request you to bring Chazz though it is nice to see you.

Hiki: (Whispers to Jennifer).  Just pretend that you did.  Maybe you can catch a break if the others see master next to you and maybe you could catch a dance with him.

Jennifer: (Blushes and whispers back to Hiki).  You did not have to.  I mean I am fine really… You do not need to, but I see what you are doing.

Hiki: Oh, trust me you need it or I’m going to dance with him.

Jennifer: (Sighs).  Very well and thank you Chazz.  I was just getting tired of seeing unfamiliar faces.

Chazz: Ah alright madam, I have no problem with it.  How can I accompany you today?

Jennifer: I-I am not sure but how are you?

Chazz: I am doing fine; the music is set.

Jennifer: Good I am glad to see that people are enjoying the music… Many more are dancing as well.

Chazz: Yes, they are I had to make sure we had the right music playing.

Jennifer: Well, it seems like everyone is enjoying it.  You did a good job.

Chazz: (Bows to Jennifer).  Nothing to say thanks for milady.  I only wish for you and lady Kairi to have the best time.

Jennifer: And I am, though I do not really dance, and I am sure Kairi is having fun as well.

Hiki: You do not dance madam?  I thought you did more often.

Jennifer: I usually chat with other nobles or anything else but when it comes to dancing… I am not very skilled.

Hiki: (Looks at Chazz).  Well in convenience, master cannot dance that well either.

Chazz: I… What… Hiki.

Jennifer: … I see well it looks like we both have two left feet when it comes to dancing.

Hiki: (Pushes Chazz towards Jennifer).  Then why not go dance with each other or I will go dance with master.  Either way I will.

Jennifer: (Blushes and becomes flustered as she rambles a little bit).  What, Hiki I mean if Chazz is alright with it but if you two want to dance it is fine….  I do not know, whichever is fine.

Chazz: (Blushes as well).  Well, umm I prefer to dance with milady first… If she is alright with it.

Hiki: Of course, but master later I will dance too.

Chazz: Of course, Hiki, I at least owe you that.

Jennifer: (Blushes more).  With me?  I mean of course if you wish to….  You are my butler after all….  It makes sense to have a dance with you.

Chazz: Actually, it does not happen that often but maybe it will break the ice for others to dance.

Hiki: Master just go dance.

Jennifer: (Continues to blush madly).  Umm yes… Shall we?

Chazz: (Holds out his hand to Jennifer but is shaking a little bit).

Jennifer: (Takes Chazz’s hand hesitantly, noticing he is shaking but is just as nervous).  Are you alright…?

Chazz: I am fine.

Jennifer: If, you are sure.

Hiki: (Pushes Jennifer to get her closer to Chazz).

Jennifer: Wah!  (Falls into Chazz as she blushes a lot)!  I-I am sorry.

Chazz: (Catches Jennifer with a surprised and concerned look on his face).  Milady are you alright?

Jennifer: (Continues to blush).  I-I am fine, thank you.

Hiki: (Snickers a little bit).  Go have fun you two.

Chazz: (Sighs).  Well shall we milady?

Jennifer: Hiki I will have to pay you back for this and Chazz yes we shall….  (Starts to walk to the dance floor with Chazz).

Chazz: (As he takes Jennifer to the dance floor the music suddenly changes to something slower).

Jennifer: (Shakes a little bit feeling flustered and blushes madly).  A slow dance?

Chazz: Well, I guess there is not much we can do about it….  (Looks at Hiki as if saying “I know it was you”).

Hiki: (Makes a heart with her hands).

Jennifer: Very well, I am sorry if I step on your feet….  I am not a very good dancer.

Chazz: I think I will have to tell that to you as well.

Jennifer: I guess this will be interesting then….  (Starts stating how to dance as if reminding herself).  Umm let’s see umm, your hands on my waist, my arms around your neck oh umm….  (Looks at her arm a in her sling).  That may be a problem, but I guess not too big of one.

Chazz: (His hands already are on her waist).  Well let’s proceed.

Jennifer: R-right.  (Places her hand on Chazz’s shoulder and continues to blush as they begin to slow dance.  Once able to follow the pattern she looks up at Chazz her mind going through thoughts of him and for a moment she wonders if she is dreaming).

Chazz: (Does his best to not step on Jennifer’s feet with all his strength).

Jennifer: (Steps on Chazz’s foot when her mind wanders then looks concerned and embarrassed).  Oh, umm sorry… Is your foot alright?

Chazz: Oh, umm yes, I am alright.

Jennifer: Sorry umm.  (Looks away as she blushes).

 

Jennifer and Chazz dance a little awkwardly more people start to head to the dance floor and a little before that many suitors go over to Kairi asking for a dance.  She is unsure of what to do as Tori is near her but not to close.

Kairi: (Is pulled to the dance floor where suitors dance with her but only getting around a minute to talk and dance with her before another cuts in.  She is feeling a little overwhelmed by the attention).

Tori: (Steps in front of Kairi).  Now, now gentlemen I know you want to dance with lady Kairi, but you must be reasonable about it or deal with me.

Kairi: Thank you Tori.  (Sighs in relief as the men wanting to dance with her look upset but form a line to dance with Kairi, some glaring at Tori).

Tori: Also, as a reminder, it is up to Kairi who she dances with since a lady must be respected.

Maru: (Is waiting in the line farther back since he wanted a chance to talk with Kairi again but didn’t know what the line was really for).

Kairi: (Nods and the dancing begins again.  She is trying to get to know the men one at a time but if they do not seem interested, they move on.  The line eventually becoming shorter until a few are left.  One dances with her with a smirk on his face as he holds her a little too close and her looking uncomfortable.  The man then tries to kiss her, she is moving her head back not sure of how to get away as she pushes him back by the shoulders).

Maru: (Sees what is happening and comes up to the man dancing with Kairi and tries to separate him from Kairi).  U-umm sir I think this behavior is rude to Lady Kairi….

Suitor: Well, what do you plan to do about it?

Maru: I umm want to ask you to please stop.

Suitor: Yeah, whatever kid.

Kairi: (Speaks up a little but hesitant and timidly though but tries to smile politely).  Umm please do not fight I just was not very comfortable with being kissed… I mean I have not even known you a day and if I do kiss someone, I want to get to know them better….

Suitor: Well, you will get to know me very well darling.

Maru: (Tries to separate the man’s hold on Kairi but is pushed away but with not enough force to knock him down just to get the attempt to stop).

Kairi: But I do not know if I want to get to know you.  You are being a little rude.

Maru: (Tries to separate the man from Kairi again and manages to get Kairi out).

Kairi: (Backs away from the man).  T-thank you Maru.  (Turns to the man that was being rude to her).  And please I would appreciate if you would not try and kiss me again.  It made me uncomfortable….

Suitor: Well, whatever, you are not worth kissing anyways.

Maru: (Looks down a little bit).  That is not true, lady Kairi is very kind and caring….  You are the one not worth anything.

Suitor: Why you little pest!  (As the man prepares to swing at Maru but Tori and an unknown maid in a standard uniform and long flowing light blond hair and light blue eyes stops the man’s arm by grabbing and restraining it).

Kairi: (Blushes).  T-thank you and please do not fight.  (Runs and stands in front of Maru protecting him).

????: My, my a lady willing to take the punch, very willful indeed.  I am impressed.

Tori: Well, that’s what happens with lady Kairi.  (As he speaks to the unknown maid, they pull the man’s arm back as he whispers in his ear).  I recommend leaving the ball at once milord.

????: As do I second that milord.

Kairi: Thank you for your help.  (Bows to Tori and the maid and then turns to the rude suitor).  Now please leave, you are upsetting the quests around us as well.

Suitor: (He sighs, shrugs, and then leaves).  Fine whatever.

Kairi: (Sighs in relief and then smiles).  I am glad that is over.

Tori: (Immediately rushes over to Kairi).  Are you alright lady Kairi?  Do I need to get ma-… I mean Sir Chazz or your sister.

Kairi: Hello Tori, I am fine.  I am just glad that that is over with.  (Hugs Tori and then turns so that she can see Maru).  And thank you Maru for getting him away from me.

Maru: … Umm n-no problem, lady Kairi… It was nothing.

????: (The mystery maid stands next to Maru being quite tall).  What you did was quite brave milord.

Kairi: I still owe you my thanks and is this your maid?  I owe you my thanks as well since you helped Tori get that man away.  (Bows to both Maru and his maid).

????: No need milady.  I was only helping milord since he was in the situation.

Maru: (Goes silent looking a bit shy).

Kairi: Still thank you for helping him.  Maru are you alright?  (Looks at Maru with concern)?

Maru: Oh, I am alright… I just am happy nothing bad happened.

????: Milord if I may ask why did you intervene if you knew her butler would do so?

Maru: Well, umm I wanted to thank Mis Kairi for talking with me earlier but then I saw what was happening and my body just moved on its own.

Kairi: Like an instinct to protect?  That is a good thing to have but why thank me for talking to you?  I thought it was nice meeting you.

Maru: Well, umm you made the time to talk with me, so I felt it was needed….

Tori: Well either way I can respect his instincts to help.

Kairi: Well, I thought you were nice, so I liked talking to you.  Plus, you are the only noble here who sincerely wanting to know how I was doing.

Maru: (Looks down).

????: Well as milord would say “well I believe that is nice to be nice to others”.

Maru: (Stumbles around with a slight blush).  W-well umm I forgot to introduce her… This is my maid Shizuna.

Shizuna: (Curtseys to Tori and Kairi).

Kairi: (Curtseys back to Shizuna as Tori bows to her).  It is nice to meet you Shizuna.  I am Kairi and this is my butler Tori and Kura is my maid.

Kura: (Comes over to everyone as she holds a tray of appetizers she has been passing out to guests and curtseys to Maru and Shizuna).

Shizuna: Please just call me Luna.  I prefer that nickname over most.

Kairi: Luna, well that is a pretty name.

Luna: Why yes since my name can be hard to say, everyone basically calls me Luna.

Maru: It makes calling her fun, especially at night.

Kairi: (Giggles).  I get it!  It is like calling to the moon and Maru I am glad to see you seem less shy now that you are more comfortable.

Maru (Blushes and hides a little becoming self-conscious again).  It is no problem, lady Kairi.

Kairi: Very well, if you need a place to stay, I am sure we have guest rooms available, so you do not have to find an inn in the town.  They are probably very busy.

Tori: (Whispers to Kairi).  Um milady what about the dance?

Luna: (Whispers the same to Maru).

Kairi: Oh, right Maru weren’t you in line to dance?  We still could if you want to.

Maru: W-well umm….

Luna: (Nudges Maru).

Maru: Ow… But I guess so….

Kairi: It is alright, we can just talk as we dance.  I know you will not be like that rude guy, so I am alright with dancing.

Maru: (Looks up nervously).  If… You wish.

Kairi: It is alright, we do not even have to dance.  We can just talk if you want to or if you do not want to its fine, I understand.  You just seem like a nice person is all.

Maru: (Hold his hand out for Kairi though a little shaky).

Kairi: (Curtseys and takes Maru’s hand).  Why thank you.

Maru: (Leads Kairi onto the dance floor but he stumbles a little bit).

Kairi: Do you know how to dance, and you seem nervous.  It is alright.  I just want to get to know you better since you are kindhearted.

Maru: I know the basics but I… I do not usually dance… That often.

Kairi: Alright, I had lessons, so I know a little as well but usually when I go to dances, I just run around looking at all of the pretty clothing.

Maru: Well then, I guess this will be a lesson for us both….

Kairi: I guess so.  (Places her hands on Maru’s shoulders for that dancer). I also want to get to know you better so we can talk as we dance.

Maru: As you say lady Kairi.

Kairi: (As she dances with Maru).  Let’s start with the basics.  Tell me something about yourself.

Maru: W-well as you know my family is smaller compared to others.

Kairi: Oh, what number rank or what is your family’s name.

Maru: The Arden family is small.

Kairi: I am not familiar with that name though I never paid attention in my classes on being a noble, so I never remembered.  Sorry I barely even know the top ten ranked families’ names.

Maru: Well, I know that your family is in the top five.

Kairi: But we were 10th not long ago, what happened to the others?

Maru: (Looks down).  Well, the same thing that happens to all royals’ conflict.

Kairi: (Frowns).  My sister will need to know about this.  Usually, my family tries to stay peaceful but if we are that highly ranked, I know that is bad.  It draws attention from people wanting power.  I think I would rather be a lower rank then.

Maru: It has not been official yet though.

Kairi: Alright oh anyways, away from sad topics you said you came here to meet me?  Why is that?  What got you to become interested?

Maru: (Blushes and looks away).  Well, I said… Its e-earlier t-to that guy.

Kairi: You mean the rude guy?  Oh, you mean about me being kind and caring.  (Blushes a little bit).  What made you believe that?  You barely know me yet?

Maru: I could just guess from talking to you.

Kairi: Well, thank you for thinking so.  You seem caring as well though a little shy.  Why is that?  Is it because there are a lot of people you do not know well, or have you always been so shy?

Maru: I-I just have p-problems talking to people.

Kairi: That is fine, is it like stuttering?  I still think you are a little timid, but you still were brave enough to step up to that mean guy.

Maru: T… Thank you.

Kairi: No, I should be thanking you.

Maru: (Blushes and looks down).

Kairi: (Smiles brightly).  It is alright, what do you like to talk about.  I do not know, maybe your family.  Like if you have brothers or sisters or do you want to know more about me?

Maru: Well, I told you about me a bit, so it is… Only fair.

Kairi: Well, seems fair, where do I start.  I have an older sister, umm I love shopping and making clothing, ooh pink and bunnies too.  I would like to be able to protect everyone I care about one day because that is the most important thing to me.

Maru: Protect them?  How if I may ask?

Kairi: Well, I may be small and powerless, but I want to be a lot tougher than I look.

Maru: … W-well don’t let your heart break lady Kairi… It is delicate.

Kairi: (Looks down).  I know but usually I just worry about everyone else’s happiness.

Maru: W-well I know… You will find your wings and fly.

Kairi: I hope so, I usually feel like a shadow since my big sis get a lot of the attention and responsibility.  I do not mind her getting the attention.  I just want to help take the burdens she has so she does not worry as much.

Maru: You mean like this attention.  (Point to both dancing).

Kairi: Yes… But I did not mind getting attention… There are a lot of people watching us though.

Maru: (Looks around and begins to get a shy expression again).

Kairi: It is alright, I never really cared what others thought but if you want to stop dancing that is fine.  We can just talk.

Maru: (Shakes his head no).

Kairi: I will not mention the people watching again.  You seem uncomfortable about it though you were opening a little before then which is good.

Maru: I-I want to enjoy this… As much as I can.

Kairi: I am glad you are enjoying yourself then.

Maru: A-are you?

Kairi: (Smiles brightly).  Of course, you are nice to talk to.

Maru: (Smiles and continues to dance).

Kairi: (Continues to dance with Maru until the song ends, once done she curtseys to Maru).  Thank you for the dance.  I had a very nice talk with you.

Maru: (Bows to Kairi).  As did I lady K-Kairi.

Kairi: We could talk again if you wish but I think I should talk with my butler and sister.  So, I will talk to you a little later, is that alright…?  (Her sentence trails off as she looks behind Maru seeing Jennifer and Chazz walk back from the dance floor).

Maru: Oh alright.

Kairi: Umm yes umm.  (Stares at Jennifer and Chazz with a huge smile).

Chazz: Oh, umm lady Kairi….  (Immediately backs away from Jennifer).

Kairi: (Smiles happily like she had just seen a dream come true).  Hello!

Jennifer: Oh umm….  (Worries about what goes through Kairi’s mind).

Kairi: Wo what were you up to?

Jennifer: Umm… It was Hiki’s idea?

Kairi: Uh huh?

Hiki: (Comes by everyone and stands by Tori).  How is butler duty going?

Tori: It is going well.  We haven’t needed to throw anyone out to forcefully yet.

Hiki: (Smiles) good.

Kairi: What about that one guy who tried to kiss me?

Jennifer: (Looks shocked and ready to beat someone up).  Wait what!

Tori: (Sighs).  He is already gone now milady.  I took care of it.

Chazz: Good work Tori.

Kura: Yes, I could not help though since guests were asking me something, my apologies.

Kairi: It is fine, and Maru helped to.  (Motions to Maru who still stand next to her).  Oh, this is Maru.  Maru meet my sister Jennifer and her butler Chazz and her maid Hiki.

Jennifer: Oh, ahh hello, how do you do?

Maru: (Stands behind Kairi as if trying to hide).  H-hi.

Chazz: (Stands by Jennifer and both them and Hiki question why Maru stands behind Kairi).

Hiki: Why is he hiding?

Tori: Oh, you will see.

Jennifer: (Gives a confused look).  Are you alright?

Kairi: He is fine, he’s just a little shy.  It is alright, they are good people, trust me.

Maru: (Still hides behind Kairi as Luna shows up).

Kairi: Oh, hello Luna, oh umm and this is Luna.

Luna: (Curtseys to Jennifer).  It is nice to meet you Madam Jennifer.  I apologize for milord.

Jennifer: (Curtseys back to Luna).  It is fine but is he alright?

Luna: He is fine, he is just shy is all.  He had stepped in first when lady Kairi was in trouble.

Jennifer: Really, then I owe him my thanks.  (Curtseys to Maru).

Kairi: I would not thank him; it makes him shyer.

Maru: I-I could not j-just watch it happen, I had to do something.

Jennifer: (Laughs).  And now I see why you stood out to my sister.   I do not think I have to worry about you trying anything either.  You seem very timid.

Kairi: Sis do not say that you will embarrass him.

Luna: Saying he will get embarrassed or things like that will not help.

Kairi: Oops sorry….  (Looks at Maru).

Maru: (Looks down).

Chazz: (Coughs).  Milady you should consider his feelings more.

Hiki: Don’t remind him of it.

Maru: It is fine….

Kairi: Alright.

Kura: Yes, would anyone like refreshments of any sort.

Jennifer: That sound great, thank you.

Kairi: Me too.

Hiki: Kura I will help you with this alright?

Kura: Thank you Hiki.

Jennifer: Oh, sis have you chosen the person or people you will want to see the next day?

Kairi: I think it is pretty obvious.  (Looks at Maru with a grin).

Maru: (Has a questioning look on his face).

Luna: Milord sometimes you are not always there.

Kairi: Maru do you wish to stay another day?

Maru: (Looks shocked).  I-I can?

Kairi: (Smiles brightly).  Of course!

Jennifer: Since it is my sister’s day, she is able to choose at least one person to stay at least another day to get to know them better.

Kairi: And that would be Maru.

Maru: (Looks down and blushes).

Luna: I think milord will accept your invitation.

Kairi: Good you are welcome here anytime!  (Bows to Maru).

Jennifer: We are pleased to have you here to visit.  (Bows as well).

Maru: (Bows twice and then stands up straight looking a little dizzy).

Chazz: Well, we have one.  Lady Kairi is there anyone else you want to stay?

Kairi: I am not sure; I think only one though.  Is that alright?

Jennifer: Very well… Is Maru alright?  (Notices he looks slightly dizzy).

Maru: (Shakes his head yes).

Chazz: Well, I believe that is decided then.  I will set up two guest room, Hiki let the others know.

Hiki: Yes ma-sir Chazz.

Kairi: Good I hope you enjoy your stay here though it does get a little crazy here.

Jennifer: You mean you are crazy.

Kairi: Hey so are you!

Jennifer: What do you expect, this whole family is crazy.  (Laughs at the small joke).

Kairi: I guess so.

Chazz: (Laughs and so does Tori).  Well, I cannot disagree with that fact.

Jennifer and Kairi: (Pouts).  Hey!

Chazz: (Continues to laugh).  Yes, my apologies.

Jennifer and Kairi: (Cannot help but laugh as well).

Kura: (Walks over as she bows then talks to Maru and Luna).  Excuse me sir would you like rooms with a connecting door so that your maid can take care of you.

Maru: N-no I do not want to bother L-Luna.

Luna: Are you sure milord?

Maru: (Shakes his head yes).

Kura: Very well then, the rooms will just be across from each other if that is alright.

Maru: (Shakes his head yes).

Kura: Come to me when you want to be escorted to your rooms.  (Bows to Maru and Luna).

Jennifer: Yes, and we should probably go to bed soon.  Kairi are you tired?

Kairi: No not really.

Jennifer: How do you have so much energy?

Kairi: (Shrugs).

Chazz: Well, she is your sister.

Jennifer: I know but things seem to be winding down.  The deserts are being passed out and then people will start to leave soon.

Kairi: Ooh desert, I wonder what kinds are being served.

Jennifer: I guess we will know in a few moments.

Maru: (Looks excited).  I had heard it was strawberry cake.

Kairi: Ooh that does sound good!  (Looks excited as well).

Chazz: Well, it is with some lemonade since this is a party for lady Kairi and she is a little young for wine.

Maru: (Shakes his head).

Luna: I will get milord some dessert.  Should I get you some as well Lady Jennifer and Lady Kairi?

Jennifer: I am fine, I will get some myself.

Kairi: Sis do not be modest.  You know you want some cake.

Jennifer: Hey… Maybe… Thank you Luna.

Kairi: Yes, thank you.

Luna: (Bows and leaves to gather cake for everyone).

Chazz: Kura why not go and help her?

Kura: Yes, Sir Chazz.  (Follows Luna).  Do you mind if I help?

Luna: oh, not at all, I welcome the help.

Jennifer: Good then shall we sit or at least I will.  I cannot hold a plate and eat.  (Looks at her cast awkwardly).

Kairi: Alright either way though I kind of want to eat outside.

Chazz: Shall we eat on the balcony under the stars?

Kairi: Ooh!

Jennifer: Wont guests wonder where we are?

Kairi: But the balcony is in the party area, right?

Hiki: yes maladies.

Kairi: So, it is not like we are leaving so let’s go.

Jennifer: Very well.  (Starts to head to the balcony with everyone).

Kairi: (Follows everyone but then notices that Maru does not follow).  Are you coming with Maru?

Maru: Well… Umm have fun.

Kairi: Are you sure?  You are welcome to join.

Maru: (Looks like he does not know what to do).

Kairi: (Walks over to Maru as she smiles kindly).  It is fine.  I know new people can be scary but once you get to know us it will be easier.

Maru: It… It is not that, it is just… I do not know.

Kairi: Then please tell me what it is.  I just want to get to know my guest more and for you to be comfortable and happy as my guest.

Maru: (Grabs Kairi’s arm hesitantly as a gentlemanly manner).  S-stars are nice.

Kairi: They really are now, shall we?  (Begins to walk with Maru to catch up).

Maru: Y-yes milady.

Kairi: (Catches up to everyone else making it outside).

Jennifer: (Smiles politely feeling proud from Kairi’s acts of kindness towards Maru).

Maru: (Still hides behind Kairi a little bit).

Chazz: Well then, I am glad we have our guests.

Jennifer: Yes, he will always be welcomed here.

Kairi: Yay and I hope you enjoy your stay here.  We are not very busy in the morning so feel free to sleep in.

Maru: (Shakes his head in agreeance).

Kairi: (As everyone makes it outside).  Wow the sky is so clear tonight.  You can see all of the stars.

Chazz: Yes, yes, they look quite pretty indeed.

Tori: (Stands near Kairi like when they had gone outside before).

Hiki: Wow it looks beautiful.

Jennifer: It is quite pretty, and the moon is out so it gives a nice glow to the area.

Kairi: if I could, I would stare up at the sky like this all night.

Maru: I-I would too.

Kairi: It is best when it is clear like tonight.  It makes me feel calm and peaceful.

Hiki: Me too, it makes me feel clear.

Jennifer: Yes, shall we sit then?  (Sits at an outdoor table, a lamp is in the center so that it is not completely dark).

Kairi: Huh oh alright.  (Sits at the table as she still looks up at the sky as Hiki, Tori and Maru sit and Chazz stands by everyone.  Luna and Kura come back with cake for everyone).

Jennifer: Chazz will you not sit as well?

Chazz: No, no I am alright but thank you.

Luna: Well, I hope everyone is ready for some cake.

Kairi: Yay cake!

Jennifer: Ooh yum.

Kura: We hope you enjoy it.

Luna: (Sets out cake for everyone not just Jennifer, Kairi and Maru).  I hope you enjoy.

Maru: (Smiles seeming to have a bit of a sweet tooth).  T-thank you Luna.

Luna: Anytime milord.

Jennifer: Yes, thank you.

Kairi: It looks so good!

Luna: No problem maladies.

Hiki: (Takes some cake and so does Chazz and Tori).  Thank you very much.

Tori: As she said it.

Kairi: (Starts eating her cake and so does everyone else).  This is really good!

Jennifer: Indeed, oh and Maru there are a few rules if you are to stay as a guest.  Nothing to surprising but I need to state them before you head to your room for the night.

Maru: (Shakes his head to say yes as he continues to eat his cake).

Jennifer: It is nothing that should be major or surprising and I trust that you will not do anything anyways, but I still need to state them.

Kairi: As long as you do not scare him away.

Jennifer: I am not trying to.

Maru: (Continues to eat but lies back like trying to hide from being talked to so much shyly).

Jennifer: First rule is that you cannot court Kairi yet since she is not of age and neither are you it seems so no kissing.  That also means that you are not allowed into her room or empty rooms without a servant there to watch you.  Second if you do harm to anyone here, my sister, I or a servant you will have to be asked to leave.  Third there will be no umm “impure” talks as some would call it, with Kairi since that is considered courting.  Forth if you can follow this then your stay here will be enjoyable and if there is anything you need we will do are best and if you need anything answered please ask.

Maru: (Shakes his head to let Jennifer knows that he understands).

Jennifer: I am sorry, I did not want to upset you but I needed to state the rules so I wanted to get it over with now.

Kairi: Sis, do not scare him.

Jennifer: I am not trying to.

Maru: N-no it’s fine… Just n-not used to the idea.

Jennifer: Well, those are the rules and I trust that you will be respectful.

Maru: (Shakes his head as Chazz collects everyone’s plates).

Jennifer: Good I hope that you enjoy your stay then.

Kairi: I know you will have fun here, but we will seem a little crazy at first.

Maru: (Laughs a little bit).

Kairi: Yay you laughed, that is your first laugh staying here.

Maru: Yes… It is fun.

Chazz: Well, I am glad you are enjoying yourself.  (Notices that Luna smiles at Maru).

Kairi: (Looks from Maru to Luna with a stare she would have for when Jennifer and Chazz are together but before she says anything Jennifer interrupts her seeing Kairi’s stare).

Jennifer: So, umm Maru is this your first time looking for someone to court, you look like you are about 14 or 15 about.

Maru: Umm… Y-yes, I am sorry f-for my inexperience.

Jennifer: No, it is fine.  It makes it easier actually since both of you have a lot to learn.  You may not end up together, but you will both learn.

Kairi: But if we do not end up together, I hope to still be friends with you.

Maru: … I hope… So.

Kairi: Good I hope so too.

Jennifer: (Smiles but then covers her mouth as she yawns looking tired).

Hiki: Getting tired?

Tori: Should we head back?

Jennifer: Oh, I am fine.  You do not have to head back with me if I go to bed soon.

Kairi: Are you sure, it is getting late.

Chazz: Plus, it is nearing the end of the ball.  We must head back so that others can try to impress lady Kairi if they did not have their chance before.

Kairi: Sounds good, Maru if I do not see you again tonight, I will see you tomorrow.  (Stands and get ready to go as she curtsies to Maru).

Kura: Sir if you feel tired, ask and I will escort you to your room.

Maru: No… No, I-I am fine.

Kura: (Nods and bows to Maru).

Kairi: Goodbye, I will see you later!  (Curtseys as she heads inside).

Jennifer: (Laughs).  It looks like duty calls Tori.

Tori: Yes, it does.  (Follows Kairi).

Hiki: What about Sir Chazz and I, madam Jennifer?

Jennifer: The ball is coming to a close soon and I am honestly exhausted so I may head to bed soon.  You both do not need to escort me, it is fine.

Chazz: Hiki will you escort milady back to her room?

Hiki: Yes, sir Chazz.

Jennifer: Thank you Chazz, are you going to help end the ball then?

Chazz: Yes, since I had helped set it all up.

Jennifer: Do not work too hard.

Jennifer: I am not sure; I just do not want you to feel overworked is all.

Chazz: I do not at all.  Just focus on getting some rest.

Jennifer: Alright than, thank you.  (Stands and bows to Maru and Luna).  It was nice meeting you two and I hope that you enjoy your stay.

Maru: (Maru and Luna bow but Maru stays seated).

Jennifer: Farewell.  (Heads back inside with Hiki).

Kura: (Stays outside as she glances a few times to check if Kairi is alright).

Maru: (Glances up at the stars staying seated as everyone leaves).

Chazz: Are you not going to join them Kura?

Kura: (Bows to Chazz).  If you wish me to, I am here to help anyway possible.

Chazz: Well, that is up to you.  The ball will be ending soon.

Maru: Luna….

Luna: Yes milord?

Maru: (Looks at Luna with a smile).  I am glad we came today.

Kura: (Looks at both Maru and Luna and smiles slightly).  Yes I suppose I will help close the ball then.  I think lady Kairi and Lady Jennifer and the guests found it enjoyable.

Maru: Well, I t-think I am r-ready to go.

Kura: Shall I escort you to your room than?

Maru: (Shakes his head yes).

Luna: Thank you, Kura, was it?

Kura: Yes, I am Kura and I serve lady Kairi mostly.

Luna: Well, it is nice to meet you Kura and I hope milord does not become a bother for you.

Maru: (Gives a slight pouty face).  H-hey Luna.

Kura: He is fine, if there is anything you need just ask.

Maru: (Shakes his head yes).

Kura: I will take you to the guest rooms so that you can settle in.

Maru: (Gets up and begins to follow Kura).

Kura: (Goes through the ballroom, some suitors noticing that Maru gets to stay and glaring looking jealous).

Maru: (Sticks close to Kura as Luna follows).

Kura: (Enters a hall leading to the guest’s area).  Are there any questions that you or Luna might have?

Maru: No… Thank you.

Luna: Will it be alright if milord explores the forest tomorrow?

Kura: Of course, this forest is Lady Jennifer’s Forest and acts as a sanctuary to the animals living in it so hunting is not allowed in this area.

Luna: Does milord look like a hunter?

Kura: No but I just thought that I should mention it.  Lady Jennifer cares very much about animals and she spends her free time talking to them… Umm… I mean not that they talk back… She just tells them what is on her mind….

Luna: I see, thank you.

Maru: (Continues to walk silently).

Kura: Yes, ask lady Jennifer about it tomorrow.  She knows the forest well.  (Reaches a door on the side of the wall on the same side of the wall).  This is it, my apologies they did not change the rooms to ones that do not connect.  There is a door connecting the rooms, but it can easily stay locked.  I think the keys are in the dresser.

Luna: Thank you, now milord lets head in.

Maru: (Bows to Kura and follows Luna into the room.  The room is a large bedroom with a king-sized bed with covers with a white embroidered design and a big window with matching curtains.  There is a small walk-in closet with a medium sized bathroom and Luna’s room having the same designs and pattern but a bit smaller).

Kura: I hope that you enjoy your stay.  Let me know if you need anything.  (Bows as she starts to leave).

Luna: (Bows to Kura as she closes the door to the room).

 

Meanwhile Jennifer is walking out of the ballroom after saying goodnight to guests and walks through the halls with Hiki, her noble attitude changing to a look of exhaustion.

Jennifer: Well, this has been quite a night.

Hiki: It really has been Jenny.

Jennifer: What do you think of the boy Kairi invited as a guest, Maru was it?

Hiki: I think he is cute because he reminded me of master when he was younger.

Jennifer: He is quite shy.  I think Kairi is trying to get him to open up more.  That is just like her, always kind and caring towards others.  It makes me proud.

Hiki: True that is nice to do but she cannot push too hard on it.

Jennifer: I know but I think she has done a good job so far.

Hiki: True enough Jenny, it was hard calling you milady for so long.

Jennifer: (Laughs).  Well, I think you did stubble and almost call Chazz master a few times.

Hiki: Hey, hey at least I say it with all my heart.

Jennifer: I know you do, and it is not a bad thing.  (Makes it to her room unlocking the door and yawning as she walks in).  Thank you, you may go back if you wish oh and how is your shoulder?

Hiki: It has been bothering me a little bit, but I will be fine.  I will just go lay down in master’s room now so goodnight, Jenny (Gives Jennifer a hug).

Jennifer: Very well, I think Chazz will tell you to take an easy tomorrow at raining, but one thing is for sure.  I am not missing another day of it myself.

Hiki: Fine but I will be going or do you need my help to undress you.

Jennifer: (Blushes).  Not at all, I can get it myself.  I mean the back is a little difficult with one hand, but I will manage.

Hiki: Well, I can still help.

Jennifer: No please I have got it.  (Tries to reach the back of the dress but it not doing well at it).  … Alright maybe I need help with the ties but that is all.

Hiki: Yes milady.

Jennifer: (Turns around moving her hair away, ready to hold her dress up).  But then you need to rest too.

Hiki: (Undoes the ties of the dress and drags the entire drags the entire dress to the floor).

Jennifer: (Covers herself up being in her undergarments as she looks for something to cover up with but in a little shock and panic).  Hiki!

Hiki: What, you told me to help undress you with the ties, so I did.  I do not see the problem with it.

Jennifer: Not to drag the whole dress down!

Hiki: Oops well at least it is off now.

Jennifer: Yes, umm you may go now!  You are not doing the rest.  (Frantically looks for a nightgown as she tries to cover herself with her hands).

Hiki: (Pokes Jennifer’s chest a little bit having an amused look).  Are you sure Jenny?  I kind of want to see all of you.

Jennifer: (Blushes even more as she backs up as if about to run away as she pouts wiping Hiki’s hands away).  Hiki stop it, I-it’s not funny.

Hiki: (Sighs and nods).  Yes, yes Jenny.

Jennifer: Thank you, please do not do anything like that again.  (Pouts with her arms crossed).

Hiki: Maybe I will, maybe I won’t.

Jennifer: (sighs but still pouts a little bit).  Why do you want to see me so badly?  Please let it go.

Hiki: That is not it.  I just wish to tease you since it is fun.

Jennifer: (Pouts more).  Not fun for me….

Hiki: (Giggles).  Teasing never is.

Jennifer: I cannot get you back for it though.  You are fine with it.

Hiki: It is just that your expressions are cute.

Jennifer: (Continues to pout outs as she attempts to cross her arm over her chest as she looks away).  It is not cute.

Hiki: It is very cute.

Jennifer: Is not and I will finish changing behind the curtain.  I do not need help.  (Goes behind the curtain).

Hiki: Yes, yes, I will leave then.

Jennifer: I will see you tomorrow morning.  (Runs out to hug Hiki before she starts changing then runs back into the curtain).  Goodnight.

Hiki: Goodnight Jenny.

Jennifer: (Changes behind the curtain as Hiki leaves then shakes her head as she laughs a little and once done changing into her nightgown she falls into bed.  She falls asleep almost instantly being very tired).

Hiki: (Heads to Chazz’s room and sleeps just as fast as Jennifer had).

 

Meanwhile still at the ball Kairi finishes talking to everyone who wanted to talk to her and wishes everyone a goodnight.

Tori: It has been a busy night, hasn’t it?

Kairi: Yes, it has.  I think we should head back now, though I am not really tired.

Tori: Yes, we probably should.

Kairi: That does not mean I have to go to sleep though, right?

Tori: Well, I cannot control when you fall asleep, but I should help master.

Kairi: Can I help too?

Tori: No, no it is fine.

Kairi: You can go help Chazz.  I make it to my room on my own.

Kura: (Walks over having just gotten back from taking Maru and Luna to their rooms).  Or I could escort lady Kairi.

Tori: Well, I am her butler first and master’s spirit second.

Kairi: (Looks surprised and then blushes a little bit).  Really…?  But shouldn’t it be the other way around.

Tori: Well, it was my job assigned to me by master and your sister.

Kairi: I-I guess that makes sense.

Kura: Do you wish for me to help Sir Chazz in your place for now then?

Tori: If you would Kura.

Kura: As you wish.  (Bows and heads over to Chazz).

Kairi: Thank you, see you later.  (Bows and starts to walk to her room and going through the halls with a skip in her step).

Tori: What shall we do now?

Kairi: I do not know.  I usually get ready for bed then stare at the sky and maybe train for a little bit if Kura offers to teach me.

Tori: Well, we can say our goodbyes to everyone first while Sir Chazz closes off the ball.

Kairi: Sounds good, I think Maru and Luna already went to their rooms, so I guess let them sleep and people who came to see me are already leaving since I said farewell.  Who else do I need to say goodbye to?

Tori: That Luna was as fast as I was when we were handling the guy… I feel something is different.

Kairi: (Gives a confused look).  What do you mean?

Tori: I am not sure… I just feel something is different about her.

Kairi: (Continues to look confused than changes to a smile as if trying to tease Tori).  Then what is it?  Do you like her?

Tori: Maybe she does have my interest in a way… But no one can compare to you.

Kairi: (Blushes as she looks down with a small smile).  …T-Tori….

Tori: (Smiles with a slight blush towards her).  Shall we get going then?

Kairi: Umm y-yes, we shall… Lead the way.  (Continues to look down and blush).

Tori: (Walks to the main entree hall of the mansion so that Kairi can give her closing remarks).

Kairi: (One by one Kairi says farewell to guests and suitors, come looking upset that they were not picked by Kairi to stay longer).

Tori: (Stands by Kairi while she says farewell to everyone).

Kairi: (Walks everyone out of the mansion, waving and bowing as they leave in carriages).

Tori: Well, we are almost done.

Kairi: Yes now just to smile and wave as they leave I guess.

Tori: It always works.

Kairi: Can we head in then?  I think we are done.

Tori: Yes, we shall.

Kairi: Thank you for being my butler and escorting me.

Tori: Anything for you Kairi, ask me anything you want of me.

Kairi: (Looks up at Tori with a cute expression).  Even when you are not my butler you will still be there for me?

Tori: Well, if I was not what type of person would I be?  Not a good one, that is for sure.

Kairi: (Smiles as her eyes gets a little teary and she blushes a little bit).

Tori: You are someone that matters to me so I must be there when you need me most….

Kairi: (Hugs Tori as she gets tearier eyed hiding her face).  But you matter to me too and I want to be able to protect you.  I know your very strong and I want to be just as strong so that you do not have to worry about me.

Tori: But no matter how strong, someone will always worry.

Kairi: I just do not want to feel like a burden if something happens.  I want to help too.  (Continues to hide her face on Tori’s jacket, wiping her eyes with it a little bit).

Tori: There, there.  (Pets Kairi’s head and perks her head up to wipe her tears away).  You are never a burden to me, you’re too kind and sweet to be one.  If you are then I welcome, it.

Kairi: (Wipes her eyes as she blushes looking away).  Why do you care so much about me?

Tori: Well because you are part of my family as well as master and lady Jennifer.  You are also part of that… And some other things I don’t think I can explain yet.

Kairi: (Begins to smile and laugh a little bit).  Family has to care about each other no matter what… Even if everyone here is a little crazy.

Tori: (Laughs).  True, true family is important.

Kairi: (Her tears stop as she smiles and hug Tori).

Tori: And I hope to always be the person you need me too be… For I always will be your shoulder to cry on… Since mine are kind of big anyways.

Kairi: No, it is just that I am really short and small, and you will always be the person needed just by being yourself.

Tori: Well, you may be short, but you definitely leave a good impact.

Kairi: How do I do that?

Tori: Well, you are a kind person with a resolve to be stronger and helpful, but you don’t let the control you.

Kairi: I remember when I first got my power stuff, I drained your energy and hurt you and Chazz… I got scared that I might do that again if I got upset again so I do not hurt you or anyone else.  I am getting a lot better at it because I work on it a lot.

Tori: (Pets Kairi’s head).  It’s fine Kairi, nobody got mad at you, but you shouldn’t hold up your emotions at all.

Kairi: No I am not, I just do not get frustrated or angry that often so I do not think that’s a problem.  I hope Yami can do the same one day.

Tori: Whatever you say.

Kairi: (Pouts as they arrive to her room).  I can control it.  At first, I did not really like my power but then I learned I do not just take power.  (Takes a little bit of dark energy from Tori).  I can give it back because of Kura as well.  (As she says this, she gives energy back to Tori).

Tori: Well then that is much better than before, very good.

Kairi: (Smiles proudly).  Thank you!  (Opens her door and goes into her room, Yami appearing and sitting on the windowsill).

Yami: Finally, that lame ball is done.  I’m going out so later.

Tori: Where to Yami?

Yami: None of your business, just out for some fresh air.

Tori: Watch out we have guests staying over.

Yami: Just need some air, fine I’ll stick to the shadows.

Kairi: Umm alright be careful.

Tori: Whatever you say Yami.

Yami: Whatever.  (Jumps out of the window).

Kairi: He does that almost every night, I wonder why.

Tori: I’m not sure either.  I just hope that our guests do not notice him.

Kairi: They should not be able to.  It is pretty dark out but anyways what do you want to do now?

Tori: I will head back to master after you are in bed.

Kairi: Aww do I have to sleep.  (Pouts as she crosses her arms).

Tori: Well, if you are feeling tired yes.

Tori: Especially since you have been in that dress for the ball most of today.  Comfort is important.

Kairi: Fine I will get changed but I still have trouble sleeping since I do not have anything to give my energy besides you and I do not want to keep you up.

Tori: No, I will just give the energy to master to deal with.

Kairi: (Pouts more and laughs).  So mean.

Tori: Well, what are we going to do then?

Kairi: I do not know.  Usually cuddling one of my stuffed animals helps.  I have a bunch of them by my bed.  (Points to the mountain of stuffed animals and cute plushies many being of bunnies)..

Tori: Then why don’t you do that.

Kairi: I guess so oh hold on.  (Goes into her closet and closes the closet door as she changes into her nightgown).  Hold on I will be out in a minute!

Tori: Alright lady Kairi.

Kairi: (Hums as she changes, she sings the song from before that she hummed on the way to the lake with Tori).

Tori: Very nice song….  (Leans his head back closing his eyes as he enjoys the tune).

Kairi: Oh, I tend to sing when doing chores and daily things….  (Comes out wearing a solid pink nightgown made of frilly silk fabric and in a sundress style).

Tori: Well then, very nice gown.

Kairi: Thank you, it’s my favorite nightgown.  (Smiles happily as she puts her stuffed animals on her bed, a few of them almost as big as her.  She also sets some stones on the windowsill and bedside table seeming to have a collection of shiny stones of all kinds).

Tori: Well, it does look pretty.

Kairi: Thank you!  (Hugs Tori then does not let go feeling comforted and at ease in a way).

Tori: Come on, time for bed lady Kairi.  Not that I have a problem with this really.

Kairi: Aww but can I cuddle with you like when we waited for everyone by the lake.  (Looks up at Tori with a cute pouty face).

Tori: (Sighs but has slight worry about her sister and her actions toward him).  Fine but just for a bit.

Kairi: (Jumps into Tori’s arms snuggling into him).  Yay!

Tori: But only for a bit.

Kairi: Deal!  (Smiles happily at Tori).

Tori: (Sighs again as he holds Kairi but is a bit akward about it at first).

Kairi: (Is in Tori’s arms as he stands and pouts a little).  What is wrong?  Do you not want a hug?

Tori: It isn’t that.  I just feel in danger from your sister.

Kairi: It is alright.  I do not think she will hurt you… Yes, I do not think so though she may chase you with her bow aimed at you.

Tori: (Looks down at Kairi with an unamused look).  That does not really help me feel better.

Kairi: (Hugs Tori).  Sorry, how about this.  I will protect you from sis no matter what, deal?

Tori: I couldn’t ask you to do that.

Kairi: You know I would though.

Tori: I know but still.

Kairi: Just for a little bit… It is just that you are even better to hold then my stuffed animals… I am not sure why… It is just comfortable….

Tori: Whatever you say milady.  I’m still your butler for today.

Kairi: Yay then cuddles it is… I mean if you want to.

Tori: Well, you are quite soft and comfortable.

Kairi: (Blushes a little bit).  So, is that a yes?  We do not have to lay on my bed, it is comfortable like laying on a cloud though.  We could just stay right here.  It is comfortable too.

Tori: Well, the bed is comfortable.  Well at least more than the chair.

Kairi: I think so to, it’s fun to jump on too sometimes.  I think Chazz needs a bigger bed in his room and 1 as soft as mine too.  I mean there are 3 of you in his room and 1 of me in my room and this bed could fit so many people easily.  That does not make sense for just me.

Tori: Well, his bed can fit 5 people at most I would guess so it is fine.

Kairi: Alright but if he wants me to remodel and expand his room let me know.

Tori: Alright I will pass the message along.

Kairi: Alright now!  (Hops out of Tori’s hold and then tackles him as she laughs but then snuggles up to him feeling relaxed).  Thank you, your just very comfortable to lay on.  I could sleep like this all day if I were able to.

Tori: (Laughs).  I know you could.  Body warmth is the greatest pillow…. There is something comforting about such things.

Kairi: It really… Is… So, goodnight….  (Sighs as dark energy starts going from her to Tori as she drifts off to sleep happily).

Tori: (Pet Kairi’s head).  Now, now… I cannot bring myself from a beautiful girl and risk breaking her fragile heart….  (Fades into a nearby shadow).  But I must be going no matter how much I do not want too… She would be happier with someone else….  (Looks at the door as there is sadness in his eyes but tries to not let his heart control his head.  He doesn’t know if he could give her that happiness being unsure and conflicted with himself).  Kura you can tuck her in now.

Kura: (Appears from the shadow by the door bowing).  Of course.  (Once Tori fades away, she tucks Kairi in with a slight smile then sits at the desks as she writes in a little book).

 

Meanwhile Yami has trouble in the forest.

Yami: (As he hops out of the window and lands, he goes into a shadow form making it harder for people to see him only his red eyes glow a little bit, the rest a shadow of his figure as he talks to himself).  This is dumb, no one’s going to see me anyways but whatever.  (Walks into the forest hands in his pockets as he heads into the darkest part of the woods he can find).  This is far enough I think….  (Jumps and sits on a tree branch as he absorbs darkness with his eyes closed and sighs to himself as if a weight is lifted off of him and he can relax).  Like a breath of fresh air.  (As Yami relaxes he hears someone yell out “Rise with the full moon”!  Yami sits up looking alert as he looks for where the voice had come from).  What the-?   (As Yami looks around he sees a light source that flashes at random position on the trees.  As he looks at the light as it appears and disappears looking more alert but forgetting to stop taking dark energy.  He is still in shadow form as he wonders “what the fuck is going on” but then the light source goes closer to Yami as he absorbs more energy.  When the light gets closer Yami become on edge as he hops to another branch that he hides behind but peaks out a little bit feeling kind of freaked out for some reason as he hides readying himself for anything with a knife ready.  The light source passes him by but as the source passes by him he sees a white mask that resembles a normal knights mask but white with a curvy design that leads to a moon crest on the forehead).  What the hell is that….  (He whispers as he peeks out going into his true child form to crouch and see getting a better look seeing the light source runoff away from the forest.  He follows it to a field, Yami jumping off the closest tree to it and crouches under it as he watches being slightly fascinated by it).  Whoa.  (Looks amazed by it standing to get a better look but it is still hard to be seen since in shadow form only his red eyes the glow a little.  The light source makes the platforms rise Yami slowly getting closer as curiosity takes over his mind getting close enough that he reaches his hand out and touches the platform wondering what it is and what is going on looking even more fascinated.  Once he touches the platform the platform falls back into place as the light source looks at Yami’s hand.  Yami reaches towards the light but takes his hand away from it quickly since it seems to burn him.  He looks surprised as he falls backwards a little bit but then alert as the light source fades into the forest).  Oh no you’re not getting away… What is that…?  (Starts to run after the light source but the light source fly’s past Yami as he feels a blade slide against him as he looks shocked covering his arm a shallow cut on him as he turns quickly stopping to process it all and looks at the light wondering “did it just cut me” being too fast to tell right away).  What the hell?  (The cut is then surrounded by light energy which burns Yami slightly).  Ahh!  (Covers his wounds more in shock of what’s happening as he absorbs more darkness as he tries to repair his arm a little or at least make the burn go away but the light source comes back and does the same thing).  Ahh, what the fuck!  (Doesn’t know why but has the instinct to run and does so as he unsheathes one of his knifes, readying himself but the light source surrounds him.  Yami rises on a light platform hearing 2 voices one of a boy and one of a woman).

????: Get out and never come back.  Unless you want to die, this is your only warning we will give.

Yami: What, who the hell are you? I’m not scared, bring it!  (Unsheathes his other knife being fully alert and ready for anything but then the platform shoots him away Yami slamming into a tree.  He stubbles to get back up as his hands go to his side since he got wounded then but ignores it readying the other dagger as he charges more dark energy from the darkness of the night being absorbed into him).  Who the hell are you!  (The light source had already disappeared Yami pausing not knowing why but feels scared as he runs back to the mansion panicky as he holds his side not knowing why he feels so scared.  His instincts take over once getting the mansion still panicking in a fight or flight and out of breath as he jumps through a closed window thinking its Kairi’s room but really it is Chazz’s room.  Hiki and Tori there relaxing or sleeping or were as Yami rolls onto the ground as he falls and is also out of breath).

Hiki and Tori: (Immediately runs over to Yami).

Yami: (Holds his side as he scrambles away until backed against the wall looking scared, panicked and not in his right mind set.  He is continuing to absorb darkness because of his panic).

Hiki: (Puts Yami in a barrier to calm him down and stop the absorbing).

Yami: (After a moment he starts to breathe regularly.  His head lowers as he tries to figure out what happened, his side still having a little burning pain, but he ignores it).

Hiki: Yami are you calmed down now?  Why are you panicking?

Yami: I-I don’t know, there was this light… I-I what the hell was that….  (Stubbles as he tries to make sense of it, Hiki and Tori noticing the small cuts on his arms and the one on his side that still glows of light a little bit).

Hiki: Yami calm down and tell us what happened while I help her wounds.

Yami: I’m fine; it’s just a scratch.  (Sits up a little bit but still leans against the wall).  But I don’t know, there was this light the kept moving around.  I followed it and it created these platforms.  I touched on and it ran so I ran after it then it attacked… It spoke too… I could have sworn I heard two voices at once though… I don’t even know… What the hell was that.

Tori: Like rising pieces of ground in the air?

Yami: Yeah, like that but looked like light.  (Still breaths a little heavily but has completely stopped absorbing darkness).

Hiki: (Manages to stop the light energy by taking it out herself and closing the wound).

Yami: I told you I’m fine, just a scratch… Oh yeah… Sorry about the window I guess….

Hiki: No if that scratch stayed the light energy would have entered your energy and tore you apart.

Yami: No wonder it was burning.  (Laughs a little bit as he looks at the ceiling looking a little tired).  I can’t tell you anymore of what happened… Hell I can’t even make sense of it.

Hiki: Well alright, make sure to try and be careful.  You don’t need Miss Kairi worrying about you as well.

Tori: (Thinks to himself).  Suddenly a ball of a light source but this spirit energy and two voices and floating platforms… Very interesting indeed.

Yami: Yeah, I’ll try and think of anything else and tell you in the morning but that’s it… Look I didn’t mean to go out looking for trouble… I just needed some fresh air.

Tori: No, I understand that… Master is still finishing cleaning the ballroom, so we have time to restore the window.  Let’s hide this event from everyone until we see what this new light will do next.

Yami: Ok whatever, see you in the morning.  I’m going.  (Fades into the shadows as he says this).

Hiki: Well, I will get started.  Do you want to help Tori?

Tori: Sure, but I am curious of this light.

Hiki: Yes, yes now get fixing.
