Chapter 25

Orion: You’re not here anymore… Even as much I want you to be… I can’t stop loving you… Even since your mom passed, you’re all I had… I know the moments were tough for you as well… But you just cared if I could smile again… I don’t know how much love I have to you and how much I wish you were here… But I would do it all again even knowing this pain would happen.

 

Orion stares downwards as he goes through his memories of his daughter.  The early ones he remembers make him smile a little at least especially seeing her smile.  He sighs as he looks at the ducks in the pond as he goes through those precious memories almost like he is reliving them if only for a few moments of reminiscing.

It is quite a long time ago when Orion had his last contract to go to the human world, rarely getting the chance to do so at the time with all his council member responsibilities.  It is about time for him to come back but with some things about him changing during this trip all because of something very small in his arms wrapped in a soft pink blanket.  Shizen is the one that is at the meeting place with a gate back to their world finally wanting to greet the person like a big brother to her though their older sister Mizuko not there to greet them planning to go and meet them once her work is done.  Shizen sits and waits near the earth city alone sighing as she looks out at the mountains to pass the time, Orion being a bit later than expected.

Orion: (He walks over to Shizen while holding something special).  Oh, hey Shizen, how you doing?

Shizen: (Sighs with a smile).  Took you long enough to return.  (She stands with a grin to look up at Orion but must pause noticing something different about him.  Besides his beard being trimmed a little she sees he is cradling a pink blanket raising her eyebrows in a puzzled expression).  I hope your contract went well; I look forward to hearing it over drinks.  I never thought pink is really your color though, is there a style change I hadn’t heard of, or did you bring home a souvenir?

Orion: (He smirks as he rubs his head in a nervous way).  Well In a way you could say that and hey I could make it work.  Maybe should talk about this at my place so come on by.

Shizen: (Grins more).  If you say so, I heard from Nagi, Shiro and Mizuko will arrive later to celebrate your return as well.  I just arrived first.  (She laughs patting Orion’s back to go.  As she does this she starts to hear something like a whimper of an infant before it fully cries coming from the pink blanket in Orion’s arms instantly stopping in her tracks frozen in complete shock).

Orion: (He looks behind him to Shizen).  So uhh… Umm I wanted to surprise you at home, but I guess this works here as well.

Shizen: (Still is in shock hearing the cries slowly putting her hand down as she tries to put words and thoughts together).  … Orion?… The pink blanket… Umm… Is crying….

Orion: (He reveals the baby’s face with the dark brown curious eyes the baby has).  Yes, it is Shizen.

Shizen: (Still is completely surprised looking down at the baby with her brown eyes looking up at her seeing she has dark brown almost black hair as well, being amazed how small she is.  She pauses again but instead begins to smile looking at the little girl’s eyes).  Orion… She is yours… Isn’t she?

Orion: (As he rubs the baby’s hair as she plays with one of his fingers, he shakes his head yes).

Shizen: (Calms down staring at the baby girl that smiles making her smile as well).  She has your eyes… She’s so small… A giant goofball like you made something so tiny?

Orion: (He smiles at first but then frowns for a second as he looks at the baby but regains the smile).  Yeah, I guess I did.

Shizen: (Looks up at Orion with a grin).  I take it there will be quite a story with this contract to the human world you had.  I’ll need to hear it with the others at your house.  (She looks more closely at Orion’s face giving a sincere smile).  I can see a change in you though… The change I see in all new fathers… Especially ones who have a little girl….  (She looks back down smiling at the little baby girl in Orion’s arm seeing her reach up at Orion still holding onto his finger with her small hand).

Orion: Yeah… I couldn’t stay the same way I was before… I had to change for her….

Shizen: I see….  (She has a big grin).  Well, you should have sent something telling Mizuko and I about making us aunts to such a cute little girl!  (She pats Orion on the back to go towards his home).  Well let’s get going, you have some big news to share and celebrated on!

Orion: (He smiles as he rubs the baby’s head).  Yeah… I was meaning to do that while over there but… I wanted to surprise you two and yeah let’s go home.

Shizen: Yes, and tell me the name of this beautiful little girl when we are all together, ooh this is so exciting!  (She puts an arm around Orion’s shoulder as they walk as she continues to talk excitedly about ideas for Orion’s little girl excited to suddenly be an aunt).

 

It is not a very long walk, and it passes quickly with so many things to discuss.  They reach one of the stone homes up the mountain being carved out to make the earth city expand to what it will be eventually the house having two floors with a humble and simple look to it.

Shizen: (Still has a hand on Orion’s shoulder looking at the house).  Same as you left it.  Good to be home?  (She glances around seeing a few puddles of water as well as traces of dark and light energy).  Huh I thought they would be late from what I was told.

Orion: (He looks around and hears some talking nearby).  Well, I guess you weren’t the first one here after all Shizen.

Shizen: (Pouts).  At least I was the first one to learn such a great surprise.  (As they hear an explosion of dark energy inside the house making her pause).  … Hmm.

Orion: (He sighs).  What happened now in my home.  (He begins to get nervous about the whole reunion).

Shizen: Worse case is you don’t have a home to bring the little one to, only one way to find out.  (She pats Orion’s back going forward to go inside and figure out what happened).

Orion: (He laughs nervously).  I hope I have something at least.

Shizen: (Laughs as Orion opens the door to go inside first seeing a simple living room with a kitchen behind it with rooms to the side as well as stairs on one side. They can see two women by the kitchen as well as a man wearing black and dark grey and black hair and a little boy looking similar to him but about 6- or 7-years old cleaning up a few pottery broken items).

Shiro: (They immediately recognize the voice of the woman with pure white hair turns a little having her back turned to everyone look in back at the two cleaning with a tone knowing they are in trouble).  Nagi, Kishi you better clean that before Orion gets here.  I am sure that he will not be happy to see such a mess by you two.

Nagi: (He is cleaning as he sighs).  Oh, not at all and certainly wouldn’t happen with you here as well.

Kishi: (He is in a panic cleaning as he has dark energy coming out of his arms).

Mizuko: (Smiles back at Kishi wearing her normal blue kimonos and her black hair and blue highlighted hair down with deep ocean blue eyes).  It’s alright Kishi, just try to calm down.  All children start to show their energy and power at this age, it’s normal.

Shiro: (Sighs knowing Mizuko is right trying to calm her frustrations).  Yes Kishi, just follow you father.

Shizen: (Grins looking at Kishi).  So, your starting to develop more darkness energy then huh Kishi? 

Shiro: (Smiles having not turned around yet).  Yes, Nagi is very proud about it.  It looks like his energy will be just as strong as his father’s one day.  (She turns toward everyone wearing a white flowing dress draping over her growing stomach seeing both Shizen and Orion at the doorway jumping a little).  Oh, Orion your home.

Mizuko: (Quickly goes over with a smile being excited to have her brother home).  Welcome home Orion.

Orion: (He walks in through the doorway holding the baby in the blanket as he begins to talk a little nervously).  Hey everybody, nice to see you all again.

Kishi: (He is too busy cleaning as Nagi stare is immediately attracted to the blanket in his arms but can see the babies face clearly becoming in shock).

Mizuko: (Can see as well coming closer becoming in shock as well looking from Orion to the baby in his arms repeatedly).

Shiro: (Goes up from behind Mizuko to see Orion).  Happy you are home, Mizuko and I are making dinner to celebrate and hear all your stories.  (She sees the baby and instantly stops her greeting staring at the baby like everyone else).

Shizen: (Grins patting Orion’s back).

Nagi: Orion… When did this happen?  How could this happen?  She is so tiny!  How did that work?! 

Kishi: (He is still confused on how this is so shocking to everyone while scratching his head)

Orion: (He sighs).  I’ll talk about it all later, don’t worry about it.

Shizen: (Smirks at Nagi).  Come on Nagi you know how it happened, you have one child and another on the way.

Shiro: (Is in just as much shock as Nagi).  Is she really yours, it is so sudden as well?  Is she from here or your trip to the human world?  She is so small though I would imagine a child from you would be a giant like yourself.

Mizuko: (Looks closely first at the little baby in Orion’s arms her eyes having a little sparkle in excitement).  … She has your eyes… She’s so cute….

Orion: (He smiles as he looks down at the baby as Nagi gets flustered and sighs).  Yeah… She really is.

Mizuko: (Still has a sparkle of excitement in her eyes).  Does this mean I’m an aunty?  Can I hold her?   What is her name?

Shizen: (Pouts going beside Mizuko to look at the baby girl who looks around the area in wonder cutely).  No fair, I was going to be the aunty to hold her first.  I saw her first.

Orion: (He laughs nervously as Mizuko stares down Shizen for the comment with a pout).  Her name’s Sarah… And yes, you can Mizuko.

Mizuko: (Goes to hold Sarah rocking her a little, Shizen leaning over to see as well).  Hi little girl, we are your aunties.

Shizen: (Cannot help but smile at Sarah who smiles and reach up to their hair with a little bit of baby babbling).  That’s right, we are going to spoil you so much.

Orion: (He smiles seeing the care from Mizuko and Shizen however he feels a sadness come over him).

Shiro: (Notices the sad look and frowns with a questioning look).  Orion is something wrong?  (Once mentioned Shizen and Mizuko look at Orion with concern but still are careful of Sarah in their arms).

Orion: (He breaks out of his mindset).  Oh… I’m sorry I was just daydreaming really, my apologies.

Shiro: (Still has a questioning look but looks at baby Sarah still pondering when this happened saying calmly).  Orion, I have never heard word of a relationship before you left… So, she was born in the human world wasn’t she… With a human mother.

Shizen and Mizuko: (Both look at each other, to Sarah, then to Orion not really connecting those dots being too excited to be holding their new baby niece).

Orion: Yeah….  (He looks down as if not really enjoying this topic).  It was with the Mis I was contracted too… But because this had happened the contract became voided… She couldn’t handle the labor, something happened I don’t know the details of fully but yes… You caught on much faster than I expected.

Shiro: (Looks in thought and in sympathy as well as the others).  I see, there are not many instances so far of spirits and humans having children.  It is current an issue the council brings up for future notice but the mother being human has not happened… I wonder how that affects the child.

Mizuko: (Has a sympathetic look as well).  If she was born a spirit, she would not be able to stay in the human world for long… At least without possible problems I assume.

Shizen: (Looks down at Sarah).  So, you went back with your daughter….  (She looks at Orion as well both she and Mizuko coming closer with Sarah in her arms making a few giggly baby notices seeing and reaching to Orion).

Nagi: (He is by Shiro now as Kishi is finishing up).  If it becomes like that than from what we know… If the spirit is half human, they could survive in either world by themselves however with limitations with spirit powers their age wouldn’t be as long as normal for spirits.

Shiro: (Still is in thought).  Hmm that all depends how many traits the child is born with from either parent though… I could do a checkup really quickly.

Shizen: (Smiles).  Might as well, you and Mizuko are the best healers you can get.

Orion: Alright… And I knew of that… However, I couldn’t stop being excited for having her.

Shiro: (Smiles).  I am not saying it is something you should not be excited about this, in fact becoming a parent is one of the greatest feelings in the world.  Nagi and I both know this fully.  (She rubs her stomach with one hand and pats Kishi’s head with the other, messing up his hair a little smiling at him for a second before she continues).  I just want to make sure your child is healthy and how much of your side was passed down to her.  It is a common checkup really.

Nagi: So, there is nothing to worry about Orion… Oh trust me I was a huge mess when it came Kishi because I was going crazy with worry.

Shiro: (Laughs).  Oh yes and every time after Kishi cried you thought you broke him until you figured out he is just like you getting upset when you don’t get your nap.

Shizen: (Grins and laughs looking at Nagi and patting Kishi’s head).  Yes even more Kishi looks and acts like a mini version of yourself Nagi.  Makes me think you’re making a mini army of yourself.

Shiro: (Laughs as well).  Well, I can definitely tell this next one will be darkness as well so I do not feel that is far off.

Nagi: Well, I don’t want to feel like outnumbering you, I know you want a little girl really badly.

Shiro: (Laughs more).  Well, we cannot control how many that will take.  For now, just focus on a check up on Orion’s little girl.  (Holds out her hands to Orion who is holding his daughter to take Sarah from him for a moment).

Orion: (He hesitates at first but then gives Sarah to Shiro for her to do the checkup).

Shiro: Thank you Orion, it will not take long.  (She smiles at Orion to reassure him then goes to sit on the couch a little stiffly with Sarah smiling down at her making the baby smile).  Oh, hi there little girl, you have such a big bright smile there.  I could mistake you for a light spirit at first.

Shizen: (Laughs with a grin taking a seat with Mizuko).  You know what, she’s got a point.

Orion: She is like her mother, always shining in a special way….  (He looks down, but Nagi sits next to him to help reassure him it is fine).

Shiro: I am sure she was quite a woman to see so much change in you now.  I am sure little Sarah here will do the same for you.  (She smiles reassuringly as she begins to concentrate making her hand glow with light as she places it on Sarah’s back moving her hand a little.  Sarah seems very talkative during this making many baby like sounds with a smile seeing Kishi closes trying to reach and play with a little dark smoke coming off his hair making a few laugh).

Kishi: (He sees the baby he keeps trying to make small tricks with his energy, so they don’t go out of hand as he makes new clouds and shapes).

Mizuko: (Smiles watching Kishi play with darkness and Sarah eyes watch enjoying the shapes).  He’s pretty good for just growing into his energy.

Shizen: (Grins).  Sarah seems to like the dark energy too.  Great job Kishi you’ll make a great big brother.

Kishi: (He smiles as he makes more shapes).  I don’t think it’s the energy because shapes made.

Shizen: (Grins patting Kishi’s head).  I know but she seems to like the smoke of your power as well, it’s very unique.

Shiro: (Is busy concentrating on Sarah getting a small frown in her concentration making Orion’s worry rise having watched intently).

Orion: (He then sits up having begun to worry after he was laying back).  Is everything ok Shiro?

Shiro: (Sighs keeping her focus as she talks).  It is nothing too serious.  She is a spirit, so she took a lot of your side on that.  She probably was rushed growing in the pregnancy then which might be the cause for her energy being so low.  There are many spirits who are not genetically given much energy, Kishi is one who is growing to have a great amount for energy for example of the opposite.  With Sarah I cannot feel very much of that spirit energy so she will be weaker compared to other spirits.

Orion: (He is silent for a moment). … That is fine since I just want her to be happy before anything else.  If she needs protecting, I’ll make sure to protect her with everything I got.

Shizen: You hold the record for strongest spirit strength wise so I don’t think anyone would mess with her.

Shiro: She probably will be able to do smaller earth abilities when she’s about Kishi’s age but that is all I can guess to this point.  We will have to see when that time comes.  (She smiles at Sarah carefully offering her back to Orion.  Sarah is looking up at him but still has her bright smile up at him reaching for his beard).

Orion: (He smiles as he takes Sarah back into his arms).  Then I’ll just be the best dad to her.

Nagi: (He pats Orion on the back).  Knowing on how you are you will be just fine so don’t have to worry about that.

Mizuko: (Smiles at Orion).  If you need help, we are here as well.

Shizen: (Grins).  That’s right and even if don’t call on us to help we still will and will spoil her greatly!

Orion: (He laughs).  I know you will… I know you will be just fine Sarah… I know so.

Mizuko: (Places a hand on Orion’s shoulder with her compassionate smile).  She will and you have a lot of support to help her grow.

Shizen: Yes, so let’s celebrate tonight and get you some baby stuff tomorrow.

Shiro: I will help as well since I have my own to think about shopping for.

Mizuko: It will be nice for her to have someone her age to play with.

Shiro: (As she is about to say something she burps unexpectedly quickly covering her mouth as a little darkness comes out).

Shizen: (Bursts out in laughter).  Looks like another darkness kid for sure.

Nagi: (He can’t help but laugh as he hugs Shiro from behind).  Now there’s the reason why I love you.

Kishi: (He laughs as well).

Orion: (Through all his nerves he cannot help but smile as well seeing Shiro do that).  Well, I’m sure you will need support just as much as me.

Shizen and Mizuko: (Go on either side of Sarah trying to get her to smile again and going daw when she yawns).

Shiro: I love you too Nagi.  (She smiles and laughs then looks at Orion).  Oh, you do not need to worry Orion, just provide a good life for your little girl.  (As she takes a breath from the burp a slight amount of darkness smoke is absorbed from Nagi and Kishi when she inhales pausing not remembering that happening with Kishi but turns to Nagi with a smile the others not noticing as much as them).  Odd.

Nagi: (As he feels slightly out of breath for a slight second, he could feel energy being sucked out of him but there has been that type of feeling for a while… He then begins to have an understanding).  This next one will be quite a handful.

Orion: (As he sees the action as well, he can’t take his attention away from Sarah knowing Nagi will handle it just fine as he plays with her as does Kishi a little bit to help out).

 

Orion settles into his home and coming back a father many helping him out especially Shizen and Mizuko.  During his free time from his work with the council and taking care of his little girl he spends his time crafting many things out of stone for Sarah like a crib and furniture to fill her room.  His home slowly becomes pinker but he not minding it wanting to do the best he can for his little girl making him smile with every day with his daughter not leaving his side for long being so protective of her.  Sarah grows slowly like many other spirits being a little bigger but still very small compared to other earth spirits the people in his territory treating her like a princess of the territory.  Orion is remembering all the big moments she had starting with her first word remembering the feeling he had in that proud moment and many others even at the very small things.

Sarah: (Is still a infant at this time looking about a year old as Orion holds her.  She waves her hand trying to grab a pink butterfly mobile dangling in her room with a sparkle in her eyes Orion having figured out she like the color pink.  She tries reaching and grabbing anything that catches her eyes she giggles and makes random silly sounds in her baby talk).  Ba ba!

Orion: (He smiles as kisses her head).  Great job Sarah, I’m so proud of you right now but come on let’s go to the park with Shizen.

Sarah: (Still reaches to grab anything she sees giggling one hand gripped into Orion’s beard as they get ready to go.  Before Orion carries her away, she reaches for pink blanket beginning to cry as move further away from it to leave).

Orion: (He notices that he didn’t bring the blanket with him).  Yes, I’m sorry about that.  (He grabs the blanket and gives it to Sarah).

Sarah: (Grabs the blanket clinging to it as Orion gets up to leave again.  She waves her hand a little waving to a duck statue in the living room then grabs onto Orion’s beard again reaching up being very active and talkative to him that day in her baby babbling.  One thing gets Orion to stop in his tracks before grabbing their coats reaching for things around to try and get his attention).  Baba… Dada….

Orion: (He immediately stops and feels his heart flutter greatly).  Oh… Sarah you are just the cutest, I love you so much for saying that.

Sarah: (Giggles in her babbling from the encouragement as she waves her hands with a bright smile saying the word repeatedly though not correct every time Orion realizing she was attempting to say that with baba).  Dada… Dada, baba, dada!

Orion: (He holds her as tight as he can while being gentle with her).  And you Sarah… I love you my little princess.

Sarah: (Continues her babbling moving around less seeming to settle down in the hold as she quietly repeats herself). 

Orion: (Stays like that for a few moments being completely happy to be her first word.  He collects himself but keeps a hold tight on his little girl.  She starts to yawn planning to go and walk back with Shizen since Sarah is yawning as he can’t wait to tell her such great news of her first word).

 

The memory moves on to another big moment to Orion, Sarah still looking about the age of 1 though older when Mizuko visits his home.  Orion agrees when asking to watch her as well having brought presents every time she visited just like Shizen as well.  This time she brings some clothes and toys sitting and showing Sarah her gifts as she crawls around sitting up with a bright smile at the pretty toys.  Orion is doing chores and some unfinished paperwork he needed to sign on the table looking over every moment or too with a smile.

Mizuko: (Has a smile helping Sarah try on her new outfit and showing her the new toys as well, setting them out for her to look at with a hopeful look she likes them).  There’s a big smile, do you like them?  I picked them up just for you.

Sarah: (Is looking at all the new toys in wonder most being figures of animals in different colors Mizuko and Shizen noticing how much she liked things with pink and animals in the past.  She begins to crawl forward to reach of one of them grabbing a blue duck with pink bill and looking at it in wonder.  She then waves it towards Orion calling out as if to get his attention and look at what she found).  Da!

Orion: (He smiles as he waves to Sarah with a pen in his hand).  Yes Sarah, nice duck you have there.

Mizuko: (Laughs happy she likes the toy).  I’m happy you like it, Sarah.  (She claps her hands together with a smile trying to get Sarah to do too same).

Sarah: (Starts to do the same getting a big bright smile back while clapping with the duck then remembering it, she puts the duck in her mouth slobbering on it a little).

Mizuko: (Laughs as she reaches over to get a towel).  Very silly, I’m glad you like the duck.  Can you say ducky… Du-cky?

Sarah: (As Mizuko motions to the duck she looks down at it while repeating what her aunt it trying to get her to say).  Du… Dada, dada, duc!  (She waves the duck at Orion again).

Mizuko: (Laughs again and hugs her little niece).

Orion: Well, I think I wouldn’t have a say in cloths and toys since you and Shizen have practically filled up her closet without me really doing much.  I do admit it does fit her very well and I’m glad she is enjoying herself.

Mizuko: (Keeps support of Sarah standing whose more focused on the duck with a smile).  Well, we’re her aunts.  Of course, we will pitch in with clothes and style.

Orion: I know but I’m happy that she has you two around to at least have mother like images around, so I’m glad.

Mizuko: (Has her kind and compassionate smile).  We will do our best when we can.  I’m just happy to spend time with my little niece.  Sarah has such a big smile, and I can see you have the same smile around her.  Isn’t that right Sarah?

Sarah: (Holds the duck towards Orion continuing to smile).  Da!

Orion: (He smiles as he gets out of his chair though he has not finished his papers as he sits down in front of Sarah and kisses her head).  Yes, it’s true, I’m weak when it comes to her

Mizuko: it’s just you’ve become more of a gentle giant ever since.

Sarah: (Smiles still handing the duck to Orion but instantly wanting it back she gets a little unbalanced standing still in front of Orion but regains a little almost taking a step towards Orion more but very wobbly for a few seconds pointing to the duck).  Duc da!

Orion: (He smiles greatly as he sees Sarah almost walk for the first time).  Yes, Sarah just like that!  (He says softly though he is not yelling).  Come to daddy, come on!

Mizuko: (Gasps covering her mouth in shock staying perfectly still not wanting to ruin the attempt).

Sarah: (Is still a bit wobbly but takes a step her arms waving a bit to try and keep balance as she’s determined to reach Orion.  She then takes two small steps both looking at her in amazement at her first actual steps with no help).  Dada!

Orion: (He smiles greatly as he holds out his arms to Sarah for her to get a hug).

Sarah: (Continues to walk two more steps to get to the hug but on the fourth steps wobbles and starts to fall forward).

Orion: (He catches her and kisses her head).  You did great Sarah, I’m so proud of you!

Sarah: (Hangs onto Orion but also takes back the duck).  Dada duc!

Mizuko: (Still has her mouth open in shock but smiles at the exciting moment).  That was amazing Sarah, I’m so proud of you too!

Orion: (He tears up a little but just keeps smiling seeing Sarah continue to make progress).

Mizuko: (Is a little teary eyed as well but smiles at Orion and Sarah).

Sarah: (Seems more concerned with showing Orion the duck some more not seeming to understand what he’s proud of her for but has a big bright smile and giggle in the hug).

 

Orion continues to hug Sarah and encourage her more to take a few more steps and say a few more words each day.  Every time he hears a new word or sees her walk a little further until she wonders all about the house curiously his grin growing each time.  He thinks of another memory when Sarah is a toddler taking her to a new pond on the higher part of the city.  He holds her on his shoulder until they arrive Shizen tagging along and sitting on a bench watching Sarah begin to explore with Orion.  She is about 3 or 4 at this time her eyes sparkling as she sees the new small pond.  It is the same one he sits at in the present with his statue in the background though without a workshop.  The pond is small yet peaceful with a faint breeze being a bit higher on the mountain.

Sarah: (Is wearing one of her frilly pink dresses with a brown sash and a ribbon in her dark brown long hair.  She points at the pond excitedly while being helped with a bright smile).  Daddy water!

Orion: (He feels Sarah tug onto his hand).  Yes, it’s one of the ponds that I asked auntie Mizuko help with since we needed more water areas.  I’m glad you like it.

Sarah: (Still points at the pond but then hears a quack from the pond her eyes widening in wonder her excitement growing jumping a little from it and pulling Orion’s hand to get there faster).

Shizen: (Grins seeing the reaction to the ducks seen swimming in the pond).  With a little help to some wildlife of course.

Orion: (he follows along with Sarah as he is being pulled with her just stopping before the pond seeing the excitement in her eyes as she see’s duck for the first time).  Well, how do you like them, Sarah?

Sarah: (Continues pointing excitedly seeing the family of ducks better).  Real ducky, real ducky!

Orion: (He sits down by the pond with Sarah in his lap).  Well let’s sit here and watch them, ok?

Sarah: (Still moves around to see the ducks better wanting to get closer as she picks out her favorite blue duck toy waving it at the duck excitedly trying to get them to come closer).  Hi ducky!

Shizen: (Smiles sitting on a bench closest to them).  If you are calm and gentle with them, they may come closer easier.

Orion: (He smiles as he watches Sarah).  Just make sure to be careful near the water, ok?

Sarah: (Scoots off Orion’s lap and quickly runs to edge of the pond waving the blue duck toy being her favorite to try and get the ducks closer to her.  They move to the other edge of the pond making her start to get upset that they are moving away from her).

Shizen: (Leans towards Orion).  Did you bring some bread like I suggested?

Orion: (He laughs as he brings out a bag of bread).  Of course, I did.

Shizen: (Grins taking some of the bread).  This should help with ducks.  Don’t want her to cry thinking the ducks don’t like her. (She pats Orion’s back and then begins to get up and head over to the edge of the pond where Sarah is).

Orion: (He gets up as well with the bag and goes by Sarah).  Hey this may help in getting the ducks attention.

Shizen: (Laughs punching Orion’s arm lightly).  That’s why I asked, you didn’t think it was our snack did you?

Orion: Of course not, thought I would mess with you obviously.  (He laughs).

Shizen: (Messes up Orion’s hair with a fake pout).  Oh, come on.  (She laughs then sees Sarah still looking upset and teary eyed that the ducks swam away from her.  She kneels beside her with Orion on the other side to comfort her).  Now don’t cry little one, you just need to be more patient with living animals.  It’s not your fault.

Orion: (He taps Sarah’s back).  It’s fine, it’s fine no need to get upset but auntie Shizen and I have a way to get the duckys to come back.

Shizen: (Shows Sarah the bread to Sarah to take some).  See this bread here.  Don’t eat it, it has magic inside of it for the ducks.  (She smirks nodding to Orion making sure he gets an idea of where she’s going with this).

Sarah: (Looks at the piece of bread in her hand curiously).  Magic?

Orion: (he shakes his head as he brings out more bread in his hand).  Yes, they are filled with special treats that duck love that fills them with happiness.

Shizen: So, if you hold it out to the ducks, they will come closer and eat right out of your hand.  Just promise to be gentle with them.  (Only Orion notices a slight glow in Shizen’s eyes as she looks at the ducks).

Sarah: (Has an expression of wonder looking from the bread to the duck holding and waving it trying to get their attention).  Ducky mag-ic.

Orion: (He laughs a little).  No, no you hold it out in your hand, not wave it towards them.

Sarah: (Tilts her hand in confusion but holds out the bread though impatiently until she sees the ducks start making their way back to the side of the pond they are at.  She gasps excitedly hearing their quacks holding out the bread as far as she can).

Orion: (He taps her head).  Now, now just relax and be calm right now.  You don’t want to scare them away again.

Sarah: (Does her best to stay still but seems to struggle with it until she sees the duck family come closer.  She sees an adult female mallard duck with shades of brown feathers with a hint of blue on the wings.  She has 7 duckling swimming behind her all ranging from shades of brown and yellow making Sarah gasp again in awe of seeing them whispering in amazement).  Ducky….

Orion: (He smiles as he nods towards Shizen).  Alright now just hold out your hand for them and see what happens.

Shizen: (Nods back her eyes still glowing green as she focuses on the ducks).

Sarah: (Puts her hand out leaning as far as she can to reach the ducks the mother duck approaching the shore of the pond first but cautiously.  It quakes looking at all 3 backing up every few steps being hesitant.  The duck slowly waddles her way to Sarah inspecting her hand with the bread held out making sure it is safe.  Sarah’s look of wonder grows as she stays as still as possible whispering to the duck while offering the bread).  … Here ducky….

Orion: (He rubs her back).  It’ll be ok now, just relax and wait.

Sarah: (Still hold out the bread waiting for the duck to take some.  The duck finally starts to nibble on the bread making her start to smile brightly.  She feels the duck’s bill nibble at her hand lightly a bit giggling as the duck becomes less hesitant.  The duck bill is ticklish rather than hurting making her giggle more).  Tickles.

Orion: (He kisses her head as he watches the ducks and can see a very subtle smile start to form more and more).

Sarah: (Has a bright smile as the rest of the ducklings come over knowing it’s safe and start to nibble on the bread making her giggle more.  She starts to pet a few of them in wonder being completely focused on the duck with a sparkle in her eyes).  Soft…. So cute. 

Shizen: (Looking at Orion and Sarah and seeing the expression Orion has she smiles).

Orion: (He continues feeling proud to be a dad because of seeing his daughter smile so much making everything worth it).

Sarah: (Continues playing with the ducks petting the small duckling with a look of wonder).  Fluffy… So cute.

Shizen: (Smiles down at Sarah and the ducklings).  Yes, the small ones are baby ducks, they’re called ducklings.

Sarah: (Tilts her head up at Shizen then back at the ducks).  Ducklings?

Shizen: Yes, little children and baby ducks.  The big one is their mommy and the ones with the green head behind Orion is the daddy of the flock.

Sarah: Ducky family….  (She looks behind her at the ducks in amazement and the mallard behind Orion pecks his shoe and quakes at him to protect his flock.  The duck isn’t able to do much to him with not being able to peck hard because of his bill making her giggle).

Orion: (He smiles and laughs as he feels the mallard behind him and hands him some bread).  Now, now it’s ok.  We are just here to give some treats nothing else.

Sarah: (Looks back at the duck with a solid, metallic green head).  Pretty….

Shizen: (Looks at Sarah and the duck with a smile).  That’s the daddy duck, he looks over and protects his family.

Sarah: (Looks at the duck tossing some of her bread to it as well.  She then looks at Orion with a look of thought and points up to him with a big bright smile).  Daddy ducky!

Orion: (He smiles as he kisses Sarah’s forehead).  Well, if I’m going to be called that than your my little duckling.

Sarah: (Giggles and nods excitedly at being called a duckling).

Shizen: (Smiles at the nickname thinking how well it fits then back at the pond and the ducks who are in the water again.  She gives Orion a few moments to watch the ducks before she speaks up enjoying the ducks’ quacks).  It wouldn’t be a bad idea to move your workshop here.  It would give Sarah a good place to play when you take a break.

Orion: (He looks at Shizen in a moment’s pause as he rubs Sarah’s head).  You know what… You’re not wrong.  It would make things easier and if Sarah is there, she can have something to do if she gets bored from watching me do stuff.

Shizen: (Grins).  I can already tell it will be a favorite spot for her.

Sarah: (Still waves at the ducks in the pond).  Ducky every day!

Orion: (He smiles).  Yeah, every day you come with you’ll see the ducks anytime you want.

Shizen: (Sighs with a smile, sitting back a little to enjoy the view and talk to the ducks some more).

Sarah: (Has a bright smile instantly hugging Orion).  Best daddy duck!

Orion: (He smiles).  Yes… All for my little duckling… I love you Sarah….  (He hugs her tightly).

Everyday Sarah begs to go to the duck pond pulling Orion to get their faster so she can say hi to the ducks.  Orion does eventually move his workshop up near the duck pond to give Sarah a place to play taking a break to keep an eye on her playing, smiling every time.  She usually stays in the workshop as well watching him work and handing him tools as she grows a little wanting to help.  Things like this happen for many years Orion happy he can make his daughter smile constantly clinging to his side like a little duckling.  He calls her a duckling often the nickname seeming to stick as he asks for tools in his workshop that she hands him learning all about types of stones being curious about them all and how they shine so uniquely.  She looks about 6 or 7 around this time looking at all the stones on the ground having quite a collection by now in the workshop.  She has tried carving into some to make shapes but has struggled with practicing focusing and being determined having seen how great Orion his with his craft.  On this day she has a small cold but still is stubborn wanting to practice and go to the pond like always.  Orion sighs but lets her take an easy at least as she sits looking at her new stones.

Sarah: (Coughs a little but shakes it off rubbing her nose and looking at her stones holding a pretty purple one up to the light to see better).  Pretty….

Orion: (He comes out of the workshop wiping off his sweat seeing Sarah by the pond as always).  Hey duckling it’s about time to get ready for lunch with Shizen and Mizuko.

Sarah: (Turns her head to Orion with a bright smile still holding up her stones).  Ok daddy say bye to duckys-.  (Before she finishes that she says she lets out a sneeze).

Orion: (He sighs).  See I told you, you should have stayed home if you’re feeling sick.

Sarah: (Pouts looking at the ducks and stones).  But-.  (Before she can make her retort, she coughs again but twice in a row.  As she coughs Orion sees the stone in her hand glow an orange and brown tone from her energy).

Orion: (He smiles as he holds her as he taps her back).  Now Sarah it’s ok, I’m right here but look at your hand.  Your energy is starting to come in, I’m so proud of you!

Sarah: (Catches her breath looking at the stone in her hand her eyes widening).  It’s… Glowing?

Orion: (He shakes his head).  Yes, it means your energy is starting to awaken.

Sarah: (Has a look of wonder at the stone sneezing again making the stone glow more for a second.  She looks completely amazed but then has a big bright smile up at Orion with a giggle).

Orion: You are doing great though I am a bit worried about your fever so I’m taking you to bed when we get home ok?

Sarah: (She pouts but nods before remembering one more thing). Oh, I borrowed tools.  I want to be good at making things just like daddy.

Orion: (He laughs a little bit knowing she has been practicing in secret mostly).  Oh, I’m sure you will be because you are my daughter.  I look forward to what you will make for me to see.

Sarah: (Scrambles through the small tools she borrowed picking up a stone that look carved into.  It looks very simple and a little rough but Orion can tell it’s the shape of a duck with a wire clasp attached to a sturdy braided bracelet string).  I was working on this for you.  It took a few times…. But I hope you like it.  (She looks up at her dad cutely hoping he likes it).

Orion: (He can’t help but smile and getting a little teary eyed as he takes it).  Well Sarah… I love it, I’m so proud of you.

Sarah: (Her face brightens up).  You like it yay!  (She giggles and hugs Orion coughing a little into the hug).

Orion: (He hugs her tightly).  Well of course I’ll like it when you put so much effort into it.

Sarah: (Has the biggest smile she can have).  You promise to wear it every day then, right?

Orion: (He smiles).  Of course, I’ll wear it every day because you made it for me.

Sarah: (Continues to smile brightly happy Orion likes his gift).  I can show aunty Shizen and Mizu too when we get home too!

Orion: (He pats her head).  Well of course, maybe I’ll help make some for them.

Sarah: (Nods excitedly).  Alright let’s go then, I can’t wait. (She waves to the ducks in the middle of the pond).  Bye ducky’s, see you tomo-.  (Before she finishes what she says she starts coughing again but a little more than the other times looking a little more tired).

Orion: (He immediately changes his smile to a frown off worry as he kneels to Sarah in a second).  Sarah are you ok sweetie?

Sarah: (Looks up once done coughing looking a little flushed but still gives a reassuring smile holding her blue duck toy close not to forget it).  I’m ok daddy.

Orion: (He shakes her head as he faces away from Sarah showing his back to her).  I know you will be but come on, get on my back.

Sarah: (Smiles and climbs onto Orion’s back).  Ok yay… Piggyback ride.  (He can tell how tired she is by how loose her grip is and how out of it she seems).

Orion: (He sighs).  Ok let’s get going then, hang on tight as you can.

 

He carries his daughter back home to rest and tell Shizen and Mizuko his concerns knowing some kids get colds when their energy starts to show.  After carrying Sarah up to her room and putting her in bed with some medicine Shizen and Mizuko had given to him he heads back downstairs to tell them his worries.

Orion: And that’s everything, it’s like she has been sick before but now it feels like a clockwork sickness that keeps coming back.  I’m just unsure of what to do, I’m worried.

Shizen: (Both she and Mizuko look at each other than Orion seeing the greatly worried expression having their worries as well).  It could be because of her low energy that it is affecting her more.

Mizuko: (Shakes her head now thinking through everything calmly and seriously).  There’s a fever that keeps coming back with her energy as it develops.  I can give her more healing water but it’s getting less effective.  (She frowns as she tries to think of a better solution).

Shizen: Let’s do a full checkup to see if we missed anything and if not….  (She looks at Orion then quickly away before she says any other options that are more serious).

Orion: I know… I knew because of the low energy she will have some limitations… But I think the more she’s tries to use her energy… The more pain she endures.

Shizen: (Looks at Mizuko and both have a frown then nods stepping forward to Orion and Mizuko heading towards Sarah’s room.  Shizen places and hand on Orion’s shoulder with as calm a smile she can manage but also see the seriousness behind it).  Orion… Why don’t we take a walk to get some fresh air?  Sarah will be in good hands with Mizu here.

Orion: (He sounds reluctant as he sighs).  Ok… I’ll leave her in your care Mizu….

Mizuko: (She has a kind smile and nods before going into the room).

Shizen: (Swings her arms around Orion’s shoulder to encourage him to follow her).  Come on Orion, let’s take a walk around the wall side.  We can clear your head and talk.

Orion: (He nods but he keeps looking back towards Sarah’s room).  Ok… Let’s talk for a little bit.

Shizen: (Shizen walks Orion out of the house staying mostly quiet for a bit until they reach the wall walking on the outside of it.  She seems to be reluctant to say anything on the more serious side about Sarah.  It starts making Orion feel like she needs to speak up and tell him what she brought him out here for worry starting to eat away at him more).

Orion: (As he walks beside the wall with Shizen he gets tired of the silence).  Now Shizen, it isn’t like you to be so quiet.

Shizen: (Sighs with a small smile but looks down).  No… No, it isn’t… Your good at picking up things about Mizu and I like that.

Orion: Well, I have known you two forever so it’s understandable why I would be able to to so easily.

Shizen: I know your always been a great brother to us.  I guess that explains how you’re such a great father as well.  (She smiles looking over at some rocks large enough to sit on next to smaller grey smoothed out stones motioning to them).  Why don’t we take a seat?

Orion: (He sits down getting an idea what Shizen wants to talk about).  Sure, we can.

Shizen: (Sits on one of the stones next to Orion looking out onto the scenery a little then down noticing Orion’s duck pendant on a pink bracelet).  Sarah made that for you, didn’t she?  That’s quite talented for her age.  (She smiles down at it, but Orion can tell she is having trouble getting to the point of coming out here).

Orion: Yeah, she really is… She was quite excited showing it to me… I have heard her practice in her room most nights…. (He sighs as he smiles slightly).  But we both know what this conversation is about Shizen… I know.

Shizen: (Sighs shaking her head).  Yes… You’re right.  (She looks down again).  First of all, I know how you get with worry and sometimes panic about her.  I wanted someplace away and peaceful to ease yourself if only a little bit.

Orion: I know… I figured that it was going to be something like this but I mostly wanted to be away so I can say everything on mind without worrying her more.

Shizen: (Nods in agreement).  I know…. Mizu is doing her best with her magic.  I wish I could help her more than with just medical herbs, but my magic-based healing only works for animals.  Mizuko the second-best healer out there… She’s doing everything she can… She is our little niece after all.

Orion: I know you did everything you could… I’m not trying to blame you for anything because I know you love her just as much as I do, maybe even more at times.

Shizen: (Laughs lightly).  Oh, I wouldn’t say more.  You’re her father, plus I see how your grin grows with her.  She truly is a little pink loving duckling following behind you every moment with a cheerful bright smile.  She’s a daddy’s little girl for sure and I’ve heard your people call her the princess of earth.  (She grins more looking at Orion).

Orion: (He smiles and laughs at the comments).  Yeah, you’re right there, I heard one blacksmith gave her a little crown and she just loved it.

Shizen: (Smiles and sighs picking up a few stones on the ground tossing a few to Orion).  Glad to have at least one laugh… I also brought you out here… To say Mizu calling Shiro while we are out here….  (She sighs looking down at one of the stones knowing Shiro is only called to heal when it’s very serious not wanting to say that directly).

Orion: I see… I understand then… I didn’t want to depend on her since she is so busy… But I understand.

Shizen: I know you didn’t… But… Unfortunately, it is to the point Mizuko needed to make that call… If it gets worse….  (She quickly shakes her head from those thoughts clenching her fist a little in her lap for a second).  If anyone can help her, it’s Shiro….  (Brings her voice to a whisper talking more to herself).  It must be….

Orion: (He is silent for a moment as Shizen talks to herself).  I know….  (He hugs Shizen).  I think you need this as well right now Shizen.

Shizen: (Is surprised at the sudden hug then smiles hugging back).  You giant goofball… I should be the one comforting you not the other way around….

Orion: Well, the big brother still needs to take care of his little sister now don’t I.

Shizen: (Laughs a little).  You’ve always been good at that even with my wild nature… Thank you… Can’t continually think of the worst scenarios… Let’s just pick out a few rocks Sarah might like while we’re out here for her collection.  I think she will like that.

Orion: (He smiles as he stands up).  Yeah, I think she will, maybe more the lake nearby.

Shizen: (Stands with smile as well).  Well, you’re the grand master on rocks.  I’m sure you will find something for her.  (She laughs a little again as she looks around on the ground).

 

Orion begins to look going over to each rock near them and wonders which one will be a better one.  As he is searching for a stone to collect for Sarah one catches his eye a few moments into looking.  It doesn’t look like anything special being a rounded smooth light grey stone about a few inches in size, but it catches his interest.  For every stone he gets a feeling from his element but with this stone he doesn’t get a feeling at all.  He looks closely to the weird rock not sure what’s going on with it, and why he can’t get a sense of it).  Hmm I wonder about this one.  (He is inspecting the rock he feels something move or shake in it seeming fragile in-between his fingers.  He can’t seem to figure out what is up with this weird stone when suddenly a crack forms on its side.  As this is happening, he begins to panic a little bit as he runs over to Shizen hoping she’ll know more. 

Orion: Shizen, Shizen come look at this!

Shizen: (She looks over with eyebrows raised to what Orion’s freaking out about but goes quickly since it sounds urgent).  What is it, find a rare stone?

Orion: (He is seen still panicking).  I’m not sure at all, it just started moving and shaking.  I’m not sure!

Shizen: (Seems amused laughing at how much Orion is freaking out about a stone).  Alright calm down, just let me take a look.  (She looks over Orion’s shoulder at the stone in his hand.  She stops laughing looking at the stone pausing almost instantly looking at it, focusing a little more.  Orion sees a green glimmer in her eye for a second like his does brown with earth and a smirk form).

Orion: Well?  What’s going on?  (He says nervously).

Shizen: (Sighs but still smirks).  Relax you big goofball, just hold it gently and watch.  (She moves Orion’s head to look back at the rock with the crack in it seeing the crack slowly grow as if something is chipping and pushing at it from the inside).

Orion: (He looks in great interest not understanding fully yet cannot stop the feeling of excitement heavily.  He sees a tiny hole in it and something with a sandy coloration move around on the inside cracking the shell little by little.  The little hole gives him enough to see into the shell seeing two dark eyes and scales of some kind of reptile looking directly up at Orion from inside the shell).  It’s an egg?!?  How did that end up in my city usually down…?  Those eyes are so cute.

Shizen: (Bursts out in laughter).  No wonder you didn’t feel anything from it!  Yes, looks like this one was misplaced close to hatching.  (She still grins as she and Orion watches it slowly try breaking his shell to get out the hole getting bigger and bigger to see more of the creature.  It has light tan scales with rougher ones on its legs and a darker brown shell over the rest that can be seen realizing it is a tiny baby tortoise in-between Orion’s fingers).

Orion: (He holds his hand for the animal to cry out on as he climbs more out of the eggshell looking around making small noises).  Oh my god, it’s so cute.

Shizen: (Puts an arm around Orion’s shoulder with a big grin still seeing the tortoise look up at Orion with almost a smile as it makes its noises).  A tortoise huh?  Something about that suits you.  Plus, since you’re the first it sees I guess that makes you the mama tortoise then.  (She laughs again patting Orion’s back).

Orion: (He ignores Shizen’s comment on purpose).  Well, I don’t even know what to name the fellow but I’m still wondering how he got here.

Shizen: (Scans the area).  Hmm I’m not sure but usually eggs that are not in the barrows do not last long.  I’m surprised this one hatched.  (She takes a closer look inspecting the tortoise characteristics gently, eyebrows raising noticing something about it).  Very interesting little guy.

Orion: (He smiles as the turtle begins to move around, he makes small land masses to hold the tortoise for now as he and Shizen talk).  Hmm how so?

Shizen: (Still is inspecting the tortoise and looking into the distance).  This is the breed of tortoise that continues growing nonstop so far.  A few inches every century with a growth spurt here and there but I know you have seen the ancient one almost the size of a mountain in your territory.  This is the same breed.

Orion: (He has an expression of interest as he looks into the distance and see’s the tortoise of his nation walking around).  Hmm I wonder how that egg got here then.

Shizen: I’m not sure but the eggs that get separated usually are not able to make it long at all. (She looks down at the tortoise smiling on how it keeps looking up and reaching at Orion to climb).  What do you plan to do with this little guy?  He won’t make it out there in the wild so far from a nest plus it’s already looking at and following you as the daddy tortoise of the nest.

Orion: Oh, I do plan to keep him as a pet, it will be fun… But I want Sarah to name him first since it’s mostly for her as well.

Shizen: (Grins).  She will like this much more than any rock we would find then and I will send you notes on how to care for him.  I’m glad you gave that answer, you had a grand smile of excitement similar to how you are with Sarah… I’m sure this will cheer her up seeing your new animal companion. (She smiles more sincerely at Orion patting his back to head home).

Orion: Yeah… I just know that she will love him, and I just feel excited having an animal companion, don’t see many of those in earth territory so it’s a nice change.

Shizen: (Smiles more).  I’m glad both you and Mizuko accepted animals so readily into your land and I look forward to hearing all about your new companion here.  (She sighs happy she brought Orion out here for some fresh air boosting their mood even if only for a short time).

 

Shizen and Orion head back with the little tortoise in his hand.  When showing it to Sarah as she is in bed, she names it Rocky since Orion had thought the egg was a rock at first.  Rocky cheers things up but worry starts to sink in on Orion heavily as Sarah’s condition becomes worse coughing much more often with a rising fever.  Mizuko does what she can as they wait impatiently for Shiro to arrive and when she does Orion is the first to run to her with a begging and fearful expression seeing his daughter’s condition get worse every day by her side.

Shiro: (Makes her way to the house steps Orion rushing to meet her and fill her in as quickly as possible, Shizen and Mizuko being in Sarah’s room).  Orion…. I’m sorry if I took too long to get here.  Mizuko said it was urgent in her message.

Orion: (Shiro sees his expression as though his mind is going crazy).  No, I’m sorry to rush to you like this I know you were busy, thank you again though.

Shiro: (Sees the panic in Orion’s eyes giving a calm smile with a comforting hand glowing with light on his shoulder).  It’s alright just calm down, Nagi understood and is handling things while I’m gone with Kishi and Izumi.  My light was a little slowed since there is a third but I’m here now… From how urgent Mizuko sounded I knew it had to be serious.

Orion: (He shakes his head in understanding).  Regardless thank you so much and they’re in Sarah’s room….

Shiro: (Nods following Orion inside).  I will do whatever I can Orion.  I promise you that.

Orion: (He smiles).  Thank you Shiro… Thank you.

Shizen: (As Orion is letting Shiro in she is in Sarah’s room with Mizuko doing what they can to help Sarah who is very pale and weak, coughing from the high fever).

Mizuko: (Has her healing water around her hand glowing over Sarah’s forehead).  Shizen we will need to change the sheets and towels soon; we might want to let Orion know.

Shizen: (Sighs both being tired).  Alright he will be back in a little bit, I will tell him.

Sarah: (Opens her eyes weakly).  Da… Daddy-.  (She is cut off by coughs).

Mizuko: (Smiles as calmly as possible trying not to show her worry best she can).  Shh it aunty Mizu daddy will be back, just get some more rest.

Shizen: (Is not hiding her worry nearly as well as Mizuko a hand clenched behind her).  Everything will be alright…. Just rest some more.

Sarah: (In-between her coughs).  Can… We see… Ducky tomorrow….

Mizuko: (Looks at Shizen and how much she’s struggling to keep her emotions in check she trying to do the same but handling it in her own way).  Yes… But you must promise to get some rest alright?

Sarah: (Nods closing her eyes but still coughs a little while in a shivering sleep).

Shizen: (Continues to clench her fist only able to make herbs for her and do small things feeling helpless watching over Sarah like this).

Orion: (He opens the door and lets Shiro in as he sits by Sarah on the opposite side from the three clenching his fists).

Shizen: (Instantly looks at Shiro rushing over with a pleading look).  Shiro thank god you’re here.

Shiro: (Sees the same look of panic in Shizen’s eyes putting a glowing hand on Shizen’s shoulder like she had done with Orion).  Yes, I’m here, sorry to keep everyone waiting.

Mizuko: (Nods standing behind Shizen closer to Sarah’s bedside).  I’m glad you came quickly.

Shiro: (Smiles calmly at Mizuko).  It is no problem; besides it is not often you ask for my help Mizuko.  (She looks down at the bed where Sarah rests and slowly frowns seeing how pale and worn, she looks joining Mizuko to stand by her side.  She has a look of thought and focus stiffly going to her knees to be at Sarah’s level.  She places and hand on Sarah’s forehead that glows of light).  I see… Her fevers very high then.

Mizuko: (Nods looking down).  Yes, I have been doing my best to lower the fever and coughs but it only works temporarily now.

Shiro: I see….  (She has a look of deep focus as her hand goes over Sarah gently to examine her condition closely).

Shizen: (Is right behind Shiro and Mizuko fist still clenched as she watches).

Orion: (He holds Sarah hand as he hopes Shiro can help as best as she can he clings to what hope he can fathom as he can’t bring himself to speak up).

Shiro: (Continues her focus moving her hand every moment or so looking for causes of the fever.  Her hand goes over her chest but suddenly Sarah has another fit of coughing, Shiro quickly moving her hand to try and control the severe coughs).

Mizuko: (Quickly uses her water to help and props Sarah up so she does not choke more her concern showing even more).

Shizen: (Quickly looks for something to help finding a handkerchief.  She holds it up to Sarah’s mouth to cough into as Sarah’s hand is gripped onto Orion’s since he is holding it).

Orion: (His emotions are going all over the place as he starts to just give small amounts of energy to Sarah wanting to do something as he puts his head on her arm).

Shiro: (It takes a few moments for her to calm the coughing fully for now taking a breath then nodding to Mizuko to let Sarah lie down and rest again as she continues her focus).

Mizuko: (Places a damp washcloth on Sarah’s forehead doing her best to assist Shiro).

Shizen: (Nods taking away the handkerchief from Sarah’s mouth stepping away to not disturb her concentration.  She sits but is tense from the whole situation.  The feeling gets worse as her eyes widen now looking down at the handkerchief in her hand beginning to grip it even tighter pausing at it in shock while gritting her teeth to hold back).

Orion: (As Shiro and Mizuko calm things down best they can his head still down feeling something nudge very lightly at his head.  It turns out to be Rocky who is on the bed nudging Orion with his head.  He smiles as he pets Rocky).  Thanks buddy, I feel better knowing you are here too.

Shiro: (Looks at Orion with a small but sad smile for what he’s going through as a father).  Why don’t you take a step outside with your little friend there?  It will give Mizuko and I time to figure something’s out.

Orion: (He sighs as he doesn’t want to go anywhere and leave her side any more than he has too).  Ok… I’ll be in the room right across from here than….

Shiro: (Nods).  It is just to give us a little time to focus and stabilize things… And for you to try do the same.

Mizuko: (Smiles as reassuringly as possible).  It’s just to do the examination in private to focus better.

Shiro: (Looks back at Shizen as well still sitting looking down at the handkerchief in shock and almost horror).  Shizen… Why don’t you go with Orion…?

Shizen: (Does not budge for long moments looking frozen with a tight grip on the handkerchief and gritted teeth as she holds everything back).

Orion: (He gets up and pats on Shizen’s shoulder).  It’s ok Shizen let’s get going, I know what you’re feeling right now….

Shizen: (Does not say anything just stands to go ahead her face in shadows with teeth gritted and one hand clenched tightly onto the handkerchief still, glancing at Sarah before she goes).

Shiro: (Nods to Orion).  Thank you, Orion.

Orion: (He nods his head as he goes into the hallway with Shizen as he takes one last look towards Sarah and feels terrible that he can’t do anything at all).

Shizen: (Walk out into the hallway in front of Orion her back to him as she continues to clench her fists.  After she is far enough, she stops, shaking a little as the little control she had breaks, her teeth gritting more).

Orion: (He holds Shizen from behind to give her a hug because right now they both need it as they await Shiro and Mizuko).

Shizen: (Looks down more her fist tightening as she suddenly punches the wall to her side causing a large crack putting all her frustrations into the punch).

Orion: (He sighs as he rubs Shizen’s hand).  Now don’t take it out on the wall.  (He fixes the walls stone very quickly with a wipe of his hand).

Shizen: (Lets out a breath sighing but still has her fist clenched).  I know… Just….  (She looks down at the handkerchief unable to say much more her emotions getting the best of her more whenever she looks at).

Orion: I know… It’s even harder for me right now… I can’t deal with these feelings I’m having right now… Yet all I can do is watch… It kills me slowly knowing that….

Shizen: I….  (She takes a breath to try and calm herself for Orion at least).  I know… I wouldn’t wish this on anyone especially you… All I can do is comfort you and I’m doing a pretty shitty job since you end up comforting me… Mizuko was always better at that stuff anyways… But still… I’m sorry… You don’t deserve this kind of worry and fear… No parent should….  (She looks down more her back still turned to him, but he can see a tear fall to the ground).

Orion: well like I said before… a big brother must be there for his little sister… And I know I don’t but yet I saw it coming… Which is why I tried so hard to keep making memories with her… but now it’s hurting even more…. (He hangs on tighter to Shizen as she feels tears coming down her shoulder).

Shizen: (puts a hand on Orion’s head to try and comfort him at least a little) right now I need to be there for you though… it’s funny… longer were alive the more we treasure those memories that are made… but also the more it hurts… but at least their memories are something to cherish always. (Places a hand on the bracelet Sarah made around Orion’s wrist). Just don’t give up complete hope just yet….

Orion: (He holds tight and doesn’t let go). I know… I am keeping all the hope I can keep together.

Shizen: (gives a small smile back to try and comfort best she can for Orion).  I know… Even Rocky is trying to comfort you in his own way… For now… Let’s do what we can to help Sarah… I had a new batch of fresh herbs growing.  Mind helping me make it into a tea.  It will make both of us feel at least a little helpful right now… Besides waiting the whole time by the door for any news will drive us even more crazy with fears.

Orion: (He holds onto Shizen tighter as he shakes his head).  It hurts so much… Yeah let’s go do that, I’ll make Sarah some sweet tea.  It’s always her favorite.

Shizen: I know it hurts… But we stay strong for her… You’re the strongest person I know after all….  (She smiles as reassuring as possible turning a little to place a hand on Orion’s shoulder then hug back comfortingly before they head downstairs giving Orion all the time he needs in the hug).

Orion: (He hugs for a while then they decided to finally head downstairs to make tea.  They make good small conversation to try and avoid the current situation).

Shizen: (Does her best to cheer Orion up though feeling the same worry in fear in her mind as well.  She gives Orion some vegetables for Rocky as well to help keep Orion’s mind busy as she goes out to collect the herbs outside. As she is leaving the handkerchief that Sarah coughed into, and she held on tightly to this whole time falls by accident being why she broke her emotional control in the first place.  It falls by Orion’s shoe as he’s feeding Rocky some lettuce, a little blood on the handkerchief from where Sarah coughed now realizing why Shizen was hiding it the whole time she had been there with him).

Orion: (He stops in his tracks greatly as he picks the handkerchief up feeling his world come apart as he clenches onto it).  Shizen….

 

The day continues quietly, too quietly for Shizen and Orion as they wait for any word form Shiro or Mizuko.  Orion having been completely quiet since seeing the handkerchief looks down as he sits by the door in his own fearful thoughts about it. Shizen deals with the waiting and fears another way pacing back and forth continuously in thoughts that do not seeming to help at all wanting to punch the wall again from it.  As Orion is sitting Rocky continually nudges him being on his shoulder as time passes slowly for them.

Orion: Thanks buddy….  (He continues petting Rocky.  This continues for what feels like an eternity for them until finally they hear the sound of the door to Sarah’s room beginning to open).

Shizen: (Quickly turns from her pacing anxiously but at same time scared because of her instincts and fears).

Orion: (He immediately gets up as he looks toward the door hanging on tightly to Rocky and handkerchief from yesterday).

Mizuko: (Comes out of the room quietly closing the door behind her.  She is looking downwards the entire time not saying a word to them).

Shizen: (Rushes over to hear the news).  Mizu-….  (She pauses herself seeing Mizuko’s expression).

Mizuko: (Continues looking down with an expression of sorrow and fatigue both able to tell she used a lot of her energy.  She avoids both of them not seeming to feel like talking or giving any news at the moment.  She just quietly goes to sit without a word avoiding Orion’s eyes, very sad and tired looking).

Orion: (He gets off the floor as he stands by Mizuko and gives her a hug to see if it will help).  You have done everything you could Mizu.  It’s ok to sleep now.

Mizuko: (Looks down and away more from Orion not seeming to be able to face him at the moment or know what to say).

Orion: (He takes notice of how Mizuko is acting and sighs).  I understand… She’s dying isn’t she.

Mizuko: (Doesn’t answer verbally only clenching her shaking fists to what Orion said).

Shizen: (Is taken aback from what Orion says having to step backwards).  Orion… We don’t know that… We….  (She looks down being in denial but with fist clenched and teeth gritted not wanting to accept that).

Orion: (He lets go of Mizuko as he shows the handkerchief with the blood on it).  I have known for a while and when… I held her hand she felt cold… Not much energy….

Shizen: (Her eyes widen seeing the handkerchief realizing she must have dropped it not wanting him to see it).  Orion that’s… No… She can’t… She won’t….  (She tries to collect her emotions and not accept what’s going on taking it out on the wall again with more force than the last time).  Dammit!

Orion: (He looks down as he just thinks to himself wanting to do the same, but he knows he can’t right now).

Shizen: (Breaths heavily hurting her hand with the punch but not caring about it, gritting her teeth more.  The door to Sarah’s room opens again Shiro coming out this time to the tense and saddened hallway).

Shiro: (Looks down with more sorrow but still goes towards Orion).  I’m… Sorry you were kept waiting.

Orion: It’s fine… I didn’t want to bother you guys while you were working.

Shiro: (Nods with a small smile).  I know… And I’m sorry for this situation… Truth is Mizuko being ranked the second-best healer of all isn’t that far from my abilities… You should have more confidence in yourself.

Mizuko: (Simply just looks away clearly not feeling that way).

Shizen: (Steps forward her fists still clenched).  Shiro… Is there anything you can do though…? Please….

Shiro: (Pauses before answering looking down with a sigh shaking her head).  I’m afraid not much in this case… I’m sorry Orion… I at least stabilized her for now though….

Orion: (He is silent for a second).  Ok… And it’s ok you did… Everything you could… Do….  (Tears start to roll down his face as his emotions are finally overflowing).

Shiro: (Goes over to give Orion a hug but knowing it won’t make the pain go away).  I’m sorry Orion… It seems to me a genetic problem with not being able to handle energy easily… Those are the hardest to deal with… I’m so sorry.

Shizen: (Comes over to Orion slowly her body shaking from her emotions as well).  You… Don’t deserve this… Dammit….  (She puts her head into Orion’s shoulder, losing control of her own emotions as well).

Orion: (He hangs onto Shiro tightly as he can while still being gentle with her, all he does is cry but cannot speak as he understands what Shiro is saying).

Shiro: (Tears up hating giving news like this).  I know it must be hard… But Sarah has been calling for you.  I think you should spend however much time you can with her now.

Orion: (He wipes off his tears as he lets go of Shiro, heading towards Sarah’s room).  Thank you everyone… Don’t blame yourselves like I know you will… Got to send her off with a smile… That’s what Sarah always did anyway.

Mizuko: (Before Orion goes in, he is stopped by a tug of his shirt by her she still looks down unable to look him in the eye).  …. I’m….  (She is unable to say anything else her grip loosening, blaming herself heavily even with what Orion had said).

Orion: (He turns around and he smiles towards Mizuko, kisses her head).  It’s ok Mizu… I’ll still love you and so will Sarah.  Stop blaming yourself.

Mizuko: (Nods but still can’t look at Orion directly sitting back down pulling Sarah’s blue duck toy from her sleeve looking down at it in her hands).

Orion: (He goes into Sarah’s room, and he sees her sitting up looking through her window).  Well little ducking how are you, and you should be laying down.

Sarah: (Still looks a bit weak, and pale but gives Orion a bright smile as always noticing something with light energy on her chest).  Hi daddy.

Orion: (He pauses for second looking at Sarah with the device on her chest but then he smiles and goes by Sarah and kisses her head).  How are you duckling?  What is that device on your chest right now?

Sarah: Shiro said it was to make me feel better.  She also told me about Kishi and Izumi and another one.  I hope they get to visit again.

Orion: (He rubs her head and sits down).  Oh, I’m sure they will visit soon.

Sarah: (Smiles and looks out the window).  I wanted to see the duckies today too.  I promised them I would.

Orion: I know duckling, I’m sorry about that.  I’m sure you will see them soon.

Sarah: (Looks down with an upset expression).  But… I need to see them….

Orion: But….  (He sighs).  What am I going to do with you?

Sarah: I need to… Just one more time, ok?  (She smiles at Orion knowing it’s like a last request for her).

Orion: (He sighs as he pats her head and creates a wall behind him to block the door).  We better get going quickly then.

Sarah: (Her bright smile grows).  Really?  Thank you, daddy, you’re the best!

Orion (He picks up Sarah moving the light gadget off her and raises a platform up to her window for them to go on).  We’ll let us escape now shall we my sweet duckling princess?

Sarah: (Nods coughing a little once the device is removed).  Ok thank you.  (She smiles as she rests against Orion enjoying the view of the city).  It’s such a pretty day out too.

Orion: Well, the city just wanted to smile along with you. (They board the platform of earth as they move towards the pond as Orion holds his daughter as tight as he can).

Sarah: I hope so, I hope the duckies are happy too.  (She looks towards the duck pond continuing to smile tiredly putting Rocky in her lap to hold onto giggling and petting him).  I could stay there forever.

Orion: Don’t worry duckling… I’m sure the ducks will be glad to see you… But rest your eyes for now.  I’ll wake you up when we get there….

Sarah: (Nods closing her eyes to rest snuggling up to Orion while holding onto Rocky close like she always had done with her toy duck).

Orion: (As they get closer and closer to the pond, he can feel Sarah weaken more as time goes on.  He knows he doesn’t have much more time with her, but he will make it worth it anyway he can right now… He must send her off with a smile).

Sarah: (Continues to rest peacefully in Orion’s arms as he travels a smile on her pale face).

Orion: (They arrive at the pond and Orion sits on the bench with Rocky and Sarah on his lap.  They are directly across from the pond).  Sarah we are here now honey… Wake up… Wake up.

Sarah: (Opens her eyes weakly seeing the duck pond getting a big smile again).  They’re so pretty… And cute… Hi duckies.

Orion: (He notices the family of ducks they normally see are coming towards them as if they know).  Yeah see, their coming to say hi… They missed you a lot.

Sarah: (Reaches out to them as they quack up at her).  Hi ducky’s… I missed you too….

Orion: (He looks down and has tears running down to Sarah’s cheek as the pain is still getting to him heavily).  My little duckling… I’m sorry… I’m so sorry.

Sarah: (Looks up at Orion with a comforting smile even though she is starting to fade).  It’s ok… Thank you for taking me here… Your… The best daddy….

Orion: (He can’t help but smile as he holds her head against his as the tears continue falling).  Sarah… Please not yet… Not yet… I need to tell you the story of your mother… I have too… So just a little more time… And you were the greatest thing to ever happen in my life… I couldn’t replace you no matter what I do.

Sarah: … I’m sleepy… I bet she was really pretty and nice… And it’s ok daddy… I just want you to smile… Please… Don’t cry.  (She smiles up at Orion to try and comfort him).

Orion: (He wipes his tears away as he kisses her forehead knowing their time together is about to end).  Ok… You always liked me better when I’m smiling just like your mom… She was beautiful just like you honey… And don’t worry you’ll be here with the ducks, and you’ll see your mom soon.  Tell her for me in your dreams I love her… I love you Sarah… I love you so much….

Sarah: It’s ok daddy… I’ll see you again… I know it… Then I will watch the ducky’s here with you forever… Mommy too… Sleepy.  (Her eyes begin to droop more as her physical presence fades).  … Goodnight… I love… You… Daddy….  (With those words fading Orion feels her presence start to leave his lap as her eyes shut doing a final breath out but a small smile on her fading face).

Orion: (He reaches out for Sarah as he body fades into spirit orbs into the sky).  No, no….  (Suddenly a vibration through the city happens that is very hectic for all who live there for a few moments.  Rocky climbs onto Orion nudging his hand with his head).  I know Rocky… I shouldn’t be crying now… She wanted to have a smile… So, I will do just that for her… It’s the least I can do for the second girl I have ever loved from the bottom of my heart….

 

In the present Orion sits in the same spot he sat when he lost Sarah.  The stone gravestone is in front of him saying Sarah, my little duckling, looking at it sadly going through the last memory.  He is lost in thought but suddenly he feels something nudge his leg standing by his feet using his front legs to be boosted up towards Orion more.  Of course, the nudge with Rocky’s head is more noticeable being bigger but still as gentle and comforting as always.

Orion: (He laughs a little to himself as he rubs Rocky’s head).  Funny thing is I always end up coming to this same spot and you’ll always there with me… Then I have Spike too to help with my feelings.  (As he says that Spike rests his head on Orion’s lap putting his paw on him too in his own way of comfort.  He smiles as he pets both of his companions).  If it wasn’t for you two right here… I’m sure I wouldn’t be sitting here now… But I’m not as lonely anymore… Because of everyone.

??????: (As Orion talks to his companions, he hears a familiar females kind voice behind him).  I’m glad to hear that.

Orion: Yeah… It just took a while… Sorry to worry you, Mizu.

Mizuko: (She nods coming over to sit beside Orion).  It’s alright, I understand.  Shizen told me what happened.  (She pats both Spike and Rocky on the head with a smile then looks at the gravestone and sighs).  It’s been a long time since then….

Orion: (He gets a small smile though still sad as he continues petting).  Yeah, it has been… And of course, she told you everything, always the bearer of news spreading.

Mizuko: Of course, she would tell me, though she is not telling the younger ones with you fully.  (She looks back at the group still at the workshop specifically Kairi).  I also don’t blame you for making that mistake with that girl with you.  Their very similar so I thought the same as well at first.  Both are very bright and pink, even a love for a kind of animal though the type is different.

Orion: Yeah… After talking with her it seemed… Strange because it seemed like I was talking to Sarah again.  They are just so similar… Yet it wasn’t… My feelings just got the better of me.

Mizuko: (Nods in agreement).  I understand… She even speaks very highly of you while chatting with her.  Maybe it’s like a second chance… No, it’s not Sarah, but maybe something similar that connection at least.  You are very caring towards the people you love after all.

Orion: (He looks down).  Yeah… It seems like that… Regardless they are not the same person but I’m glad I could take the chance to know her.

Mizuko: True… But I’m glad you found more people to help you grin again.  (She looks down).  When those things happened, I did blame myself even though you told me not to… I kept thinking I could’ve done more or… I’m not sure… But one thing I struggled to say during that I could not….  (She looks up at Orion sincerely). I’m so sorry Orion.

Orion: (He gets up as he hugs Mizu).  I know you did… Trust me… I felt the same way as well… It was killing me slowly I couldn’t do anything at all… All I did was rely on you and everyone else… But now I won’t let that happen again.

Mizuko: (Returns the hug).  I know you won’t, you’re the strongest person I know after all.  We just do the best we can so that mistakes and sorrows don’t have to be experienced again.  I know I should take my own advice when it comes to self-blame but it’s not your fault Orion.

Orion: Well, I only try to be the stronger one when I have such silly sisters to take care of and help wipe their tears when they do so mine.

Mizuko: (Laughs).  I suppose you’re right, especially with how wild our little sister can be.  Just don’t hold it all on your shoulders no matter how strong you are.

Orion: Oh, I know… Even if I tired you two would slap me on the back of my head.

Mizuko: Oh, that’s more Shizen’s way of handling things.  Mine is more coming with you here.  (She looks down at Orion’s wrist at the duck pendant Sarah made).  I will say lastly though that I’m happy you kept your promise to her to wear that every day.  Somehow having something to remember them by and look at makes it feel better.  Like a small part of them is with you.  (As she pulls out from her kimono sleeve a blue duck toy with a pink bill that is a little worn but well taken care of).

Orion: (He covers the present from daughter with his hand as thinks back on the promise very slightly).  Well, I see I’m not the only one that hung onto her gifts.

Mizuko: (She shakes her head looking down at the toy duck).  No, I can’t seem to leave it either, so I suppose we have that in common.  It’s almost like it feels we are taking her along with us.

Orion: (He smiles as he laughs a little bit though still with a sadness).  Yeah, it feels like it… But I’m happy if she can experience this journey with me and everyone else….

Mizuko: You are right and I’m sure she’s smiling and happy for you.  I’ve heard from Shizen you’ve grinned more like you used too.  I’m glad you found more people to grin for.  (She laughs as Rocky, and Spike nuzzle up to Orion).  Oh yes and animals.

Orion: (He laughs as he pets the two).  Yes, though I didn’t know she was keeping track of my grinning to be honest, quite creepy, just a little bit.

Mizuko: As your sisters we’ll always worry about your wellbeing.  However, I think it’s time to head back to them if that is alright.  I can tell they care about you very much and Kairi seemed worried she had done something wrong to upset you.

Orion: (He nods as he gets up making sure Rocky and Spike are properly back up).  Yeah… I should properly explain what happened to her… I know how hard she can blame herself.

Mizuko: (She nods standing as well with a smile).  I am sure she will be fine as long as you are fine now.  I do want to meet this Rowen fellow our little sister continues grinning over though.

Orion: (He grins hearing about Rowen).  Oh yes, he’s a pretty good he’s the guy I’m connected to and he’s decent guy for her.

Mizuko: (Her expression changes to one of interest).  So that’s the one Nagi and Shiro created a permanent contract for you… Interesting… Shizen seems very happy with him as well.  (She smiles and nods to everyone as they are walking over to know it’s alright now).

Orion: Yeah… He’s an interesting fellow… But I’m happy he makes Shizen happy at least.

Mizuko: I can tell you are great friends with him as well.  (She smiles more while walking to join with the group).

Shizen: (Walks forwards first with a smile back at them).  I hope you feel better now at least.  Mizuko seems to have cheered things up.  (She pats Orion’s shoulder her concern showing in her eyes).

Orion: (He smiles as he taps her head).  Now don’t go worrying about me too much, I’m the big brother here.

Shizen: (A grin forms punching Orion’s arm lightly).  Oh, don’t be like that.

Jennifer: (Looks at Orion relieved he is doing better).  Does that mean we’re ready to head to the boat Mis. Mizuko?

Mizuko: (Nods).  Yes, though it’s not a normal boat I suppose.

Kairi: (Nods behind Jennifer being more quiet than usual, looking downward when looking at Orion like she had done something wrong).

Orion: (He scratches his head in nervousness not knowing on how to talk to her).

Rowen: (He sighs as he heads towards Orion).  Well shall we be off then?

Chazz: (He looks around unsure of what to do fully so he just looks around as he sees Hiki who has a sense of worry on her face).

Shizen: (Nudges Orion, Mizuko doing the same to his other said saying quietly to him).  Come on Orion, we can’t leave her blaming herself like this.

Kairi: (Steps toward Orion but still looking downward).  I’m sorry I upset you… Next time I will try better not to be in the way if I was… I’m sorry.

Jennifer: (Has a concerned look with Kura as she has a hand on Kairi’s shoulder knowing she must be tearing up wanting to tell her again she did nothing wrong).

Orion: (He pats Kairi’s head softly as he walks in front of her and kneels).  No, you did nothing wrong… All you wanted to do was help out, don’t feel sorry about that… It’s just you looked like my….  (He struggles for a second to finish what he is about to say).  … Daughter who passed away.

Hiki: Her name was Sarah… And this where she is buried….  (She tears up a little bit).

Rowen: (He keeps to himself as he wants Orion to have the courage to move forward just one last time on his own).

Kairi: (Looks down as she thinks of everything that happened).  … That is why you called me Sarah inside… I didn’t know… I’m sorry… Is that why looked sad sometimes when I was little, like when we painted rocks… Or talked about bunny’s… Did she like duckies like that… It must have really hurt… I am sorry….  (Orion and the others see a few tears fall).

Orion: (He pauses for a second as he hears in the back of his mind “You look better when you smile so keep smiling daddy”… He hugs Kairi in the moment and pulls her close as his hand is across her hair).  No… It wasn’t like that… You didn’t know and don’t feel bad… Because right now it feels like I see her again but then I see you instead Kairi… Don’t be sorry… I’m sorry for putting you through this… I’m sorry Kairi….

Kairi: (Hugs back as she wipes her eyes).  It is alright… I just wanted to understand… And I’m glad I can remind you of her then… She must have really been amazing too.  Besides ducky’s are just as cute as bunnies so I don’t blame her for loving them so much.  (She sniffles a little still wiping her eyes but smiles at Orion).

Orion: Well don’t focus on reminding me of her because you are your own person Kairi… You’re just as wonderful as she was and yes, she loved ducks.  I never understood why fully but I was happy.

Kairi: (She nods her smile coming back slightly).  I understand… I am glad though, and I bet she really loved you too… I never really saw my real dad much… Maybe a few times but I always felt ignored… But the times a saw you when I was little giving me an idea of what it is really like… Thank you for that.

Jennifer: (Wipes her eyes remembering seeing how much Kairi wanted that fatherly role model filled remembering having the same feeling as well when ignored by their father).

Rowen: (He grits his teeth understanding the frustration with the two girls with their father, not understanding or how he can do that to his own two daughters).

Chazz: (He puts his hand on Jennifer’s shoulder so he can pull her close as Hiki does the same since she understands the feeling quite well as Tori just looks down).

Orion: (He is silent as he just kisses her forehead).  Well, I’m experienced in being a dad… So, I’ll be happy to fill that hole in your heart of yours as you have done so for me.

Kairi: (Sniffles a little but looks up at Orion her bright smile returning).  I am happy too then.

Kura: (Smiles seeing Kairi’s smile return to her, sighing in relief).

Shizen: (Grins standing beside Mizuko who smiles as well patting Orion on the back, both being happy he could move more on from his grief and mourning).

Orion: (He gets up from the ground holding Kairi’s hand as he wipes his eyes facing away in front the group).  Well shall we get going now… We have an idiot to save.

Tori: (He laughs as he smirks).  Yeah, he is but he’s our idiot.

Kura: (Laughs a little while looking down but smiles).  He’s probably driving his uncles and aunt crazy the whole time.  I look forward to seeing them again, besides I know they will keep them safe.

Shizen: Yami is well guarded, I even sent someone myself to help the situation, so he is in good hands.

Mizuko: I’m sure the court will be in your favor mostly.  He is a small child after all so at least having him supervised and trained more should be enough to please most there.  (She smiles kindly, seeming positive).  Let’s get going, the trial is tomorrow after all.  I look forward to talking to getting to know all of you after all if you are traveling on my ocean with me.  (She starts to walk ahead with Orion the others following behind).

Jennifer: (Lags behind seeming to look down in thought still of what just happened with Kairi and Orion).

Shizen: (Notices to look Jennifer has as she walks with Rowen slowing down to walk closer to Jennifer catching Rowen’s attention as well as a few others).  Now what’s wrong child?

Jennifer: (Smiles slightly).  Oh, just thinking just now about the things with having that fatherly role model.  I’m glad Kairi has something like that.  (She smiles at Kairi who skips along beside Orion).  I remember feeling ignored as well, especially after Kairi was born… So, I guess I was thinking back to that as well.

Rowen: (He comes from behind Jennifer overhearing Jennifer).  It is very unfortunate that the head of the family puts everything behind him even his own family however… I did what I could so that you two wouldn’t feel as lonely which Is why I found Chazz because it gave the chance for you talk to someone your age and help with those bad feelings.

Jennifer: (Nods but still looks down).  I understand and I’m thankful for that.  I was then looking back… At when you were teaching me archery and looking for me in the forest so many times… That at some point… Perhaps I looked up at you the same way Kairi is looking up to Orion.  (She looks up and in back to Rowen with a smile).

Rowen: (He smiles as he pats her head).  I have known you felt that of admiring of me… But regardless I cannot thank you enough for allowing me the chance to fill that role as Orion has done for Kairi.  I will continue doing my best to do so.

Jennifer: (Her smile grows).  I am glad and thank you for helping with that roll… I know moms thankful to you too… You and Shizen helped me grow quite a lot….  (She hugs Rowen and adds Shizen to the hug as well laughing a little at Echo’s bark being held in one of his arms).

Shizen: (Grins putting one arm around Rowen and the other around Jennifer).  I’ll always be proud of you as well child… I always have been.  You’ve grown so much in such a short amount of time, all of you have.

Rowen: (He smiles as well as he thinks on how much Jennifer has matured during her time with Chazz).  Yes, you really have grown a lot… And it was all because Chazz found you….

Jennifer: (Smiles looking at Chazz) and because the people with us as well… We have helped each other grow.

 

They continue to walk down the city streets, looking around one last time at the market and blacksmith shops.  They talk lightly until they reach the farm area right outside the city walls but on the other side of the city seeing water a little to the side of a harbor.  Some of the people in the group turn to look at the large stone city as they walk.  Kairi and Hiki both give the city a big wave shouting bye to it as they go through the farm area, Hiki having a chicken fly in her face making Owlet screech slightly and flap its wings at the sudden chicken.

Kura: (She and Jennifer both bursts out in laughter at the chicken as it runs to cross to meet the others).  That’s certainly a way for the city to say farewell.

Jennifer: (Laughs just as much seeing a feather left in Hiki’s hair).  I always loved how funny chickens can be.  Almost got a few too if it weren’t for the wolf pack.

Hiki: (She pets down Owlet to calm him down as he rubs her ear).  Well, I’m not sure if I think so anymore though they still are very cute though right master?  (She takes the chance to cling to his arm lovingly).

Chazz: (He blushes a little bit as he smiles).  Yeah, I guess you are right, though all of the animals here are cute as well.

Jennifer: (Smiles standing on Chazz’s other side).  They are cute, it is amazing seeing so many animals I have never known existed as well.  It is also nice knowing there are similar animals like chickens her.  Maybe I will get one when we go back home.  They have always made me laugh with how silly they act.

Kura: (Takes out the feather from Hiki’s hair).  Hopefully one that doesn’t jump into people preferably.

Kairi: (Giggles skipping along with them).  And maybe a bunny as well!

Tori: Well, it wouldn’t be right if we didn’t have at least one bunny now.  (He smirks as the group enjoys themselves).

Kairi: (Her eyes sparkle looking at Tori).  Really?  Can we get one with floppy ears!

Jennifer: (Laughs).  As long an Owlet and Silver agree to not hunt it.  (Silver does not seem to pay attention while picking at her wing then chirping at Tori innocently).

Chazz: I am sure those two are always fine with it as long as they are near Hiki and Tori so I think everything will be fine in the end.

Hiki: (Smiles as Owlet rubs his head on hers as sigh of affection).

Kura: I suppose so, but I do have a question about where the boat is we are heading too.

Mizuko: (She smiles back at everyone).  It is more on the side of the harbor where there’s a more level shore though it’s not exactly a boat really.

Shizen: (Raises her eyebrows but then remembers back smirking a little knowing what Mizuko is talking about).

Orion: (He laughs knowing what she is talking about instantly).  Oh, this is going to be fun now, always wanted to try this.

Shizen: (Laughs as well).  One day Rocky will be big enough for that as well.

Kairi: (Looks up at them completely confused).  It is not a boat?

Mizuko: No but I think you should see rather then I explain.  I tend to have a few friends that always follow me around.

Kairi: (Still is just as confused by everyone else then looks a Spike and Rocky pouting a little at a thought).  Do they have to be left here then?  They look like they still want to follow you.

Orion: Hmm.  (He thinks to himself).  I will have to decide when we get there since I’m unsure really.  I don’t want to place them in danger.

Shizen: (She frowns in thought looking at the animals with them).  I could say the same thing for Silver, Owlet and Echo as well but they like every companion always want to stand by the one they’re loyal to.

Jennifer: (Nods in agreement thinking the same thing).  Worry just as much as the people here as about the animals really.  (She pats Kairi’s head).

Shizen: Yes, it would be like asking someone here to go back for their safety but I have to admit animals can be just as stubborn as humans and spirits really.  It’s just nature element hears the protest more clearly.  (Rocky nudges Orion and Spike makes a small whimper both looking up at Orion.  At the same Silver and Owlet nuzzle up to Hiki and Tori as they sit on both of their shoulders and Echo just wags her wail in Rowen’s arms climbing up to lick his face being too attached to just be left behind).

Orion: (He sighs).  Fine but if anything is dangerous, I want you all to keep safe, ok?

Jennifer: (Nods looking down a little understanding).  I understand, an animal getting hurt is just as heart breaking as a person really….

Shizen: (Sighs as well patting Jennifer’s head).  There was a time I refused for animals or my people to rush into danger, but I’ve learned they are just as stubborn as I am and will rush in anyways with no regret.  It was a hard lesson but I it took a while to accept it.  All I ask is to stay close to Orion, Rowen, Mizuko or I to stay safe.

Mizuko: (Nods and smiles compassionately).  Council members know that lesson well, but we still try to shelter them from harm.

Shizen: (Smiles at Mizuko).  You’ll learn Mizuko is the kindest and most compassionate of us leaders.  She will go out of her way to protect people even if not on her side.

Mizuko: (Smiles but gains a faint blush).  I suppose I am known for that.

Orion: (He smiles as he puts his arm around her).  And you are known for some other things too but mostly how compassionate you can be.

Chazz: Well, you do seem to have that aura or feeling around you Mizuko of a kind spirit in literal terms.

Mizuko: (Still blushes and smiles politely).  I try to keep peace at least.

Shizen: (Grins putting an arm around her as well).  She’ll also believe anyone can be redeemed and change for the better in any scenario really.

Kura: (Smiles learning about the water council member but then pauses seeing they are approaching the ocean shore not seeing anything boat related, only a small dock away from the main harbor).  Are we at the right place?  I don’t see anything boat like in this area.

Orion: (He laughs).  Well just wait a bit.  I’m sure it’s on its way or just waiting for Mizu.  (Rocky seems to be getting excited as does Spike knowing who is coming).

Hiki: (She looks around as well as does everyone else mostly lost on what is currently happening).

Mizuko: I told her and the others to come up once I came back with friends.  It should be any second now.

Shizen: (Grins her eyes glowing green as she looks out).  She’s grown from last I remember, oh a few more as well.

Jennifer: What do you mean, I do not-.  (She stops herself getting the same slight glow in her eyes as her eyes go wide and the other’s start to see a very large shadow rise in the water beneath the surface still).

Tori: (He immediately goes on guard because of the giant shadow as Orion grins).

 

The shadow looks a little more than 50 feet long when it starts to surface.  They realize it is a giant sea turtle with an olive green, large, streamlined, oval shell.  Its head and flippers are a greenish brown with dark brown scale spots.  The sea turtle also has large dark eyes that looks down at them and specifically Mizuko being a very peaceful, breathtaking with its beautiful green and brown shell colors.

Mizuko: (Smiles walking closer to the turtle, its head very large as it lowers to be pat on the nose).  Hello Sally, you’re a very good girl waiting with everyone.

Shizen: (Grins looking up at the giant sea turtle and the wide-eyed speechless expressions).

Rowen: (He is impressed as he just observes the majestic sea turtle).

Chazz: Wow… All I can say is wow….  (He is breathe taken just as Hiki and Tori areas well).

Orion: (He laughs a bit as he just sees Rocky get excited).  Yup there she is!

Kairi: (Is in just as much awe as Kura and the others with a look of wonder).  A sea turtle… She is so beautiful.

Jennifer: (Nods trying to figure out what to say).  … I have never seen anything like her….

Shizen: (Grins putting a arm around Rowen).  She is quite a beauty alright.

Mizuko: (Smiles back at everyone as she pets the sea turtles’ nose).  Don’t worry, Sally’s quite a calm peaceful creature.  It’s alright to say hello.

Orion: (He see’s Rocky become more excited and gets closer to Sally).  And we are not the only type of people excited to see her.

Jennifer: (Looks at Rocky and Sally covering a laugh, Mizuko doing the same.  Sally looks down at Rocky almost touching noses even though there still is a great difference in size as they say hello).

Shizen: (Pats Orion’s back as she laughs with a grin).  Looks like someone has a little crush.  I’m starting to think it was a different reason Rocky wanted to come.

Kairi: (Giggles looking at Rocky and Sally).  So cute.

Rowen: (He laughs a little bit as he sees the two).  I suppose he just enjoys seeing her aura of peace and kindness.

Shizen: Nice to have a companion to suit Mizuko so well.

Mizuko: They just tend to follow me wherever I go really.

Kairi: (Looks up on top of Sally’s shell seeing something built on top of it becoming excited).  Wait does that mean she is going to be our boat?

Mizuko: (Nods yes).  If you don’t mind, she’s actually quite used to giving people rides.

Orion: (He laughs).  Yeah, Mis. Sally here is one of the key guides across the water territory if people want a unique experience which even, I enjoy most times.

Hiki: (She smiles hugely).  She’s so cute!

Kairi: (Is right beside Hiki with just as big a smile).

Mizuko: I usually can travel just fine on my own, but it seems they just seem to want to follow me everywhere I go.

Shizen: (Smirks looking around the shoreline around the giant turtle).  I can see that, looks like they are just as attracted to your compassion as many others.

Jennifer: (Pauses being stumped on a word).  They?  (Feels more of a presence at the shore just like Shizen.  A few seconds pass afterwards, and they can hear a sound at the peer near them similar to being barked at oddly, Spike and Echo perking up instantly).

Kairi: (Perks up even more excitedly).  Dogs too!

Mizuko: (Laughs a little).  Something like that….

Tori: No, no I don’t think it’s dogs….  (He sees in the distance what the animals are).

Chazz: You could say they are more used to water than normal dogs.

Orion: (He grins as he pets Spike).  Oh yeah, Spikes favorite animals to play with.

Shizen: (Moves towards the peer to go closer to the water).  You really brought in a welcome party, huh Mizuko?

Mizuko: Well, I told them to stay put many time but it never works so I just let them tag along at this point.

Kairi: (Runs with Hiki to the peer).  Are those sea lions!

Kura: (Walks with the others to catch up).  Be careful, don’t fall in!

Orion: (He can’t help but laugh as he sees the animals).  Well as always, they are a very interesting bunch around.

Kairi: So cute!  (She giggles as she runs to the end of the peer with Hiki Owlet tucking itself into her bag again from all the moving around. 

 

There is an 8 foot long sea lion barking loudly at them as it waddles towards them on the dock.  The sea lion is chocolate brown skin with large wing like fore flippers and long whiskers on its cheeks.  Next to the sea lion is a much smaller fur seal being only 4 feet long with light grey thin fur.  It has front flippers that are more short, furry, and stubby in appearance making it lay forward more and scoot forward on land behind the sea lion.   The sea lion has a much louder bark as it does more of a waddle as well able to support itself with its front flipper more.

Hiki: (She cannot help herself but bring herself closer to the sea lion and seal, falling in love slightly.   The small seal seems much shyer than its larger loud one staying a little more behind him).

Mizuko: (Laughs pointing to the larger sea lion first then the smaller seal).  That one is Ski, and the other is Scoot.  Careful with Ski, he’s very playful and smart and Scoot, he’s a bit quieter.

Kairi: (Kneels down to Scoots level with a big smile putting her hand out).  It is alright sea doggy; I just want to be your friend.  (She giggles as the Scoot sniffs her hand and Ski bars and sniffs Hiki’s face with wet whiskers tickling as he kisses her cheek).

Hiki: (She cannot help but laugh as she pets the sea lion’s head as the whiskers continuing to tickle her).

Jennifer: (Laughs as she goes over to greet Ski and Scoot).  Well, he’s quite a goofball then.  He seems to like you as well Hiki.

Kairi: (Giggles more seeming to gain scoots trust more as his whiskers tickle her hand). Their names are the best too!

Tori: (He smiles seeing the two become so happy from just meeting the sea lion and seal).  I’m sure their happy to meet you guys as well.

Kura: It look like the big one especially.  (She smiles as well as Spike goes to sniff them with tail wagging but being much calmer).

Shizen: (Grins more watching the animals also looking into the water with a smirk). 

 

Everyone else is paying attention to the sea lion and seal as Rowen suddenly has a tusk of some sort go over his shoulder getting an intimidating feeling looming over him being about 12 feet long.  Echo tucks herself in Rowen’s arm more and sniffs the tusk with her ears back.

Rowen: (He looks up in curiosity).  Well, hello their now.

Chazz: (He laughs a little bit to himself).  Now it is becoming a party quite slowly.

Shizen: (Burst out in laughter at the brown walrus being much bigger and chubbier then the other too with wrinkled rougher skin as well as long tusks and whiskers).  Hiki’s not the only one with a new friend now.

Mizuko: (Smiles looking back at walrus hanging over Rowen’s shoulder).  Don’t worry, Waliver may seem scary, but he really is just a giant baby.

Shizen: (Raises her eyebrow amusedly at the name).  Waliver?

Rowen: (Waliver just puts its head on his shoulder Rowen being trapped a little by one of the tusks.  He is unsure of what’s fully going on right now but laughs a little nervously).

Jennifer: (Laughs looking back Rowen and Waliver).  You both have mustaches, that is why he likes you.

Shizen: (Smirks).  She does have a point, perhaps he thinks you’re a walrus as well.  (She laughs as Waliver almost brings Rowen down putting a bit of weight on him).  Careful, they tend to snuggle in herds.

Rowen: (He sighs as he pets the walrus hoping he gets off his back using his energy to keep himself up).  Well now, now might be better to get off my back now. (The walrus seems reluctant as it makes a very low bellow and snort sound making Echo do a high pitch bark and try to nip at the tusk).

Shizen: (Comes over to try and help though she cannot hide her amusement).  Oh, come on now, Mizuko was right about you being a big baby.  Is it that you’re jealous of his mustache?  (She pets Waliver’s head as he snorts his retort making the others laugh).  Well Rowen looks like you have your hands full with a pouting walrus then.

Rowen: (He sighs).  I do not think I should be happy about that now though.

Orion: (Bursts into laughter at the silliness).

Shizen: (Bursts out in more laughter as well patting Rowen’s shoulder and kissing his cheek).  I can at least say it’s amusing.  (As Waliver slides off Rowen’s back and onto the dock on his back with his belly up as if asking for a belly rub like a dog would making most laugh again).

Tori: (He laughs as well as he sees Rowen do as requested of him, so Waliver is not upset with him anymore as Mizuko does the same to Sally with a smile on her face).  Definitely an interesting time with everyone.

Jennifer: (Smiles).  I think we have a few more though.  (She points down making Tori along with Kura being beside him to look down).

Kura: (Sees a 10-foot-long grey creature in some sort of hammock attached to the sea turtle shell floating in the water.  It is about as chubby as the walrus being more round in the middle with stubby flippers and narrowing to a paddle-shaped tail.  Its face has much smaller whiskers and a short but wide snout and cute wide eyes looking very docile as it seems to be napping lightly).  What’s that one then?

Jennifer: It’s a manatee, I this I see a name on the net… Manny, must be his name. I believe people gave them the nickname sea cows because of how they look and how much vegetation they eat but they mostly just sleep most of the day.

Kura: (Laughs a little at that last part nudging Tori). Sounds like your kind of animal. Perhaps you can take a nap with it then.

Tori: (He nudges Kura back). Well maybe it is at least we both know on how to take a good nap really.

Chazz: (He laughs at the comment). Well knowing on how you are sometimes it wouldn’t be surprising if you laid down by it and slept.

Mizuko: (Laughs a little overhearing) I’m sure Manny wouldn’t mind. He’s quite friendly and calm but he falls behind a lot trying to follow so I made him a hammock and rope so he can float along as he naps.

Kairi: (Skips over holding 2-foot-long river otter being brown with tan puffy cheeks. It has big, cute eyes looking up at everyone just like Kairi is as she holds it like a bunny). Tori, you could sleep on his back then during the trip!

Jennifer: (Laughs patting Kairi’s head).  Not a bad idea… Should I question the otter?

Mizuko: No Olly’s the last and smallest of this group that can go on land.

Jennifer: (Nods).  Ahh, I see then.

Tori: Huh… I might just do that, always wanted to try, and sleep while going across sea.

Chazz: I do not think that should be a goal of yours Tori.

Mizuko: Well, it will be an overnight voyage so it’s likely we will be sleeping on the way.  Sorry if it’s too cramped though.

Shizen: (Comes over putting an arm around Mizuko).  I’m sure there’s enough room, don’t worry.

Jennifer: (Nods in agreement).  Should we climb aboard then?

Mizuko: If you are ready, Sally is ready when you are.

Orion: (He smirks as he makes a little stair way out of earth).  Always wanted to say this… All aboard!

Rowen: (He sighs as he follows close behind as the rest of the group are laughing to themselves).

Hiki: (She is waving towards the sea lions still loving them every second).

Kairi: (Still holds Olly as looks back at the Ski and Scoot.  They follow up the stair way to the boat like top on Sally’s shell).  Where will they be staying?

Mizuko: They are pretty good with laying on the shell when their tired of swimming.  (As Ski barks diving into the water followed by Scoot heading towards the shell.  Waliver is much slower and lazily lying on the dock slowly rolling over only to fall off the dock and into the water clumsily).  … Most of them anyways.

Shizen: (Bursts out in laughter).  Quite graceful then.

Orion: As always, they just to want to join the fun in crossing their home, can’t really blame them for trying really so it’s all good overall.  Now let’s get sailing!

Shizen: (Smirks at Orion as everyone starts to get settled in on the wooden boat platform on top).  You sound just as excited as when we were younger.  Back then you even declared yourself a pirate captain.

Kairi: (Cannot help but giggle at the image of Orion as a pirate).

Orion: (He says excitedly).  Yarg all hands-on deck, we’re sailing off!  Something like that right?

Chazz: (He cannot contain his laughter as it just outbursts).  Yes, yes just like that Orion.

Hiki: (She is shocked at first from the sudden outburst from Chazz and can’t help but smile sweetly).

Jennifer: (Bursts out in laughter when Chazz does remember something).  I think I remember catching you trying to talk like about the sea in front of your mirror when we were younger.  (She laughs more not, sure if Chazz noticed her back then).

Chazz: (He thinks to himself).  Hmm I do remember someone being there but I’m not sure… Oh wait… Yes, you were there!

Hiki: (She laughs to herself).  Yes, master did notice but I guess he was embarrassed enough that he hid it away.

Chazz: (He blushes).  H… Hiki… Do not say it like that.

Jennifer: (Laughs again then smiles at Chazz).  Yes, but it was actually quite cute and funny, you were really good at talking like that so do not worry.  (She blushes a little at complementing him).

Shizen: (Swings an arm around Rowen’s shoulder).  Don’t worry, you won’t get scolded for letting loose every now and then.  I’ll make sure of it.

Chazz: (He smiles as he looks up Rowen).  Well, he always did tell me to express myself whenever I wanted too.

Rowen: (He taps Shizen’s arm to let him go).  Well, that is true to a great extent.

Jennifer: (Smiles getting an idea as she starts to rustle through her bag).  I have an idea then….  (She searches through her bag pulling out a deep green cloth scarf and reaches over to Chazz with it.  She wraps the scarf around his head like a pirate head scarf getting a little closer to tie the scarf to the side not realizing how close her face is to is at first being more focused on getting the scarf tied).  It may not be the exact style of scarf but for at least this trip across the ocean you can feel a little like a pirate or sailor.

Chazz: (He blushes from the closeness).  Oh… Um… Thank you… Very much Jennifer.

Jennifer: (Smiles finishing tying the scarf but then realizes how close her face is to Chazz’s beginning to blush as well.  She quickly moves back to sitting beside him with hands folded as she tries to hide her deepening blush making Kairi giggle at them).  Oh umm… You are very welcome… It actually suits you quite nicely too.

Hiki: (She is next to Chazz she feels a ache in her heart but accepts it as she just snuggles onto Chazz’s shoulder).  It does look great on you master.

Jennifer: (Looks at Hiki then Chazz though still blushing she can’t help but smile looking at him. Her feelings showing through the smile and look in her eyes, not that she realizes it). It really does look nice on you Chazz.

Tori: (He sighs). Always so indecisive as he’s the center of attention sometimes but oh well at least they should be happy. (He says quietly as Kura and Kairi hears him).

Kura: (Sighs and smiles as well). As long as their happy. (Looks at Hiki hold onto Chazz more but still smiles looking down).

Kairi: (Giggles at the three but sees that her sister is busy deciding to rest her head on Tori’s shoulder).

Mizuko: (Smiles at the group but then looks to the front of the sea turtle everyone settled in now).  I suppose it’s time to go then, right Sally?  (As the sea turtle starts to move away from the land).

Kairi: (Smiles and gives one bigger wave).  Bye earth city!

Shizen: (Grins then looks at Orion).  No more being in charge for you now, we’re in Mizu’s territory.

Mizuko: (Smiles more politely).  I wouldn’t mind too much, it’s alright. 

Orion: (As Spike lies sprawled out on a bench with his head on Orion’s lap, he pets his dog).  I know Mizu but don’t worry I need a break anyway to relax and enjoy the time as we travel across the sea.

Kairi: (Still giggles looking at Sally’s head seeing something on her head).  Rocky is enjoying the trip too.

Shizen: (Covers her eyes from the sun to see better).  I was wondering where he went.

Orion: Well, whenever Rocky would see Sally, he would always do something like this so it’s mostly natural by this point.

Jennifer: As long as he does not fall off.

Mizuko: They are usually easy to keep an eye on.  It will be fine.

Kura: (Smiles at Mizuko).  You seem like a very kind and polite person.

Mizuko: People say I can be but it’s just that I believe in more peaceful ways of settling things.

Shizen: (Grins looking at Mizuko).  She’s being humble about it.  Truth is she was even the one to agree to making a sanctuary for poison spirits on an island at first.

Kairi: (Has a look of awe).  Wow really, that was really nice of you to let them stay there then.

Mizuko: (Shakes her head).  No, it wasn’t a problem.  It was only that what happened to them was wrong.  Everyone needs a chance no matter their abilities.  (She looks down a little with a small smile).  There was this poison spirit girl a while ago when I was visiting the nature city.  She was very shy and to herself reminding me very much of myself when younger so because of that it swayed that decision even more when Shizen asked me.  Everyone needs a chance after all, even if some made bad choices in the past.

Shizen: I forgot you mentioned meeting Ziona, that was so long ago too.

Kura: (Looks down a little with a small smile).  I suppose that explains why you are helping Yami as well then.

Mizuko: (Smiles compassionately at Kura).  Of course, he is a small child after all.  I understand the points of view of those who have lost so much back then but it’s no reason to put that blame on a little one.

Shizen: Mizu is on our side Kura; you don’t need to worry.

Kura: (Looks at Mizuko feeling a little better hearing that).  Thank you then.

Mizuko: (Continues to smile with a small bow of her head).  It is the least I could do.

Rowen: Well regardless I am very glad to hear that you are helping us Mizuko.

Chazz: I second that because I think we would have such a harder time getting across without some kind of help.

Orion: (Grins hugely as he pets Spike).  Well of course she would help!  She is my big sister after all, she’s one of the best when it comes to water.

Mizuko: (Still nods politely and humbly).  I wouldn’t say I am the best; I just know the element around me.  I don’t mind helping at all as well, but I also just wanted to meet such an interesting group Shizen found as well.

Shizen: (Sighs).  You don’t need to always be humble about your skills Mizuko.

Kairi: (Has a big smile listening to them).  Shizen said you were the strongest right before light and darkness even!

Mizuko: (Gets a sheepish smile but they can see a faint blush).  Well… I’m not sure about that much really….

Tori: No, no I would say all of that because they did talk about you sometimes always worrying if you would overreact or something like that.  I don’t fully remember the details.

Mizuko: (Shakes her head).  No, I don’t believe I have lost control many times.  It is more my little sister I worry about more with that.

Shizen: (Is about to retort to the comment but is unable to knowing she’s right making her sigh).  Though they mostly worried about your level of confidence really.

Mizuko: (Sighs but still with a small smile).  I suppose it is not as high as others.

Jennifer: (Smiles at Mizuko).  You sound like you are very strong and from what I can tell I see that kindness that Shizen kept mentioning.

Kairi: Wait your the big sister but you look so much younger too!

Mizuko: (Bows her head politely).  Well thank you for such high praise.  (She smiles more laughing a little seeing some of sea creatures group climb up Ski the sea lion followed quietly by Scoot resting its head on top of Hiki’s head with a loud bark spooking the two birds Silver and Owlet).

Shizen: (Raises her eyebrows but still looks amused).  True Mizuko looks much younger, but you don’t have to make us seem so old now.

Orion: Though there are some different views who is the older one here but in order to properly understand elements understand fire and water are the some of the few that started everything else here.

Rowen: (He laughs a little bit).  Well regardless I am happy to see that you are so kind.

Hiki: (She gets spooked as well but then giggles as she pets the sea lion).

Shizen: (Smiles).  Yes, fire and water are as opposite as darkness and light are to each other, so they are often compared in the same way.  It’s actually quite hard to tell who is younger or older since we don’t age and even children age at different paces as well until adults.  Some take many decades others take many centuries.

Jennifer: That makes a lot of sense actually.

Kura: (Looks down but nods her understanding feeling a little sick from the rocking of the sea).

 

They continue to talk lightly as they are going into open ocean looking at the beautiful clear blue color around them.  Chazz and Hiki both find themselves looking into the water seeing the animals on the shell that tagged along but noticing two new one’s swimming alongside them standing out much more.  Chazz is drawn to the black and white Orca and Hiki noticing something similar to a chubby white dolphin swimming quickly around them.

Hiki: (She nudges at Chazz to keep looking at the animals with her).  Come on master look at that one too!

Tori: (As the two are busy he lays back as the rest of the group enjoys the ride for right now).

Jennifer: (Looks over the side with both of them).  That’s an orca and a beluga whale.

Mizuko: (Looks over the side into the water with a smile at the whales).  Orkid and Bally must of caught up with us now that we are out at sea.

Jennifer: (Thinks back to the other names of the sea creatures).  Hmm… So, Sally, Ski, Scoot, Waliver, Manny, Olly, Orkid and Bally… I am starting to see a pattern with most of these names.

Kairi: (Leans over the side to see better pointing a Orkid and Bally excitedly).  Their names are so cute!  That one is even a balance whale!

Rowen: Well, I wouldn’t call them that really.  They are orcas, we do not see them often around our home because we do not live near their usual habitat.

Kairi: But Orkid is like Echo, she has the same colors, and the beluga Bally is a cute chubby dolphin.

Jennifer: True we do not live near an ocean so I only have seen many ocean creatures in books, but they are quite amazing.  (She looks at Mizuko).  Why do so many follow you though?

Mizuko: (Smiles looking at all the sea creatures).  Well, when Shizen first proposed the idea of animals being brought into other territories Orion and I were the first to agree.  I also started a sea creature rescue shortly after and the ones I rescued tend to follow me around when they are able.

Jennifer: (Stops and looks at the seals and others more closely seeing a few scars, but her smile grows at how happy they seem Waliver going over to Rowen again lying at his feet from the long trip up the shell).  You rescued them then….

Chazz: (He pauses as Jennifer says that and cannot help but smile as well as hold Hiki’s hand tightly out of instinct as she used to fill that role for him whenever they were alone to comfort each other).

Hiki: (She notices the tight hold and smiles as she is glad Chazz remembers the close times they had when he was younger).

Jennifer: (Smiles waving at the two whales who wave back resting her head on Chazz’s shoulder getting a relaxed feeling from it).

Kairi: (Giggles as she picks up Olly again petting the otter while resting her head on Tori’s shoulder).

Orion: (He sees the group finally settling down even Kura and he sighs in relief).  Well, we might as well relax for right now since going to be here for a little bit.  (He sees Tori is already napping).  Well, that’s a fine example Tori.

Shizen: (Rests her head on Rowen’s shoulder as well while helping him with Echo who is in a more playful mood).  Yes, it will be an overnight voyage so might as well.

Mizuko: (Has a kind smile as she looks at the sky seeing the sun is closer to setting but not quite giving a few moments for them to rest before she speaks up).  I can guess you have had a long day traveling so relax all you like.  I even brought some snacks to eat as well if you would like since it is around dinner.

Rowen: Yes, it was a long trip since we camped out the night before making it to Orion’s city.

Mizuko: I see then I suppose a few snacks would help?  (As she ruffles through a shelf in a wood carved platform with a polite smile).

Jennifer: (Smiles back).  That’s very generous of you.

Kura: I still can taste the earth territory Sheppard’s pie honestly.  (Her stomach then grumbles).  … But I suppose a small dinner would be nice.

Mizuko: Well, it’s not like Sheppard’s pie but I thought it would be nice to try my element cuisine as well since you have seen so much of earth.

Kairi: (Looks at Mizuko her interest sparked).  So, water territory food?

Shizen: (Grins).  Water territory cuisine huh, your favorite then.  (She nudges Orion as she says the last part sarcastically).

Orion: (He sighs).  Well, I always try her food whenever I can.  I haven’t had much luck so far, though I do like the noodles usually.

Mizuko: (Smiles as she starts taking out many pots with covers to keep heat in and what looks like bento boxes).  I did bring some Soba and Udon noodles for you since you liked it more last time.

Jennifer: (Perks up seeing the bento boxes).  Oh, I believe those are from Japanese cuisine?

Mizuko: (Nods as she is taking out the food).  Yes, very much similar to it, I find their fashion and food quite interesting and most of our food involves fish as well for obvious reasons.

Jennifer: (Smiles sitting up more with interest).  I haven’t tried their food since it’s so far away from my land.

Kairi: (Her smile grows sitting up more).  Me either but the kimonos are really pretty to wear.

Rowen: Well, the Japanese culture is always a unique culture.  Though in different variations culture have adapted some of their ways as the Japanese have done to ours in order to bring themselves to a more modern era.

Chazz: Huh I never really knew though it is understandable on why they would do that.

Rowen: Well next time you should pay attention during my lesson. 

Chazz: (Just looks down as he scratches his head with a nervous laugh).

Mizuko: (Smiles at Rowen).  I agree though it has been some time since I visited but the traditional conservative style can be quite nice as well as the cuisine.

Shizen: (Leans back her green top being low cut exposing cleavage like most of her outfits having both arms spread out on the wooden rail with one uncovered arm around Rowen).  The conservative fashion always suited you so much more.

Mizuko: (Smiles having her arms closer and in her lap with long kimono sleeves and the deep blue layered fabric making it so her figure is barely exposed at all).  Yes, we seem to be quite opposite in that.

Orion: Well even when we were younger you always acted so shy, but you have gotten better for sure when it has come down to expressing yourself.

Mizuko: Well, I had to become more outspoken as my territory’s leader after all.

Shizen: Her way of expression can be shown through art and music mostly but if you visit her home, you can see quite a lot of those things.  I would be careful though; Mizu can be a bit of a hoarder.

Mizuko: (Gains a faint blush and small pout).  I wouldn’t say I am a hoarder really.

Shizen: Hmm every time you stop somewhere you pick up a little knickknack to take home.  All your shelves are filled with those.

Mizuko: (Her blush deepens as she digs through her kimono sleeve pulling out shiny blue gemstones in earring settings and a tiny dolphin sculpture made of stone from the earth city).  It is just nice to take it home as a memory is all.

Shizen: (Leans over to Mizuko with a grin).  I’m just teasing you, Mizu.  It’s something a respect about you in fact.

Orion: (He laughs as he rubs Mizuko’s head).  Now you know we mean no harm, it’s because we love you that we tease you.

Shizen: And with that comes protectiveness to the most peaceful and trusting.

Mizuko: (Smiles at both Orion and Shizen).  I appreciate it and feel the same way, but I don’t feel you need to be too protective now.  (She laughs a little).  How about we just have some snacks and relax instead.  We can’t have most of the boat ride about myself.

Shizen: Oh, we are on water, so it seems appropriate.

Kairi: (Giggles with the others which makes Mizuko stop and blush again.  Kairi has a big smile watching Shizen and Mizuko chat and bicker a little getting more curious about the bento boxes as well.  Looking back at Tori who still has his eyes closed she pokes his cheek gently).  Tori are you awake?  There’s food now if you are hungry.

Tori: (It seems he is fast asleep as soon as he rested his eyes).

Hiki: I wouldn’t bother once his eyes are close, he isn’t getting up anytime soon.

Kairi: (Smiles at Hiki).  I know, I just wanted to make sure he was not hungry.  Maybe Silver is, birds like fish.  (She looks around for Silver seeing her fly high above making her giggle gliding easily on the wind current back down to perch on the railing smelling the fish).

Jennifer: (Looks up at Silver then Owlet with a smile who bobs his head up and down wanting fish as well).  After something to eat it would be good practice for Owlet to fly with the wind current like this.  Maybe Silver can help him learn.  (She sees Silver turn away stubbornly, but Owlet look at her cute innocently).  … Well maybe after she gets used Owlet.  She’s very adamant that she is the boss here between them.

Shizen: (Laughs at the two).  Yes, Silver defiantly has an independent spirit against other birds indeed.  Just give her some time, I can tell Owlet wants to get along.

Mizuko: (Smiles politely at Silver).  I have enough fish dishes, is there is a problem sharing?  (She hears the sea lion and Walrus bark pouting at them).  But others will have to hunt them on their own.  (She looks at her animals apologetically as they seem to pout).

Chazz: Well, it seems like Silver does not want to get along with Owlet even though he wants too… Yet does not, if that makes any sense whatsoever.

Jennifer: It does in a stubborn type of way.

Kairi: They do seem really hungry for fish though; it smells like soy sauce too.

Mizuko: Yes, many of our dishes come with soy sauce and rice.  We also got into the habit of drinking green tea from herbs shipped from the nature territory as well if you would like any.  (She pulls out one of the pots from the food items she brought along as well as clay drinking cups beginning to pour it carefully).

Shizen: I remember it becoming your favorite drink.  I’m glad you brought it.  (She accepts the cup happily).

Kura: (Takes the cup hoping it will settle her stomach from the waves).  Thank you very much.

Jennifer: (Smiles politely at Mizuko as she accepts the cup along with Kairi).  Thank you, I am quite fond of tea myself and thank you for bringing so much along to share with us.

Mizuko: You are my guests, so I do not mind at all plus I wanted to take a little bit of my culture to share as well.  I’m just glad the containers kept it warm.  (She smiles as she continues to offer cups of tea to everyone before taking one herself.

Orion: Well, that was always like you as your kindness keeps shining bright but hey your culture is pretty good though I do like mine a bit more.

Shizen: We are all bias when it comes to our own territories.  (She sees one of the dishes and grins eyeing it noticing it is seaweed salad).  But the other territories can certainly be appreciated. 

Mizuko: (Sees Shizen eyeing the seaweed salad handing some to her to dig in).  I knew you liked the taste of seaweed salad, so I brought you some as well.

Shizen: (Grins more as she grabs some chop sticks to dig in).  Known so well.  (She takes a bite happily then looks to Rowen offering him some on the chopstick).

Kura: (Looks a little skeptical at the seaweed, others looking at it curiously).  Eating seaweed?

Rowen: (He takes the bite off the chop sticks and smiles).  Yes seaweed, though the name does not sound appealing the plant itself is actually full of good nutrients.

Shizen: (Smiles at Rowen feeding him the seaweed and herself seeming quite happy with it).  Yes, it is one of those types of food that have an acquired taste to them.

Mizuko: Yes, Shizen and Orion have quite opposite views on that dish.

Jennifer: I see, then it will be a little new food adventure.  (She is offered two of the bento boxes passing one to Chazz.  The one she keeps herself she opens getting a curious smile to what is inside.  Inside the box is a variety of sushi with rice and seaweed and a variety of fresh raw vegetables and fish in each cut up roll with soy sauce and wasabi on the side).  I see then, is this one sushi?  (She looks over to Chazz seeing him open his seeing it’s a bit different with pieces of neatly cut sashimi being different types of fresh raw fish from salmon to tuna with soy sauce and wasabi on the side as well).  Wait… Raw fish?

Orion: Well though I don’t like sushi as much raw fish is the same thing as seaweed though it matters more on how you prepare it since any misstep ruins the taste.

Jennifer: (looks at the boxes and nods being curious though a little skeptical as she tries using the chopsticks correctly. She looks at Chazz who has a piece of tuna that he examines it. Taking a bite, she gets a surprised expression finishing her bite before speaking).

Kairi: (Looks at both Jennifer curiously and anxiously). How is it?

Jennifer: I was a little skeptical but the ingredients being so fresh and with the soy sauce it actually tastes quite nice.

Kairi: (Smiles wanting to try it more but then sees Chazz still staring at the slice of raw tuna on his chop stick). What about you Chazz?

Chazz: (He puts it back down). I’m sorry Mizuko but I haven’t been a big fan of tuna my apologies…. (He frowns as he hopes he isn’t offending her).

Mizuko: (Smiles kindly) it’s no problem at all. Like I said before it is not for everyone. I think I may have something more in your taste. It’s one of the dishes Orion likes. (Starts to shuffle through the food looking for a certain bowl).

Jennifer: (Smiles at Chazz). It’s alright maybe there’s something more suited for you, the soy sauce does make it better though. (As she is trying to comfort Chazz Owlet does a small leap to reach the box of sashimi starting to eat slice by slice offering some to Silver who looks away but then accepts it quickly with a chirp turning away again when she eats it).  At least those two like the dish. Owlet seems to be making a breakthrough with it. He’s a very sweet owl.

Hiki: (She giggles as she pets Owlet).  He really is, I’m happy he came to my shoulder.  Hey Owlet, I got some more fish for you if you would like some.  (She holds it out for Owlet who quickly follows Hiki as she takes some of the fish to feed Owlet seeming very eager about it).

Mizuko: (Finishes shuffling around the boxes and bowls holding what looks like a soup bowl with a lid to keep the heat in).  I hope this is more to your taste Chazz.  (She reaches over to give the bowl to Chazz taking off the lid to what looks like long noodles in broth with slices of pork, green onion, seaweed, and egg).  It’s ramen, it should have a better taste than the sashimi for you.

Chazz: (He stares in interest hugely since he enjoys noodle dishes).  Yes… I believe this will suffice just fine.

Orion: (He laughs as he taps Chazz’s back).  Yeah, that’s what I always choose since it doesn’t have many fish in it so it tastes pretty good with all the different combinations you can do with the dish.

Mizuko: (Smiles).  I am glad, then please enjoy it.  A lot of people tend to enjoy the more cooked foods, I don’t blame them.

Jennifer: (Smiles as she continues to eat the sushi).  Some of the sushi taste quite nice though too so thank you.

Mizuko: I’m glad, it is a bit more difficult for us to have fire to cook so there are many places quite skilled at making sushi.  (She looks at Hiki seeing the birds have picked nearly all the sashimi out taking a different bento box of food to offer to Hiki with a kind smile).  Would you like something cooked as well?  It looks like your bird friends ate all the sashimi.

Hiki: (She shakes her head).  No, no it’s alright I’ll just share with master if I get hungry.  Thank you though.  (As she takes a noodle and eats it with a smile on her face).

Chazz: (He looks in disappointment as a noodle was taken away).  Aww….

Mizuko: (Smiles and laughs a little).  If sharing is an issue let me know.  I can at least give you these to share.  It’s a popular snack.  (She still puts the box between Hiki taking the lid away being fried tempura seafood and vegetables with soy sauce).  It’s tempura and I always thought it made a nice side.

Kairi: (Looks over with Kura).  Anything fried cannot taste bad.

Hiki: Ohh I would like to try those!  (She takes a piece as Chazz enjoys his ramen to himself).

Rowen: Well, it is a very popular snack as it becomes a great side dish to different sushi restaurants, or any restaurant related to the culture I believe.

Mizuko: You are correct, it is mostly done with shrimp and vegetables.

Kairi: (Is at the end of her seat wanting to get her own bento box being excited seeing what everyone else has gotten, shaking Tori a little to wake him up).  Tori just wake up to try a little food alright?  It is like a surprise in a lunch box!

Mizuko: (Smiles at Kairi has she looks for boxes to give to Kairi).  I am glad to see you are excited about the food, but if Mr. Tori is tired perhaps let him rest.

Tori: (He opens one eye and smiles).  Oh, I’m sorry I was just trying to rest for the day since feeling tired anyway.

Hiki: Well, it’s time to get up sleepyhead, get up and eat because now you’re making Kairi worried or would you want her to kiss you to wake you up.  (She giggles knowing the two have already kissed).

Tori: Wh-What are you saying idiot!  (He blushes as he gets up fully).

Kairi: (Giggles and blushes looking at Tori as she takes the food boxes).

Jennifer: (instantly is taken off guard by Hiki’s comment giving a warning glare to Tori almost breaking her chopsticks, eating with them again to distract her mind from such an idea).

Kairi: (Does not notice the glare being more focused on Tori smiling brightly as she hands him one of the bento boxes).  Sorry to wake you but I wanted to make sure you had something to eat, and it is water territory food too!

Tori: (He is still a bit flustered but then looks around and sees everyone’s plate).  Ahh, I see, now I was wondering I smelled fish and I see Silver is digging into a dish.

Kairi: It looks really nice, so I didn’t want you to miss out.  Here what is in yours?  (She lifts the cover of the box, Tori seeing a curry with a side of white rice.  The curry has soy sauce, onions, carrots, sweet potatoes and chicken).  It looks normal.

Mizuko: (Realizes what she gave to them and smiles).  Oh, it’s just a mild curry and rice dish just with our own take on it.  It’s very simple for people not used to the other foods like sushi or fish.

Tori: Well, I do like curry so thank you very much.  I’m always happy to try different versions of curry so I’ll dig in, thank you very much.  (He starts to eat happily).

Kairi: (Smiles and eagerly lifts the lid of the food on her lap. She pauses seeming puzzled at the dish being flat and round like a pancake with green onion, beef, shrimp, squid, vegetables, mochi and cheese.  She pokes the food with a chopstick curiously).  What is this one?

Mizuko: It is Okonomiyaki, it is like a stir fry added to a liquid dough to cook.

Kairi: It looks like a pancake.  (Still looks very confused by the name but prepares to take a bite curiously.  Once she takes a bite it takes her a few bites to pause looking like she’s trying to not spit it out or make a face).

Jennifer: (Looks over able to tell she’s not liking it at all clearly).  You do not like it then?

Mizuko: (Smiles kindly at Kairi).  It’s alright if you don’t like it.

Kairi: (Manages to get some down but has an apologetic look).  I am sorry, I forgot I do not like seafood….

Kura: (Looks at Kairi questioningly).  How do you forget not liking fish?

Tori: (He smirks as he eats the fish off her chopstick).  Well than just let me eat it.  It would be waste to not eat it, so I got you Kairi.  (He smiles towards her).

Kairi: (Looks at Tori beginning to blush.  She gets an idea looking at Tori’s chopsticks eating a piece of chicken off them).  Thank you, Tori!  (She giggles but still blushes offering another bite of fish to Tori).

Jennifer: (Looks at both Tori and Kairi seeming to soften her expression a little sighing a little looking down at her food with a small smile).

Hiki: (She cannot help but laugh as she eats some food from Chazz still as he just ignores happily).  Well master is enjoying his food so I’m glad.

Kura: (Smiles at the people around her enjoying their food when she is offered on too pausing but then smiling at Mizuko).  Why thank you.

Mizuko: You’re very welcome.

Kura: (Lifts the lid of the clay pot finding a hot pot of seafood with vegetables on the side smiling at Mizuko).  Boiled seafood then.  (She starts eating but has a little difficulty with the chopsticks at first).

Shizen: (Grins at Mizuko).  Mizu you brought miso soup as well right?  I wouldn’t mind a bowl if you brought enough.

Mizuko: (Laughs a little pouring some of the bowl she has into a cup for Shizen).  Of course, it is my favorite, so I brought plenty along.

Shizen: (Has an eager expression taking the cup of miso soup with tofu, onion wakane seaweed).  Thank you, I don’t blame you for liking it so much.

Mizuko: Yes, it has quite a nice taste to it.  (She looks at Rowen offering him a bento kindly as well Echo sitting up in his lap smelling the box which makes her wag her tail eagerly).

Rowen: (He sighs as he pets Echo).  Now be polite Echo, no fooling around by our hostess today.  (He takes the bento box).  Thank you very much for the food, Mizuko

Mizuko: (Laughs and nods).  Don’t worry, she’s a very cute little puppy.  Ski and Bally can be quite playful as well, so I understand.  (She smiles more hearing a bark and splash on the edge of the shell).

Rowen: (Echo is already sliding the lid off with her nose seeing wooden brochette skewers with chicken on them covered teriyaki sauce.  Echo is already trying to eat one of the wooden sticks having to move the box away quickly, so she does not choke.  He sighs as he picks up the chopsticks and feeds some chicken to Echo after getting some of it off the skewers).  Well regardless I appreciate the hospitality.

Mizuko: (Smiles and nods politely).  I hope you like the Yakitori then, it’s like eating a kabob of chicken so no chopsticks are really needed.  (She lastly looks at Orion handing him one of the bento boxes, Spike lifting his head to smell the box but being much calmer about it than Echo).  I know not all dishes are to your taste but hopefully there’s one here that’s simple enough.

Shizen: (Leans over to Orion as she’s eats her soup).  I think you gave him the giant the biggest box, smart.  Now whatever is in there you must eat the whole thing.

Mizuko: (Shakes her head no with a laugh).  I’m not sure which one that is but I can give him another if it is not to his taste.

Orion: Well, I trust that you know what I like but no I’m sure you were really careful in choosing in what food to put in what box so I’m sure that it will fine.  (He smiles towards Mizu as he pets Spike).

Mizuko: I hope so at least.

Orion: (He opens the box he sees many types of Onigiri rice balls, most being simple with a little seaweed others being filled with meat, fish or vegetables.  Most have the same simple but good look others Orion can see Mizuko had gotten creative with being the shape of animals like cats and their faces made of seaweed).

Shizen: (Pouts slightly).  And I was hoping it would be sushi.

Orion: Well too bad for you Shizen, I get the rice balls.  I always look forward to having these.  (He points at Shizen as he says this and eats the rice balls happily knowing Mizu would do a fine job).

Shizen: (Laughs seeing Spike eat one that was offered getting rice all over his mouth sniffing the box again eating them just as fast as Orion happily).  Well then consider yourself lucky this round.

Mizuko: (Smiles looking at everyone enjoy the food while serving herself last.  She picks up a bowl filled with udon noodles in broth and starts eating as well).  I’m just happy everyone could find something they like to eat at least.

Orion: (He eats as he hugs Mizu from the side).  Well, it’s the food you prepared for us, so of course it’s going to be good and eaten.

Mizuko: (Nods as she continues to smile).  I’m glad then.

Jennifer: (Watches Shizen, Orion and Mizuko and can’t help but smile about it).  You do seem very close to one another.  It’s nice to see.

Shizen: (Grins).  Well, we have been very close to one another from the start, so we consider each other brother and sister.  It is why our territories still have a strong relationship with one another.

Rowen: Well, it would only make sense since you all have been near each other since the very beginning so it would be quite odd if you did not think of each other like that.

Orion: (He laughs).  Well of course because who else would I bother if it wasn’t for these two.  I wouldn’t be able to enjoy my job.

Mizuko: Yes, we are neighboring territories with elements that work together so it would make sense for us to get along so well.

Kairi: (Tilts her head to the side curiously as she listens).  What about the other territories?  Do they get along?

Shizen: (Smiles though not as big as before).  Well, more recently and even before the last war occurred it has been quite split with fire and wind on one side, us three on the other and light and darkness in the middle where balance once was.  It’s a form of alliance I suppose started between the 2nd and 3rd generation.

Orion: Though to be fair, in the past all the elements got along just fine.  It was only around the third generation when tensions were rising for some reason.  It was never fully understood why but wind just began having issues with a lot of people and it became complicated for a good while and now the whole ordeal with Agni doesn’t help much either in trying to keep neutral relations.

Jennifer: With all the fighting going on I cannot imagine all the territories getting along at one point honestly….

Shizen: (Sighs and nods).  Yes, with things seen recently I would think the same as well if I were you… But there was indeed a time each of us got along… Sure we didn’t agree on every subject, but we at least were friendly with one another.

Kairi: You even got along with Agni and wind council person?  (She pauses trying to remember the wind council members name).

Shizen: You mean Seiji and yes believe it or not there was a time we got along with them.  Seiji is a slightly different case since he was the stricter of us always agreeing laws and following them to the book no matter the situation.  As for Agni, he wasn’t… How he is now… Filled with thoughts of power and madness… Back then, he was even kind at times behind the showy sarcasm and intellect…. (She looks down in thought but sighs wanting to shake away those thoughts).

Kura: I… Can’t believe that… Not at all….  (She looks away and down saying quietly as the group looks a bit surprised and a bit of disbelief).

Chazz: Well, we also have to understand that anything can change that in a person.  No matter how it is looked at we are innocent until something in the world changes that.

Shizen: That is one of the things Nagi and Shiro believed and taught in balance as well.

Kairi: Then maybe we can talk to him and try to get through to him.  That way Yami can come back faster, and territories can be peaceful again.

Shizen: (Smiles slightly at Kairi shakes her head no).  That is a very optimistic point of view but at some points turning back is not an option and too much harm to repair was caused.  I know you want to see the good in all but sometimes people will turn away from it and it can’t be helped.  They are too far gone to reach out to especially with so much hurt.

Kairi: (Nods but frowns looking down).  I understand… I just hope things can better one day.

Kura: (Nods clenching her fists as she looks down).

Mizuko: (As this happens, they hear a snap like a stick breaking suddenly in the direction of Mizuko catching everyone’s attention suddenly).

Rowen: (He sighs knowing this atmosphere is not very good right now as he hopes Mizuko does not get upset hearing stories from Shizen and Orion).

Shizen: Mizu…. (She instantly turns with concern to Mizuko hearing the chopsticks break in her hand regretting some of the things she said instantly. She quickly goes to Mizuko’s side with Orion seeing her just look down with her mind deep in thoughts with the ocean waves swaying them a little more than before with Mizuko’s emotions).

Orion: (He keeps a hand on her shoulder as he shakes her a little bit).  Now, now Mizu everything is fine.  No need to get all upset right now.

Shizen: (Sighs kneeling to look at Mizuko).  Let’s move away for a little bit.  (She looks behind her at the others standing with Mizuko and Orion to sit further away at least out of earshot if they talked quietly giving Rowen a nod and small smile).  If you could excuse us for a moment….

Orion: (He sighs as he bows for one second as he takes Mizuko with him and Shizen).  Shouldn’t take too long everyone.

Shizen: (As everyone gives a concerned and confused look, she goes to the other side of the platform, being still in view but out of earshot.  She sits with Mizuko, Orion sitting on the other side being quiet for a moment with her arm around her comfortingly).

Mizuko: (Just looks down silently, her hands clenched in her lap).

Orion: Now Mizu it’s alright.  (As he taps her back hearing slight concern from Tori and everyone else as Rowen just tried to reassure them everything is fine).

Shizen: (Rubs Mizuko’s shoulder comfortingly, looking down as well).  I should be more careful of how blunt my words are… I don’t think I have been blunt often about those facts… I’m sorry bringing up your hurt brought those emotions and sorrow back again… I guess I replaced most of that hurt towards him to anger many times.

Mizuko: (Still is mostly silent her hands clenched more in her lap).  We… All deal with it our own ways… So, no need to apologize… I’m just sorry to let those emotions control me still.

Shizen: You are the council member who has the most emotional responses to things, it’s good to have that.  The only thing wrong about that is you apologize too much and put blame that’s not yours on your shoulders.  Like Shiro always told you, you need to have more confidence in yourself and as a leader.

Mizuko: (Looks down quietly but nods her agreement on Shizen’s statements).

Orion: (He smiles as he taps her back).  Now let’s not try to get upset because we might as well make the best of the situation currently so let’s just relax as we still must travel through the night.

Mizuko: (Sighs and nods).  It’s not right for me to have a reaction like this to simple talk… And I understand what you are saying Shizen I truly do… Perhaps I still need time for those things.

Shizen: (Leans back a little as she thinks).  It always takes time, but I do suggest trying harder to let go of your emotions and feelings to him… You can’t even look at him now… And I don’t blame you and I know those feelings to well… But every time you are near him you end up like this afterwards… So, tell me what happened then….

Mizuko: I… I understand… But it’s something easier said than done… And I only healed his wound from when Yami bit him while leaving the human world… that is all….

Shizen: (Laughs a little shaking her head as she looks down).  You need to stop doing that for him, you’re only hurting yourself that way.  Then again you are the most compassionate one I know… You believe anyone can change their lives around… But in this case that won’t happen… There’s already been too much damage done to be redeemed and you know that.  So please let him go.  (She places hand on Mizuko’s hip and thigh looking more serious but sincere in what she’s saying).  I don’t want my big sister to hurt more than she already has been.

Mizuko: (Winces when Shizen places her hand where her thigh and hip is looking down with a small nod after the small wince of pain even with such a light touch.  She sighs understanding Shizen’s point knowing what she’s gone through as well to think that way completely).

Orion: (He can’t bring himself to say anything as he is upset at himself that he couldn’t be there to help Mizu… He can’t stand the feelings of torment sweep up inside of him again).

Mizuko: (There is a long moment’s pause before anything more is said but after that pause it is Mizuko who lifts her head).  I understand well where you’re coming from Shizen… I know you say these things to protect me… But some things cannot be helped such as emotions, feelings and beliefs that fill my compassionate nature.  I know whenever you think of your past that way your rage builds but keep in mind the good things that came out of those emotions even if it was very temporary.  Maybe therein lies those changes this world needs and all this fighting can end.

Shizen: (Looks down shaking her head no).  I’m sorry Mizuko I no longer see that goodness in him, only that madness that has destroyed so much… I’ve moved on from those feelings and I don’t think any good could repair that let alone come out of him.  I just don’t see the good or hope….

Mizuko: (Pauses for a few more seconds then slowly looks up at Shizen having her kind and compassionate smile taking her hand to comfort as well.  She only has to say one word to make her point to Shizen and realize what is the good that came from Shizen’s experience knowing she’s not from forgetting her but from forgetting where she came from).  … Adara….

Shizen: (Her eyes widen, and mouth opens in surprise looking at Mizuko but slowly closes understanding what Mizuko is saying proving her point completely with that gaining a small smile looking down with a small nod).

Orion: (He is also caught off guard with the statement as he laughs).  Well, she does have a point, so you don’t need to harbor so much anger since you helped get one great daughter.  (He says loud enough that only the two hear him no one else).

Shizen: (Nods and sighs though still cannot help but smile).  It looks like I was the one trying to give advice and instead be given advise myself.  You proved your point well Mizuko and you are right.  My little girl is one of the greatest things in this life if not the greatest of all.  I can’t forget how she came into this world and how beautiful and brilliant she is.  A lot of those traits are not my own so I will try to keep that in mind even though there’s hurt and anger for what her father is and has done.

Mizuko: I understand that, and I am glad you see my point as well.  (She smiles more looking forward seeing Rowen sitting with the others). I am glad though you found yourself someone you genuinely love though.  He seems like a very nice man as well.

Shizen: (Looks at Rowen her smile growing when seeing him).  Yes, he’s quite something.  He balances my wildness quite well as my mate… I think this time… I have found someone that the feelings feel genuine this time, not just filling the need for a companion being blinded by that…. With Rowen I feel there’s something even more there to make my feelings last for as long as possible…. I want to hold onto that.

Mizuko: (Continues to smile listening to Shizen).  I’m happy for you then… Have you told him these types of things yet?  About your past and Adara.  If it is serious, you should tell him, and he should meet her.

Shizen: I have told him very small parts about my daughter though not much, but he has been very patient with me opening up to him.  I’m thankful for that and I will tell him everything soon.  Maybe after meeting my daughter… I just hope some parts he is not hurt by.

Orion: (He smiles as he taps Shizen’s back).  After knowing the guy for as long as I have… He doesn’t hate anything easily and trust me when I say… Your feelings of love are what he needs… After the passing of his past wife… I have seen him destroyed… But after he met young Chazz over there it seemed… Everything became better for him.

Shizen: I see… And I will tell him that story when it feels like the right time… Thank you for your advice.  (She looks at Mizuko with a small laugh).  This talk turned around on me quite a bit.

Mizuko: (Still has a kind smile as she nods).  Like water I tend to reflect a person’s emotions onto them to face so I suppose so.  I do ask not to worry too much about me, I believe things will become better even if now that looks impossible.  There will always be hard times and hurt followed by good and peaceful times.  That is part of balance after all.

Orion: (He laughs as he remembers Nagi and Shiro taking most of the night to talk about that).  Yeah, overall that is the effect of it but oh well let’s get back to everyone to make sure they don’t worry as much anymore.

Mizuko: (Nods in agreement but looks out at the ocean first).  I will be there in a little bit.  I just want a peaceful moment listening to the waves, it’s quite calming.

Shizen: (Grins and stands up to head back).  You always enjoyed that but then again, I am the same way with nature.  I think I will head back now though just to explain some parts, so they do not worry more than they already are then.

Orion: Well at least don’t let us worry too much, and I’ll head back as well to help try to explain to everyone what happened.  (He starts to move back towards the group with a grin on his face).

Shizen: (As she walks back with Orion, she cannot help but smile and laugh shaking her head).  That didn’t go to my first plan of advice at all.  No wonder she wins in debates and meetings so easily and calmly… She has good points every time though.

Orion: Well, that’s how she always has been, she will bring up valid points that the person forgets about in order to help reinforce her own point.

Shizen: Very true, sometimes I forget how well she can handle herself most times but that doesn’t mean our habit of being protective of her ever stops.  She is our big sister after all.  The world needs that peaceful approach of kindness and compassion as well.

Orion: True… But regardless I still feel terrible about what happened to her, and it pains me to remember it… So, I’ll keep doing my best to be that stone wall.

Shizen: You always are that giant looking after and protecting us.  Just know I have the same feelings but none of those things were your fault.  (She smiles placing a hand on Orion’s shoulder comfortingly as they are back with the group, all of them turning to them with concern).

Jennifer: Is everything alright, Mizuko seemed very upset.

Kairi: Will she be alright, will she come back over?

Orion: Yeah, everything seems to be ok now since she has calmed down and help calm Shizen over here at the same time.  (He says as he taps her back with a big grin on his face).

Rowen: (He cannot help but laugh at the two as it seems Shizen smirks about it but laughs as well but with a sense of embarrassment in her voice).  Well, I’m just glad everything is alright now.  Now shall we move on from that topic of discussion now?

Shizen: (Still laughs and nods).  It would be preferable.

Kura: (Looks from Shizen to Orion then to Mizuko still sitting aside having a question on her mind).  I do want to ask something though since I was watching the three of you talk.  Mizuko looked in a little pain with her leg, is she wounded?  If she is maybe one of us could help with healing.

Shizen: (Her laugh fades looking at Kura not realizing that was noticed).  It’s… Just a old burn wound from a very tough battle….

Jennifer: (Has a concerned and questioning look).  A burn?  Is she alright, I did not think a water spirit could be burned?

Shizen: She was protecting nearby villages from fires with her water during the last great battle involving the council members and Izumi…. She just didn’t leave enough water to protect herself wanting to save as many as she could… So that will always be a weak point on her physical body.

Kura: (Looks down and nods).  I understand, I’m sorry if I asked to personal so of a question. 

Jennifer: But from what we have seen fire and water are pretty opposite as well then….

Shizen: Yes, they are just as opposite as light and darkness but just… Not as close.

Kairi: Shouldn’t balance always be close though?

Shizen: (Has to pause from the question before answering) … I suppose not from how things are now.

Kairi: (Pauses but then looks over at Mizuko smiling).  Well… She still is an amazing person though because she does everything, she can to protect others.

Shizen: (Her smile returns looking at Kairi).  Yes, she is a very pure person indeed.

Tori: (As Shizen is answering questions he and Hiki look down remembering the panic in their own cites as everything was happening as they both feel pain in their chest).

Chazz: (As a result of that he is feeling the same thing as though his heart and mind are experiencing the memories in quick succession.  He is beginning to feel as though he is watching a movie, the feelings of dread and sadness swell he grabs his chest because of the slight pain he is feeling).

Rowen: (He takes small notice as he sighs).  Well, it is true she seems very kind and I am glad she did what she could though it is a shame she could not protect herself properly.  She is very admirable and brave knowing the risks that would occur.

Shizen: (Knows sad feelings are being brought back up and nods trying to move past them quickly as well looking at Rowen).  Yes, she is both those things, but I agree to move past this subject now.  Save the serious talk for us council members tomorrow.

Hiki: (She shakes her head yes as she is making the hand sighs to hurry along to the next topic).  Maybe something happier?  We don’t need to get bummed out on this trip right now. So please let’s find something else to talk about, maybe how everyone is enjoying the ride so far?  Anything really will work

Jennifer: (Nods feeling how much Hiki and the others want to move on).

Kairi: (Smiles brightly at Hiki to cheer her up).  It will be alright, and this trip is really amazing.  I cannot wait to tell Yami all about it.

Kura: (Gives a small smile to Kairi).  I’m sure he will be very jealous especially of the food but act like it is no big deal.  I bet he is driving our uncles and aunt crazy at the moment.

Tori: Knowing him he probably is in all different kinds of way.  (He laughs).

Kura: (Laughs a little as well).  Yes, I should have wished them luck.

Kairi: (Smiles positively).  At least he has a chance to reconnect with more of his family.

Kura: (Pats Kairi’s head for her positive).  You are very right Kairi, thank you.  (As the animals seems to do their share of lightening the mood Silver picking at Tori’s hair affectionately and Owlet just looking at Hiki cute and innocently on her shoulder).

Orion: (He smiles greatly as does Rowen seeing the atmosphere become much lighter and Kura not acting as impatient).  Well at least everyone is smiling right now so we can share with no one left out.  (The smiles come back one by one with Spike lifting his head from Orion’s lap to sniff him seeming to have enjoyed the rice balls heavily rice covering his mouth.  Echo has the same idea wagging her tail and putting her front paws up on him to reach his face to lick teriyaki sauce covering her face seeming to enjoy the chicken as well).

Shizen: (Laughs as well with a grin at the companions seeing Rocky rest on top of Sally’s head who swims steadily with them on her back).  The animals want to cheer things up as well I see.

Rowen: Well, it is only natural that they understand how to help someone feel better because they don’t want to see anyone sad either.

Shizen: (Laughs more seeing the walrus peering over Rowen’s shoulder once again the sea lion and seal doing the same to Hiki).  They are very intelligent when it comes to emotions… Then there’s the ones that just want attention.  (She looks directly at the walrus Waliver over Rowen’s shoulder resting his head on him with a snort).

Jennifer: (Laughs towards Rowen).  Mizuko was right stating Waliver was a big baby from how he acts.  (She laughs more as the Walrus snorts on protest leaning on Rowen more as he pouts, Echo trying to bite on of the tusks).

Rowen: (He cannot help but laugh a little bit as well as he pets the walrus).  Well, I am glad I made a type of positive impact than.

Shizen: Yes, it looks like you have another fan of your mustache then.  Very good taste.  (She grins at Rowen everyone laughing and leaning over the wave at the other sea creatures).

Kairi: (Leans over and giggles still seeing the manatee in the net sleeping calmly then looking at Tori).  The Manny ones still asleep too, that one is really sleepy.  You could even take a nap with him Tori.

Kura: (Looks over then smirks slightly at Tori).  It looks like we finally found a creature that naps more than you.

Tori: (He holds his arm as he stretches his muscle).  I will be willing to put that to the test though it’s always nice to have a napping friend.

Kairi: (Giggles again).  Again, you can always take a nap on his back.  I am sure he wouldn’t mind, Mizuko said so.

Jennifer: (Looks up at the sky).  It is getting towards the end of the day more so perhaps we all should get some rest.

Chazz: (He yawns as does Hiki).  Yes, I do believe that it would be a wise idea to do that since we need to rest up properly for the rest of our journey.

Kura: (Starts to unpack blankets from one of the bags with a nod).

Kairi: We get to see Yami tomorrow after all as well.  (She gets an eager expression).

Shizen: Yes, though it is not until late morning that we reach land so get as much rest as possible.  There may not be as much room between one another as we are used to but try to get comfortable.  (She smiles moving over closer to Rowen as she starts unpacking sleeping gear and passing them to whoever needs it).

Orion: Well, I’m sure we will make things work out, but let’s do our best to get as much rest as possible. 

 

Everyone is picking out what spots they want to sleep on. Hiki sleeps next to Chazz because that is what they are used too and Tori sleeps by his new napping friend who is still in the net currently.

Shizen: (Shuffles through the bag Rowen has as well to share a blanket offering it to Rowen to unfold.  She pauses finding something metal, pulling out a detailed metal rose with a silver stem and purple coloring in the rose petals pausing more to expect it curiously as well as looking at Rowen the same way).

Rowen: Oh, I did not expect you to find it so quickly… Oh I mean… Um… Well surprise Shizen… I made it while we were at Orion’s shop.

Shizen: (Her eyebrows raise in surprise inspecting the metal rose once again but closer).  … You put in quite a lot of detail; it is almost to Orion’s skill level.  (She looks back at Rowen her smile growing fast moving closer to him as well).  You know I have always had an appreciation for the living flowers but….  (She moves her face close to his Rowen now able to see she has a faint blush).  I think I may have found a new appreciation for this type as well.

Rowen: (He smiles greatly).  Well, I am glad to impress you than Shizen… Always happy to make you smile.

Shizen: (Grins kissing Rowen settling down to cuddle with him, setting the rose beside them giving him another kiss).  I thank you very much for such a thoughtful gift.  Perhaps I will not mind sharing a blanket or two tonight.  (As she says this Echo curls up on Rowen with a yawn as well but the walrus plops right beside them almost snuggling up making Shizen laugh more directed towards Waliver).  Not exactly what I meant there….

Rowen: (He kisses Shizen again).  I know but I will still cherish the moments with you Shizen….

Shizen: (Smiles while kissing back and settles in getting comfortable as well).

Orion: (Everyone seems to be tucking themselves in with blankets and sleeping bags, Orion taking one of the larger blankets and resting his head on Spike like a pillow as his dog snuggles up to him.  He pets Spikes head as both settle in as well).

Jennifer: (Is getting out her own sleeping bag as well as helping Kairi with hers.  She feels something very soft and a bit bulkier in Kairi’s bag pulling it out.  It turns out to be a round egg-shaped bunny stuffed animal with pink floppy ears the length of the body which is the size of a pillow).  Kairi, I told you not to bring stuffed animals with us.  They take too much space.

Kairi: (Quickly takes the bunny pillow with Tori peaking over seeing it’s the same on he won for her at the fair).  But sis I only brought one and I could not leave marshmallow behind, plus he makes a great pillow.

Jennifer: (Raises an eyebrow but sighs as well).  Marshmallow?

Kairi: (Has a bright cheerful smile holding the bunny pillow tightly).  I had to name it something really cute, plus I had to bring at least one and this one is really important.

Tori: (He smirks but knows he can’t say anything else he would face wraith again).  Well, why not let her have that if it helps her stay calm and collected which is really important in this type of time.

Jennifer: (Sighs again but shakes her head gathering her own things).  There is not much I can do about it now anyways so sleep tight Kairi alright.  (She kisses Kairi forehead with a smile before setting up her own place to settle in near Chazz and Hiki).

Kairi: (Has a big smile squeezing the stuffed bunny tight dragging her blanket more towards Tori but still a few feet away.  She smiles at him using the bunny as a pillow as she lies down holding it tight the whole time).  Goodnight then.

Orion: (He smiles as he picks a spot near Kairi because of the incident earlier).  Goodnight.

Rowen: (He and Shizen pick a spot to sleep together as they have two new friends to sleep next too as well, he cannot help but enjoy the moment).

 

Jennifer smiles as she tucks herself into her sleeping bag smiling at Chazz and Hiki resting near her.  She starts to hear a calming melody from a harp looking the other way from where it is coming from sounding sweet like a lullaby.  She sees that Mizuko is still sitting in the same spot but playing a silver handheld harp, her fingers gracefully gliding across the strings with ease.  She smiles as she listens thinking how beautiful a sound it is as they all drift to sleep with a smile from the sound of the harp and the ocean waves almost as if they are responding to the melody.
